GameRant's Reviews
Killzone: Shadow Fall is the most beautiful next-gen console game on the PlayStation 4, and while it does wonders with its presentation value and impressive new levels of visual fidelity, it doesn't do enough to innovate on its campaign story and gameplay offerings.
As a continuation of BioShock Infinite, both mechanically and narratively, Burial at Sea: Episode 1 is a worth playing, even if it doesn't capitalize on its potential as much as fans might hope. The combat is still as enjoyable as ever, if a bit same-y, and the game's stunning detail will leave fans searching every nook and cranny. However, the story beats packaged around that gameplay are surprisingly straightforward, which is a bit odd for an Irrational-developed game. But, by the time the credits roll BioShock fans will likely look at the overall experience as an entertaining one. And most importantly they will be desperate for Episode 2.
So, while the game looks the best Call of Duty ever has, it also carries too many flaws to make it a must-have title for next-gen console owners, or casual Call of Duty fans for that matter. Die-hards will still log countless hours, but long-time detractors will finally have new ground from which to criticize the franchise.
Despite bugs and a few absent features, 'Battlefield 4' lays the groundwork for the most immersive and dynamic multiplayer experience in the series to date.
'Refreshing' could be applied to several aspects of the game's design, with performances and an attention to detail that place it among – if not ahead – of the franchise's best. And with no discernible shortcomings when placed next to its American-Revolution-predecessor, Black Flag is the step into next-gen that many fans have been waiting for.
Pokemon X and Y are the 3D Pokemon games that fans have been waiting all of these years for. An overly predictable plot and a hit and miss 3D feature are but a few blemishes on what’s otherwise an impeccable set of games.
The first episode, "Faith" plants many seeds that we expect to see return in later installments, but so far, the new episodic series is off to an impressive start. Offering an experience that new Telltale fans are sure to eat up, an adaptation of "Fables" that the comic's fans will approve of, and a story sure to scratch the itch of mystery fans, The Wolf Among Us has already put The Walking Dead in good company.
Picking up FIFA 14 now won't leave gamers dissatisfied, but it might be worth waiting to see what the next-gen has to offer.
If you loved your time in Pandora the first time around, you'll absolutely love Borderlands 2.
t will make a solid addition to anyone's PlayStation VR library for sure.
