8 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Jun 13, 2018

Strange Brigade is a delightful title that is sure to make waves and tickle pink everyone who picks it up.  It's lighthearted, carefree and is a great game to dive into for indiscriminate slaughter of ancient Egyptian zombies.  There isn't a lot for me to frown upon with this title and as someone with a picky attitude when it comes to games that speaks volumes.  I can 100% recommend a spot in your library for this title unless you don't like shooters or fun.

9 / 10.0 - F1 2018
Jun 13, 2018

Overall, F1 2018 is the first racing sim I have played in a long time because I could never get the handle of racing against other cars without smashing into them.

9.5 / 10.0 - Pokémon: Let's Go
Jun 13, 2018

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are the newest things to hit the Switch, and just in time for the holidays. A lot of people theorized that it would be a terrible cash grab similar to Pokemon Go, but I have found my childhood again. Pikachu Yellow was my favorite version of the games and Let's Go Pikachu is one game I will be playing for hours on end. It is a great installment into the Pokemon World, and makes me excited for the Switch's next big installment of the series.

Perhaps the greatest challenge of every Warhammer 40,000 game is to capture the scope of a massive universe with fidelity to its rich content which has influenced countless sci-fi titles while adapting to the high expectations of modern gamers. In this regard, Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor - Martyr fights a bloody battle, emerging victorious, but not unscarred. It is flawed and imperfect, but I adore it for what it is: a solid Warhammer 40,000 game which draws game mechanics from its source material and brings the grim darkness of the 41st millennium into a different medium.

7 / 10.0 - Haimrik
Jun 13, 2018

A fortuitous series of events gift Haimrik a magical book with a difference. What follows is a platforming, puzzle solving calamity with intermittent eviscerations and the odd lioness mauling.

9 / 10.0 - Youropa
Jun 13, 2018

Youropa came out of Early Access on June 27th and is just as charming as ever before. At $24.99 USD, its gorgeous landscape and mind-bending puzzle will keep you busy for hours as you make your way across a gravitationally-challenged Paris. Its gentle pacing and ambient music would make this relaxing experience if it weren't for the mental gymnastics required to think dimensionally!

7 / 10.0 - Throne of Lies
Jun 13, 2018

Throne of Lies can be a lot of fun with the right group of people. Pugging makes that vary a lot but if you have 16 friends looking for a fun time, I'd recommend giving Throne of Lies a try. Even if you don't have friends to make a custom group, go in with a trickster or troll mindset and you'll come out having fun.

7.5 / 10.0 - Bus Simulator 18
Jun 13, 2018

Bus Simulator 18 is easily one of the best "sims" I've played in a while. By taking what makes games like Euro Truck and Farm Simulator so popular and applying it to the core ideas of ownership and operating a city-wide bus system, Stillalive has made a really admirable game. It's got a lot of depth, soul, and heart poured into it, even if it's rough around the edges in the way of bugs and polish issues. Recommended for the driving sim fans out there, but maybe wait for a demo to try it before you buy it.

Towards the Pantheon is a masterpiece of story and gameplay as its main tale and subplots all find ways of joining together in the end. You will be sucked into the world that was created for those seeking the thrill of an old-time RPG.

7 / 10.0 - Camp W
Jun 13, 2018

Filling the same shelf space as titles like Life is Strange and Oxenfree, Camp W is a slightly lighter tale of magic, the odd monster, and summer camp.

7 / 10.0 - Defiance 2050
Jun 13, 2018

Defiance 2050, the relaunch of Trion's 2013 MMO sci-fi shooter, attempts to breathe new life into the 5-year-old title. The introduction of classes, along with the reworking of the skill and weapon systems makes the game accessible to players of other modern shooters, but the lack of new content and the decision to not port over existing characters gives veterans little incentive to leave their old world behind.

Merge Games and Teku Studios has created some kind of masterpiece here, both visually and enigmatically. Their use of tribal storytelling is charming and the elements that put together the puzzles are well thought out. I wouldn't necessarily call this an amateurs puzzle game meant for children, as there are many components that require abstract thinking to progress, but for the experienced puzzler, there is a lot to love in Candle: The Power of the Flame.

9 / 10.0 - Dig or Die
Jun 13, 2018

If you like games like Terraria and Starbound but are looking for something new, Dig or Die is definitely worth your time. At $12 USD, it provides an incredibly challenging and new twist on the genre. But be advised: they aren't kidding about the dying part. You're going to do that… a lot. Don't be too proud to start out on easy mode. If you take my advice, you might just live long enough to blow this popsicle stand and hustle some more of CRAFT & Co's automated fabricators!

Jatobi

From the Ashes. while not a perfect DLC, has potential. If you are a new player, it fits in great with the game. If you're a returning player in hopes of getting new content, you will be very disappointed. This was a poorly implemented DLC in my opinion, I have high hopes, however, that Warhorse Studios can bring a lot better, more engaging content to the game with future DLC's.

6.5 / 10.0 - Tempest 4000
Jun 13, 2018

Jeff Minter has been behind the game's previous sequels or re releases (Tempest 2000 in '94, Tempest 3000 in 2000) and it is a true rendition of the Tempest I grew up with. However, despite porting it over to the newer operational systems, I don't feel that there was enough of a difference from previous versions to warrant a release at this price point.

6 / 10.0 - Garage: Bad Trip
Jun 13, 2018

Garage: Bad Trip is every 1980s action horror flick power fantasy wrapped up in a bloody retroware wrapper. It tries to balance it's graphic gore with classic tropes and it's suspense with moments of the ridiculous, but leans heavily into its Splatterpunk influences. While its controls are tight for a twin stick shooter, Garage: Bad Trip has some mechanical bugs which diminish the overall experience.

10 / 10.0 - Dead Cells

Forsaken is by far the best expansion Bungie has released to date. It offers some great storytelling, fun new subclasses, and weapons, reworks some existing systems to make content more accessible and has even progressed in making the whole experience fun. Despite still trying to find the sweet spot with endgame grinding, Destiny 2 Forsaken is worth the purchase price and offers fans of the series a satisfying experience from start to finish.

7.8 / 10.0 - Pool Panic
Jun 13, 2018

Billed as the worlds least realistic pool simulator, Pool Panic is developed by indie team Rekim, and happens to be the epitome of how Adult Swim do games. From Robot Unicorn Attack to Battle Chef Brigade, Just as individual as the Adult Swim's TV programming, Pool panic takes a clear cue from this. Looking like a mash-up of the Mr. Men, Cuphead, and Rick & Morty, Pool Panic is a wonderfully anarchic work of 2D animation.
