Gamers Heroes's Reviews

The fifth episode of Minecraft Story Mode: Season Two was rushed. The conclusion to this season is not a satisfying one, and the script goes for more bombastic setpieces than cohesive storytelling.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is by far the weakest entry of the series. Everything from the roster to the mechanics to even the graphics are a huge step back, making it an easy pass for all but the most diehard fighting game fan.

Tower Fortress is a fairly straightforward game that can be finished quickly, but the number of variables could very well be a draw for those looking for more. Those that don't mind running through the same types of areas multiple times may dig it, but don't be surprised if things start to run together after a while.

Sky Force Reloaded is the FDA generic version of the shoot-em-up. Everything is so plain, and the lack of personality will dissuade all but the most hardcore of shmup fans.

Son of Scoregasm is a challenging game that demands your complete attention. Less patient gamers may be turned off, but those looking for an experience that requires both skill and pattern recognition will appreciate what is present here.

Sombrero: Spaghetti Western Mayhem could have been a solid party game, but a number of questionable design choices really hinder it in the long run. The lack of bots, limited amount of modes, and unorthodox control scheme rob it of any potential it may have had.

Though it is not without its faults, I enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 quite a bit. Unfortunately, there is a ton of frustration attached to that enjoyment. If you are a JRPG or Xenoblade fan, then you should be able to overlook its flaws. If not, you may want to check out some videos or borrow it first.

6 / 10 - Jump Gunners
Dec 12, 2017

Jump Gunners has a great premise, but the game could have used some more time in the oven. Those going solo may be somewhat disappointed at the lack of modes and bots available, but partygoers will love throwing down locally.

7 / 10 - Superflight

Superflight is not the type of game you'll play for hours on end, but its high speeds and twitch-based gameplay serves as a great palate cleanser between meatier titles.

Defenders of Ekron is an ambitious title that treads new ground, but the execution leaves something to be desired. It is just far too tedious, and though the new elements are welcome, the core foundation needs some work.

8 / 10 - A Hat in Time
Dec 5, 2017

A Hat is Time is a truly charming game. It does not quite have the polish of Nintendo or Rare's greats, but the sheer amount of originality and care that went into it makes it a must-play for platforming fans.

The cute-em-up antics of Beekyr Reloaded have got the foundation down, but its presentation will make it or break it for a lot of people. Those weaned on shooters like Gradius may like what's on display here, but your mileage may vary.

Andromeda Wing is not for everybody. It caters toward a very specific niche, and though it is not the most polished title ever, it will appeal to those looking for something from the 90s.

5 / 10 - GUTS

I applaud GUTS' attempts to add more innovation and creativity to an otherwise stagnant genre. However, past its comedic value, GUTS will struggle to keep you entertained for more than a few hours.

2 / 10 - GROOVY

GROOVY is a broken game. The physics, gameplay mechanics, and even graphics are lousy, and will lead to a bad time.

I look back at my time in Kings and Heroes with a mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, I applaud the design of the huge, seamless open-world and its rewarding dungeon system, but on the other hand, the lack of polish for what is supposed to be a fully released game is disappointing. There's a lot of fun to be had here, but you'll need to head into the game with realistic expectations.

There Is A Genie In My Szechuan Sauce is one of those "ironic" meme games in which people gush about it on Steam and tell their friends about how it's "so bad it's good." However, the joke is on you if you play this poorly acted, poorly constructed mess of a game.

5 / 10 - 2URVIVE
Nov 21, 2017

2URVIVE's Horde-like structure brings nothing new to the table, but that does not mean it is a bad game. Those who can overcome its unfair nature might enjoy turning their brain off and blasting away the undead, but don't expect anything too revolutionary here.

The fourth episode of Telltale's Minecraft Story Mode: Season Two is rushed. The lack of focus in the story, paired with the overly random humor and bugs, make it the weakest episode by far.

If you have Nioh on the PlayStation 4, there isn't a big need to upgrade to the Complete Edition. If you haven't played Nioh and you like action RPGs set in ancient Japan, this is the game for you.
