Pure Nintendo's Reviews

Overall, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is the best game in the franchise for newcomers. The game offers an abundance of events and a charming story that'll give younglings insight into the history of the Olympic Games. If you are looking into becoming a competitive athlete online, then this game will not be for you. However, it is perfect for any get together with friends and/or family, due to the game's short session mentality.

6 / 10.0 - Bee Simulator
Dec 5, 2019

Bee Simulator's flying mechanics will frustrate younger gamers, and its grade-school level presentation will turn away adults. If you're able to find some happy ground between the two of them, however, it's a thoughtful, educational, and fun way to live out the life of a bee.

9.5 / 10.0 - Luigi's Mansion 3
Dec 4, 2019

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Luigi's latest adventure. The Nintendo Switch is already home to plenty of great games, but Luigi's Mansion 3 falls under the "absolutely essential" category. If you own a Switch, you simply have to give this game a whirl.

8 / 10.0 - Heroland
Dec 3, 2019

Heroland enters the fold as the ultimate "sit back and relax" JRPG. Even though the game has hands-off combat and long-winded dialogue sections where your participation is questionable, you have charm oozing from every pixel. The self-aware humor and quirky characters make up for most of the shortcomings.

8 / 10.0 - Turkey, Please!
Dec 2, 2019

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect with Turkey, Please!. Overall, it was a charming game. That being said, Turkey, Please! is still no turkey as it isn't stuffed full of content. This might not be enough to blow the dust off your 3DS, however, it is worth a look due to the game's cheap asking price. Especially, if you never let your 3DS collect dust.

6 / 10.0 - WRC 8
Nov 28, 2019

WRC is overall enjoyable despite the steering issue. Managing the career mode and/or just doing the season is a fair amount of content and gameplay to take part in. Unfortunately, steering being a huge mechanic in the WRC8 makes it speed past the finish line a little behind the other racing titles already on the Switch.

8 / 10.0 - Cube Creator X
Nov 27, 2019

Cube Creator X is a great addition to the Nintendo Switch. With updated graphics, new tools and materials from the 3DS version, Cube Creator X is a must-get if you enjoyed other games in the series or if you just enjoy building and being creative.

The core arcade shoot-em-up action is what carries Battle Planet – Judgement Day through. It's a little too repetitive by design to push you straight through, but it's a fun, fairly priced diversion to boot up every now and again, especially with a buddy by your side.

3 / 10.0 - Blindy
Nov 26, 2019

Given the difficulty of Blindy, it wasn't the reason I disliked the game but more of its lack of entertainment. Blindy as a whole left players in the dark with no real fun to bring light to this platformer.

Dull, repetitive, boring, and glitchy, are just a few words I'd use to describe Ships. Steer clear of this one

Overall, Disney Tsum Tsum Festival is worthy of your time if you are a Disney enthusiast. The game is also worth a look if you want a family-oriented game and/or party game. Despite some of the title's concerning game design choices, it has such a charming atmosphere and no performance issues. Therefore, having a jolly time is inevitable.

7.5 / 10.0 - Pig Eat Ball

While boring at times, Pig Eat Ball is a fun puzzle game that manages to bring the players in with its basic mechanics and interesting world and characters.

There are some aspects of Pokémon Sword and Shield that feel like they'll reach their full potential in the next generation, but overall the game is fun, pretty and has a universality to its appeal that is genuinely impressive.

4.5 / 10.0 - The Mims Beginning
Nov 25, 2019

The Mims Beginning offers a humorous take on the god-like genre through Minions-esque characters, but a shallow story, rough graphics and performance, and basic strategy gameplay drag this title down through the depths of space.

Zen Chess is inexpensive and has many enjoyable puzzles for chess fans. But its drab presentation, coupled with no means to play a regular game of chess holds it back. How can you "Become a Chessmaster!" when you can't play a full game? Thus, what should be a pretty broad recommendation becomes narrower, making Zen Chess Collection just an okay release.

Despite the strong story and its interesting characters, the gameplay is very clearly of a game out of time, and so feels out of place on the Switch. It's difficult to recommend, especially to newcomers, but fans of the franchise may find good reasons to visit, even if for nostalgia alone.

Though not without some issues, this is a fun game for friends and family looking to waste a night without going out. So grab a mic and drink, sit down, and have fun playing Let's Sing Country.

7.5 / 10.0 - Zumba: Burn it Up!
Nov 22, 2019

Those who are familiar with or already participate in Zumba classes are going to love the familiarity of Zumba: Burn it Up and the distraction-free access to the routines. Those who aren't, however, will have to get past an initial period of ineptitude while you figure out the moves. I'd personally rather do that at home than at an actual Zumba class, but with nothing here beyond the energetic exercises to keep you motivated, actual classes will serve you better if you're in it for the long haul.

7 / 10.0 - Rabi-Ribi
Nov 21, 2019

Rabi-Ribi is fun in a lot of ways, it just focuses on being too "cute" and it disconnects the player from any actual storyline. Unless you're a fan of anime and bunny rabbits I'd probably wait for this one to go on sale.

4 / 10.0 - Incredible Mandy
Nov 21, 2019

I can't say Incredible Mandy is a bad game per se, but it is underwhelming and less than the sum of its parts. On sale, this might be an okay title for those who can embrace its mechanics and pacing. But I didn't enjoy most of its puzzles, and puzzles are its main offering.
