Worth your time - Shadow Warrior 3
Apr 13, 2022

Flying Wild Hog has gone overboard with complexity reduction - and sacrificed a great deal of Shadow Warrior's mojo in its return to the series' roots. Although the game isn't even half as long as its predecessors, it wears out noticeably after just three hours, having lost the originality of its brand mark katana, chi powers and weapon variety.

Liked-a-lot - Wanderer

I liked Wanderer a lot. It mixes many strengths of other VR games with many ideas of its own. An interesting pastime with challenges as well as action elements.

NEO: The World Ends With You is both a sequel and a "reset", a worthy comeback of one of the most offbeat JRPGs and a game that keeps you hooked to the screen for a long time with its eccentric style, rhythmic battles, motivating "gotta catch 'em all" flair and great soundtrack - even if it can't shake off some long known problems.

The wild mix from the previous games and the more action-packed approach make for a high replay value, which is why the game can be recommended almost without reservation.

Worth your time - Lost Words: Beyond the Page
May 31, 2021

Light and shadow are close together in Lost Words: it tells a touching and tangible story of a young girl's life and embeds it in a gorgeous diary style - but then gets lost in a superfluous and boring sub-story that makes half of the game seem like filler.

Worth your time - Spacebase Startopia
May 28, 2021

A game for fans of the original who want to experience the classic in a modern way. With many strengths but also very many weaknesses of the original - and some that have been newly added.

Liked-a-lot - Loop Hero
Mar 31, 2021

Behind the retro presentation there is a complex, fun and, above all, time-consuming game that cleverly combines familiar game mechanics and turns them on their head. The grind and the hunt for fresh loot is challenging and gripping. The few characters in the game are charming and make you want more, and especially as the game progresses, the complex mechanisms open up and you are caught up in the rush of the loops. However, it's a pity that all this is hidden behind a deliberately minimalistic presentation, which leaves something to be desired in the details.

Liked-a-lot - Persona 5 Strikers
Feb 26, 2021

When I first saw the pictures of Persona 5 Strikers almost 2 years ago, at that time still under the name Persona 5 Scramble, I was quite skeptical at first. Can an action game match the quality of the role-playing game? Will it do justice to the characters? Will the story take too much of a back seat? What about the battle system? And what part do the different personas play? My worries should be unfounded. Because Persona 5 Strikers convinces almost all along the line. The story is excitingly told, the fights are challenging, varied and enhanced by important features of the Persona franchise, the graphic style is unique and the soundtrack burns itself into the brain. Only the lack of overview in combat in rare cases and the lack of socializing as well as the development of personal relationships among the characters ensure that Persona 5 Strikers unfortunately "only" makes it to a very good game and not a "Game of the Year" contender like Persona 5 (Royal) did with ease.

With Little Hope, despite a very interesting setting, a lot of potential was wasted and too little time was spent on details. The game seems to be unfinished in parts and because of the permanent anteasern of evil many moments are too predictable.

I had a lot of fun with both extensions and was happy every time the correspondence between the employees of the Bureau of Control turned into rampant hate speech.

Like in the main game, Obsidian leaves you every possible freedom to solve all quests as you see fit. A little more variety would have been good for the DLC, though.

Vicarious Visions have already earned their laurels with the Crash Bandicoot remake. The developers were also able to transfer this love of detail 1:1 to the Tony Hawk franchise. The enthusiasm and intuition with which the Americans have approached this project is remarkable. A lot of things feel exactly the way you remember them, even though they weren't like that at all back then - memory plays tricks on you. Everything simply fits together.

Liked-a-lot - Moving Out
Jun 23, 2020

Moving Out is pure chaos. But at the same time you don't have the feeling of completely losing control of the game. The physics are sometimes bitchy and smaller glitches force a restart of the level in rare cases, but all in all Moving Out is great fun for in between. Moving Out can convince me with its clever gameplay adaptation in both single and multiplayer. If you are looking for a funny skill game and want to play a round with friends from time to time, Moving Out is definitely the right choice. Additionally, the game is so accessible and customizable through the "Supported Mode" as I have rarely experienced and offers a fun and challenging experience for absolute video game beginners as well as for experts.

Liked-a-lot - Iron Danger
Mar 27, 2020

The lovingly designed world of Iron Danger projects partly really breathtaking panoramas on my screen. A harbour quay bathed in twilight enchants me as much as the duel between a several meter high fighting machine and my, in comparison, tiny heroes. Even if this colossus can crush me with a kick, I still manage to keep the upper hand due to the well implemented time manipulation. It's a great feeling when you jump out of the line of fire with split-second precision or parry a deadly blow. I have never regretted immersing myself in Finnish folklore for about 12-15 hours, and on top of that I was offered a sophisticated game mechanics. More of it with pleasure!

Liked-a-lot - Dreams
Mar 25, 2020

With Dreams, Media Molecule has set itself a monument in the gaming scene. The story is quite manageable in scope, but it offers the perfect insight into what is possible with the editor of Dreams. With a little bit of dedication and creativity, everyone can realize their own game dreams. With all the community features, the great remix functionality and the community jams, I see no reason why Dreams shouldn't last for many years to come. Media Molecule has already confirmed that Dreams will run on the PS5, so I will probably be able to admire my creations and those of many other players in the next generation.
