It might be better to consider ICY as more of a Visual Novel with RPG elements rather than a story-driven RPG. While I enjoy the story despite the lengthy text boxes the RPG fighting and collection appeals to me. Execution is marred by out-of-place textures and fonts as well as an overall lack of final polish.

Despite the cringey dialogue and general over arcing storyline, Need for Speed Payback is a pretty enthralling 4 wheeled crusade. It may contradict itself by featuring linear, checkpoint ridden roads on a wide open, treacherous continent, but the races themselves are slick, chaotic and heart pounding for the most part, and with numerous secondary objectives and challenges to complete, there’s certainly a lot to keep you and your car occupied.

6 / 10 - FIFA 18
Oct 15, 2017

FIFA 18 is just a FIFA game, and therein lies the problem. It has every game mode, mechanic and feature that a FIFA game should, but at the same time, it doesn’t have that sparkle that the usual yearly instalments of the game have in one form or another.

Overall it’s a game that aims itself for a particular audience and while I’m part of the hack n slash part of that audience, I’ve grown up from the days in which my teenage self would adore this game. I can’t get onboard with the abundance of sex jokes and barely legal advances upon the in game characters or even the strip teases mid fight.

I was looking for a good way of explaining what this game was and I decided on “One-Dimensional”. For me, it was a rush to the end and left me with a shrug of the shoulders. There is something missing in this title and it comes from the dull exploration portions that I talked about earlier. If you are interested in this title wait for a sale but some may enjoy it more than others depending on what your tastes are.

So Masquerada is set in the Citte of Ombre, which has a clear Venetian feel too it's design and is divided by class. At the top are the Masquerada, with access to Mascherines, masks that grant their wearers magical powers.

6 / 10 - The Swindle
Oct 14, 2018

A Sonic-the-Hedgehog-esque money-as-health system would be my proposed solution, where every hit results in some dropped wonga as you limp back to the escape vessel, but until then, for all The Swindle’s good attributes, it manages to suck the fun out of its own good ideas so thoroughly in its early-game that many players won’t have the desire to soldier on.

Ultimately Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection is a collection that will appeal to fans. Newcomers who want to try out some of these classic games should rather wait for a sale because paying full price for this collection of games will leave a sour taste in their mouths. Especially since this is a very barebones package with barely any additional features. Some concept artwork or developer commentary would have been nice to have or even some more options to change the screen size and level of CRT filter applied would have been appreciated. Grab the Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection only if you’re a diehard fan or you want to experience the two Sega titles.

While I do wish that rogue-likes at least kept the bosses dead in each run, I do realise it’s simply part of the experience and have to embrace it as such. Trinity Fusion is certainly one of the better and more accessible rogue-likes I’ve played, even with the procedural generation’s seemingly random difficulty spikes. It takes a lot for a rogue-like to pop up on my radar and this year Trinity Fusion is the second one to do just that and keep me coming back for more.

My Next Life As A Villainess All Routes Lead to Doom! Pirates of the Disturbance – exudes charm and creativity with every aspect of its design. The game’s captivating storytelling, lovable characters, stunning artwork, and immersive gameplay make it a standout title in the otome game genre

Konami could have put in more effort to bring Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 up to modern standards, along with a higher resolution and frame rate, but I can’t deny that playing MGS 1 on my Series X didn’t bring a nostalgic smile to my face. It may not be the Master Collection that Solid Snake deserves, but it’s at least one we can play now without any issues.

7 / 10 - Overpass 2
Nov 15, 2023

Overpass 2 wasn’t the game I was expecting. It is a tough racer to get to grips with as the punishing terrain and fragile handling had me getting frustrated and annoyed because it felt unnecessarily hard.

RoboCop Rogue City is a nice nostalgia hit to yesteryear but focuses too much on the classic and not the modern to make it entertaining enough. At £45 it could be worth the price, but with such a short runtime and unappealing replays, you might not get your money to an hour’s worth. There’s room for expansion and even DLCs, but I’d suggest you wait for more patches to fix the stability issues.

Just Dance 2024 Edition is a downright great game. You’ve got a great and varied selection of tracks that range from the wacky to some of the more amazingly choreographed. Its visuals in between the stages and its colourful cast of coaches provide an eye-catching and immersive experience not just to dance into but also something to please your eyes and just watch. Its only real downside is it’s hard to get into since you’re forced to be connected at all times which even with a decent internet connection still suffers quite a bit.

7 / 10 - PAYDAY 3
Oct 24, 2023

Overall, I’d give Payday 3 a tentative 7/10 for now. It is a fun romp with friends, both in stealth and loud variations. The maps can be both simple and complex depending on choice, with some quick clears and more in-depth burglaries. There are not a ton of unique features to be had, but this is a long haul, more is to come.

Forgive Me Father runs at a brisk clip as well with no performance issues at all. Regardless of how many sprites were been chucked at me, the game ran flawlessly. However, that seems to come at a price where resolution is concerned. The game does seem to be using a dynamic resolution which looks to be very aggressive while also kicking it at strange times. I’ve been surrounded by hordes while the resolution looked great while at other times, with one or two enemies on screen, the environment would look terribly smeared.

7 / 10 - Mugen Souls Z
Nov 1, 2023

Mugen Souls Z on the Nintendo Switch was honestly a great idea. It’s packed with the “moe” aesthetics that I find hard not to fall in love with as a huge fan of Hyperdimension and its similar titles from the same company. Now, being a portable title also means the comfort of being “switch-on-and-play” where you can control your playtime and availability without having to be glued to your chair for an hour or two.

My Hero One’s Justice is a conundrum. The game has some great, fun, fast paced gameplay even though it’s rather one dimensional with button bashing. It has an excellent cast of characters and fans of the anime and manga franchise will love it. However, there’s just too much that’s gone wrong with a formula that worked so well for Bandai Namco’s other major shounen game series. Severely handicapping a player’s attack options is not a good choice.

PAUL LAURELES

There is no voice-acting which isn’t surprising and while the ambient music and sound effects are forgettable, overall I am satisfied on the full experience I’ve had over a week of playing. I’m repeating myself but this is an addictive game for sure. So while I say that, some may not agree and I completely understood their opinions. Repetitive gameplay, no voice acting, and a browser-like game quality isn’t the most attractive thing in the world especially with Red Dead Redemption 2 coming out after this. But if repetitive gameplay, simple core mechanics, building tools is at the very least an attractive thing for you, then I suggest to waste no time and grab this!

Overall, The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep gets a 7/10, it is an enjoyable adventure with engaging turn-based combat and puzzle solving but fails too harshly in other areas. Combat can become repetitive at certain points where you fight the same setup of enemies 5 times in a row when it doesn’t glitch out. Some puzzles are overly easy, while others are overtly vague without reason. The difficulty is great throughout, aside from some areas that take a drastic leap. The long list of glitches and bugs ruin an otherwise amazing experience as they plague every corner.
