Snake Pass is a formidable, acutely designed puzzle platformer with a unique twist, unlike anything I've ever played
Ruin of the Reckless is a wonderful new entry to the Roguelike arena that binds tantalising, mechanically sound gameplay with a gorgeous art style and an inspiring soundtrack.
Thimbleweed Park grips the Adventure Game (verb) wheel and reinvents the genre for the modern era with an unmissable, fun-packed mystery that will delight nostalgia hunters and die-hard fans as well as gamers who don't know their Guybrush from their LeChuck.
Team Shifty have taken the core principles of the indie-brawler genre and made them their own. As a title in a fierce and competitive market, Mr. Shifty stands out for its use of humour, mechanics and collision engine. Minor framerate issues bug the game in later levels but there's hope that these can be patched upon release. Overall a very solid game!
Voodoo Vince Remastered is a burlap bonanza 13 years later, providing nostalgia for fans and a fresh, compelling experience for those invested in the 3D Platforming genre. Come to New Orleans for the alluring art style and stay for the clever gameplay and sonically pleasing score.
Outlast 2 offers an openness to its environment which produces a vulnerable protagonist and dangerous world in which to delve into. Exploring dark religious tones throughout this isn't one for the faint of heart.
A perfect use of the Video Game medium to create an emotional experience, This Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy is a fun, introspective jaunt that provokes and soothes the mind in equal measure.
Prey delivers one of the finest Immersive Simulators of the last decade, coated in a gorgeous stylistic veneer and a surprisingly deep narrative that will grab you from the get-go
Rick and Morty's trip into Virtual Reality offers the same humour and charm that Roiland pushes into the show. At times the limits of VR push against the game's creativity which can leave areas of the game feeling like a list of chores.
STRAFE proves to be a worthy spiritual successor of all the classics of the genre, while also introducing modern elements that fit well into the gameplay. While the experience can be frustrating sometimes due to unfair damage and bugs, Pixel Titans delivered a solid and addictive game.
PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS delivers on the promise made by spiritual predecessors DayZ and Arma 3 with rivetingly intense, tactical gameplay that'll force you and your friends to think on your feet and watch each other's backs.
Deck 13 improve on Lords of the Fallen with a sci-fi Souls game in a gorgeous universe, but it still falls short at a couple of hurdles before it can be considered a worthwhile experience for fans of this emergent genre.
NeuroVoider proves to be a really complex twin stick shooter that is better enjoyed with a couple of friends in local co-op.
Injustice 2 is a very good fighter with a strong roster, engaging story and tons of content to keep you playing long past the credits roll. It does fumble the implementation of its biggest new mechanic - The Gear System - but even with the poor audio design and imbalance within the roster, it still manages to be a damn good time.
An engrossing and incredibly nostalgic examination of the role instant messaging clients play in forging and maintaining relationships - both when they work, and when they don't. Play the predecessor first, then come back for more. And play it like you're 16 again.
With a unique style and a large list of things to do, Tokyo 42 only falls short in some of its core mechanics, which can be a bit too tedious for some
Get Even is a spectacular genre-bending indie with a number of novel ideas only hampered by a few marginal technical bumps in the road. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers and are looking for something fresh and exciting, this is the game for you!
Tekken 7 is a complete package, brilliant graphics, superb sound and top notch gameplay. It does leave a little to be desired in teaching its tight mechanics to newcomers and the story mode can drag on however, at the end of it all, you would be hard pressed to find a fighter this entertaining.
A great diversion whenever you've got half an hour to kill, First Strike: Final Hour is never going to make you sweat, but it will make you grin (albeit sadistically).
Ultra Street Fighter 2 is a fun title which is a testament to the quality of the original title, however the extra content on offer and the horrendous Way of The Hado mode do little to justify an eighth iteration in the SF2 series and falls woefully short of it's £35 price tag.
