This game is challenging in a good way. While it can be frustrating, I find that when I did hit that checkpoint, I had this great sense of accomplishment.
If you are a fan and still play retro: worth your time, it's very faithful to the series, almost too much If you are not: probably pass on this one, you'll just be angry.
The shadows are alive. Be the embodiment of vengeance. Beware the light.
While it can be downright frustrating at times, it is very rewarding when you finally get past that difficult section.
Valley is also a bit misleading in its design. Although you’re in the great outdoors for much of the game, the path is surprisingly linear. Every little side path leads to a discovery, whether it’s a note or upgradeable materials. The game keeps you in line by running you up against rock walls, cliffs or water. There’s really no reason to explore once you’ve figured this out.
Physics-based puzzle games are a tough nut to crack. Make the game too hard and the player leaves the game frustrated, never to return to the thumb contorting nightmare they just experienced. Make the game too easy and the player leaves disappointed, thinking about the untapped potential of the game they just played. Human: Fall Flat attempts to balance this difficulty teeter-totter by keeping the mechanics simple (all you can do is grab things and jump) but increasing the complexity of the situation you need to apply the mechanics in. While there is the occasional stumble, Human: Fall Flat manages to stay on its feet to the end.
Considering that this game came out in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 originally, I wasn’t going to make that distant leap to review what technically is a nine-year-old game. This game is older than most of the PSVG’s children, for goodness sakes. However, after being asked about it by PSVG’s Amanda and then snoring about halfway through my explanation, I felt that I had no choice but to release onto the masses about what it was like for me to experience Sega’s wonky adventure on the Switch platform.
One of the best Schmup options available on 3DS, Hyperlight EX is a fun grab for only $6 dollars but the difficulty and lean modes might turn some players off.
Severed is well worth the cost of admission and provides a unique experience that’s hard to find. If you’re a Wii U only video gamer, I strongly urge you to pick this title up. Just know that Severed also has flaws that made the experience less enjoyable for me. Most notably the repetitive combat and tedious exploration that wears on you after the first half of game. If the story was deeper, if the world had more life to it, I think these issues wouldn’t have been as memorable.
Welcome back, ladies and germs! Being disgustingly sick all week has crippled my throat and lungs, leaving me high and dry on streaming and podcasting. As it turns out, however, my lucrative mind and fingers still function as intended and brings us to yet another TAKEALOOKSEE! With Jason giving us the deep cuts back in its PC release in February, indie developer Splashteam's Splasher takes to the field on Switch consoles this time around!
Dragon Ball Fusions is worth your investment. As a budget release, the game offers over 30 hours of entertainment, a unique battle system and some witty banter. There are some bugs and the over-world is very unappealing, but there's enough here to get a good laugh out of any Goku fan.
Sublevel Zero Redux is a great example of why we have come to love independent studios. The Sigtrap team attempt to bring something fresh and new to the often “too-similar” first person shooter market and the experience is worth taking a flier on.
Rare’s latest game has been unshackled from beta for a few weeks now, and lately, I have been trying to pioneer the PSVG Squad into playing more and more of this game to see what it offers. Some of our team members have also played the beta version of this extensively, and so they knew what most of this game offered from the get-go. Having only played it fresh from its official release myself, I have seen a metric crap-ton of what the game has to give and am now more than happy for me to give a quick judgment for you to see right here before we dig into the gritty details.
I’ve played almost 30 hours of Implosion for Nintendo Switch and I wanted to share my thoughts of the game, with you. Let me know what you think on Twitter or in the comments section on our website!
PSVG new comer Tyler gets in on the audio review fun with LocoRoco remastered on PlayStation 4. Check it out if you feel this review interested you into trying the game!
It’s like Goldeneye met and fell in love with Portal, then they had a baby with a little bit of crazy Smash Bros-like unpredictability.
Earth’s Dawn is a surprisingly refreshing game that I fully expected to be chore.
If you have the need for speed, cruise your “wave” over to this Thunderous racer!
Seth recently tackled the hardcore sidescroller, Wulverblade, available on Nintendo Switch at this link.
In all, this is a fun and engaging game.
