Charming platformers that didn't lose their appeal after the disappearance of VR requirements. The main drawback is that the second game is much better than the first one, but it doesn't mean that you won't have fun playing both of them.

Last Variable builds on the same foundations as the original The Alters, but adds a new layer of depth to its mechanics. It seems like the perfect formula for an expansion. But it lacks the balance between narrative and gameplay that made the main game stand out. It's less nerve-wracking and more routine. This makes the experience itself, while not bad, less engaging.

This year, such a release was Crushed in Time, simultaneously reminiscent of classic humorous quests from the LucasArts era and attempting to bring something new to the genre. It's not without its typical quest flaws, but the unique, flexible gameplay and solid humor outweigh these few shortcomings—we can't wait to see what else these developers can come up with.

The game is as spectacular and gripping as Returnal, but with a much greater emphasis on story and less varied gameplay. It feels like in an attempt to correct its mistakes, Housemarque considered the wrong components of Returnal to be its shortcomings.

More importantly, Windrose has enormous potential to become a truly outstanding pirate adventure. Let's hope it doesn't squander this potential on its way to release and proves to be a true treasure of the genre.
