Azkend 2 is polished for what it is, so quality isn't really an issue here. But this game can't escape the crowd, as it does little to separate itself from the pack.
This really is DLC, not an improved game by any means.
Upgrading the ship and taking part in battles are the most interesting part; I just wish there was more to it.
Ambition of the Slimes is a decent game to play, but it does have some noticeable faults as well.
Draw a Stickman: Epic 2 is a really neat game. While it is on the shorter side it's still a fun adventure that anyone with a little imagination and creativity can enjoy. It's also priced under $10 which makes it even more appealing.
Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King does a great job at paying homage to the Zelda franchise, and though a few things were found to be annoying at times, it's still very much a great game to play and definitely worth your time.
I think World to the West presents some very strong ideas, but the execution doesn't always translate to captivating gameplay. If you're on the fence, my recommendation would be adding it to your wish list for a future sale.
Puzzle Box Maker is packed with content. There are over 100 premade levels ready to play and an awesome mode where you can create you very own challenging levels for others to try. While it does seem a bit simplistic at times, its a fun game that will keep you busy for a while.
Hammerwatch can be a good time, but only really if you play it with friends.
The Deer God aims high with its breathtaking visuals, sound, and narrative, but it's just not entertaining enough to actually make you want to pick up your Joy-Con controllers.
Creative thought will get you the most out of this puzzler, but the heartfelt adventure should appeal to kids, or any who enjoy a short but satisfying adventure.
Overall, Furi does a lot of things very well and those who like a good challenge could enjoy it if the combat doesn't trip them up too often. There is a Practice mode for each boss, which helps, but again, it felt like the game should do a little bit more to aid the player in mastering the combat. For $19.99, you'll get a decent amount of content, but there isn't a lot of replayability in my opinion.
SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition executes tactical, turn-based combat well and greatly improves on the original, all while adding the latest DLC into the equation, which is essentially more icing on the cake.
In many ways, it's in the upper echelon of indies. It has a level of professional polish that can't be overlooked.
The Sexy Brutale is such a neat game and I really enjoyed my time with it. There's so many references to other games and like most murder mysteries, I felt a strong need to keep playing and uncover the truth of what was going on. It's too bad that the Nintendo Switch port suffers from horrible framerate issues. I'm really hoping the developers will make a patch for this soon because TSB is so awesome in every other aspect.
I felt like the enemy variety and the boss battles/design could have been improved, but other than that, Xenoraid is a really solid shoot'em up. If you're looking for a great multiplayer shoot'em up game to play with friends, Xenoraid offers a lot of customization and fun!
Overall, my time with Fire Emblem Warriors was fun but it's most certainly more fun for long time Fire Emblem fans. The fan service is top-notch and there are a ton of cool cameos from past characters in the franchise. The cutscenes and visuals are amazing–something I can't wait to see more of when the next Fire Emblem game comes to the Switch.
Overall, the game features a decent amount of content but not for the price. For $39.99, I would expect to get more content than what is here. As a big Batman fan, I enjoyed the story but after we've had the chance to play as Batman in other games, it feels like a step back to go the full story-driven route. However, if you enjoy more of an emphasis on story in games, you might have fun with Batman: The Telltale Series–I would just wait for a sale first.
For longtime fans, there are a few new Pokemon added exclusively in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon and there are more catchable, wild Pokemon than previous games. Unfortunately, for people who played Sun and Moon extensively, you will have to go through quite a bit of old content before you get to the newer content towards the end. That said, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are the definitive versions of the 4 games. If you haven't played Sun or Moon, by all means pick up Ultra Sun and/or Ultra Moon as they are an excellent departure from the old series formula of past games. For Sun/Moon veterans, the games are worth it, but they will feel like deja vu more often than not.
It's pitched as “refreshing and peaceful,” but the one hit fails, broken checkpoints, and rough camera, are more likely to agitate than anything. However, I am curious about the sequel, which sounds more promising.
