All things considered, some post-launch patches will be necessary to enjoy an even more solid experience: the publisher has already confirmed to us that several updates are on the way, but at the moment know that the launch version needs more than a few technical refinements.

Also, how the story continues and ends will be crucial. Such an emotional and powerful ending needs a lot of care and attention , because the theme is anything but banal or nostalgic.

Even in its PC version, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth turns out to be the best thing that could have happened to the saga in the last 18 years. With this new look, and with a level of detail that is truly enviable for those who can afford the highest settings, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the new glimmer of hope for all those fans who felt betrayed by the most discussed and controversial chapters of this beloved saga.

Civilization VII – just like every chapter in the series – is a game that should be appreciated over time, especially in a case like this, where the radical desire to take a step towards the future is evident.

The Early Access launch gives us a product that is incomplete in theory (6 classes to unlock, 3 acts to develop), but already extremely concrete in practice .

Instead, it is difficult to think that it can attract those who have already spent about ten hours on other shores, but there is also some reserve for those who only own Switch: Stray is nice, it is relaxing, but it lasts very little and offers very basic game mechanics.

Mea Culpa is the satisfying DLC of Blashemous 2 sewn gracefully on all lovers of the main adventure. More challenging in the boss battles and more complex in the platforming stages, in the three hours or so of gameplay, the game also reveals some surprises related to the saga's history that fans cannot ignore.

Unscored - Yakuza Kiwami
Oct 28, 2024

It probably has some rhythm problems, due to the large number of cutscenes, and is affected by a structure that is undoubtedly a child of its times, but Yakuza Kiwami really never tires us. This Switch port has been made with quite different guidelines than the vast majority of its peers: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has chosen not to come to terms with the technical limitations of the new host console, maintaining resolution, animations and audio quality at the same levels seen elsewhere, at the price of rather unstable performance and fairly frequent stutter phenomena.

The Lake House lasts too short but, given how terrifying it can be, perhaps it could be lucky. Remedy brings down the curtain on Alan Wake 2 with a cohesive and dense content, in which it pours an exorbitant grandeur of intent from a narrative point of view.

The general perception, a year after the launch of Starfield, was that Shattered Space and all the interventions of the post-launch development team would have served to right the boat, as has happened too many times in recent times. Yet, on these pages, Starfield had been able to earn a flattering vote, which did not disregard, however, a series of problems that the product had highlighted. In approaching Shattered Space, then, your point of view is fundamental: if you were disappointed by the Bethesda title thirteen months ago you won't find anything here that can change your mind, except for a more focused world that does not force you to continuous travel in hyperspace, damaging the pace of the game.

Vessel of Hatred is a DLC that manages to do what many additional content struggle to do: expand the base experience without distorting it. The narrative is dark and engaging, while the gameplay (thanks also to the presence of the new Spiritist class) is enriched with intelligent mechanics and challenges that never fall into the trivial. The balance between exploration and action keeps the player hooked, and each new area explored has something to say, visually and thematically. In short, a content that marks a new chapter in the world of Diablo 4, without forgetting its roots.

Episode Aigis is a decent DLC for a splendid game like Persona 3, to put it in the shortest possible way. It is absolutely not at the level of the base title, because it chooses to completely eliminate the social and life sim dynamics that have contributed to making the Persona franchise unique to focus everything on dungeon crawling, but with procedurally generated levels and several enemies that are simple reskins of those of the main campaign.

God of War: Ragnarok on PC is yet another confirmation that expertly crafted ports are still possible, despite everything. Stunning graphics (though you'll need a good PC to handle all that visual splendor), gameplay as sharp as Kratos' blades, and a gripping narrative that won't let you go. Sure, there was the risk of relying on past success and resting on its laurels. It doesn't revolutionize, nor does it need to: it perfects what already worked on the PlayStation platform, with a confidence that few titles manage to maintain. And that's perfectly fine.

The only case in which we would feel like recommending the Switch version of One Piece Odyssey with our eyes closed would be the one in which the reader is a great fan of the series and owns nothing but the Nintendo hybrid console to play it: the product, after all, remains as good as it was at the time of the first publication, and in its classicism it can still prove interesting regardless of the user's gaming experience.

The Switch version of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is an excellent conversion, which, sacrificing it as little as possible on a graphic level, proposes a version of the game that is very close to that for PC and for the other technically more performing consoles.
