Critic Reviews for Doloc Town

Doloc Town is a trashpunk farming and crafting life sim set in a postapocalyptic world that's got a decent start on the way to healing.

Doloc Town is a genuinely fun and incredibly adorable blend of farming sim and platformer set in a post-apocalyptic world, adding a genuinely unique vibe to the genre.

For fans of farming games, Doloc Town is undoubtedly worth trying. It offers plenty of fresh mechanics, systems, and production chains that constantly give you something to work toward, whether it is building a bigger and better farm or unlocking new technologies that make life easier. However, its rather traditional gameplay loop can feel somewhat tiring by today's standards, while some of its finer details and player guidance are not quite as polished as they could be, leaving a few small areas where it falls short of other games in the genre.

The vertical farming sim Doloc Town has successfully exited Early Access. Farming activities involving plants and animals are convincingly rendered in the side-view perspective. While the NPCs rarely initiate dialogue outside of cutscenes, the area outside the city offers plenty to explore and discover. The story now comes to a satisfying conclusion, and the new area has become a real highlight.

Doloc Town is still built around the familiar cycle of planting, watering, harvesting, selling, and expanding, so anyone who has played another farming simulator will understand it immediately. What makes it special is everything constructed around that loop. Vertical farming is clever, platforming changes how you interact with the world, ability-gated exploration gives upgrades more purpose, and the post-apocalyptic town has real charm.

Doloc Town is another strong energy in a sub-genre that is currently in rude health, with its side-on view and pixel art style helping the game to stand out. While the gameplay systems may not ultimately deviate greatly from established formula, it nonetheless provides a charming experience with enough depth and farm customisation options to keep players engaged for a significant amount of time.

Whatever the world has in store for us, Doloc Town can be ranked up there with the cosy farming sim greats to provide a little bit of happiness. While initially very overwhelming and keeping your inventory organised is rather finicky, the gameplay is exceedingly rewarding. Building up both your farm and Doloc itself keeps you coming back just one more harvesting session. What it lacks in tight combat mechanics and inventory management, it makes up for in spades with charm, ingenuity, and character. A post-apocalyptic pick-me-up that warms the cockles and inspires you to build a legacy from something raw, no matter how small the result or how rustic the tools. I give it the Thumb Culture Gold Award to display proudly on the skull above Zenis’s Tavern. To the future, friends. Cheers!

Doloc Town is a casual farming game developed by RedSaw Games Studio and distributed by Logoi Games and Pathea Games. In a post-apocalyptic world, our young protagonist finds Doloc, a small village facing difficulties. It is in this situation that our protagonist settles in the town and starts her own farm, helping Doloc to prosper again. Besides farming, you can raise animals and collect resources, as well as control drones that will help you both in battle and in tending to your crops. Help Doloc and its inhabitants so that everyone can live better in a devastated world. I had fun and continue to have fun with Doloc Town. Each game session is light, in the sense that I don't notice the time passing and I don't feel pressured to rush things, even though there's a lot to do and I end up losing focus several times. However, this doesn't get in the way, and the game itself allows you to tackle larger goals in stages. The game's story falters a bit by trying to explain too much, in a very tiring and unappealing way. It won't excite you, but it doesn't bother you either. It's amazing how you can't stay still in Doloc Town; you'll always have something to do, and I think that's great because it keeps the game alive at all times. Even though things get a little easier as the game progresses, it's rewarding to see things gradually evolving. I was missing a good farming game in my life, and Doloc Town managed to fill that void.
