6.5 / 10.0 - Totes The Goat
Mar 8, 2018

Totes the Goat is decent. As a mobile port, I would've liked seeing Atooi add some light enhancements. Mild background imagery, a few different music tracks to pick from, or even local leaderboards, these would've been welcomed. But Totes still scratches that retro arcade itch.

6.5 / 10.0 - Aqua Kitty UDX
Mar 6, 2018

As a cute callback to classic arcade shooters, Aqua Kitty UDX has it moments, especially with its intense and addictive Dreadnought mode. But unless you are someone who adores the genre and has a knack for high scores, then there really isn't much depth to keep your eyes glued for long.

The Fall Part 2: Unbound is different, but certainly not better. Which isn't to say it's a bad game in and of itself, just one that missed the mark as a sequel. I hope the next installment can reflect a tightened focus, something closer to the excellent original. Ditching combat would be highly advantageous.

Despite a bumpy start, Dustoff Heli Rescue II is a decent little game for the Switch. I found more enjoyment here than I expected, and it's also tougher than it seems at first glance. Despite some flaws, which keep the game from being great, there is definitely fun to be had here.

6.5 / 10.0 - Fe
Mar 5, 2018

If you are looking for a decent, relatively short (4-6 hours) adventure game with a great art style, Fe will definitely scratch that itch. I just wish the platforming was tighter and more responsive.

9 / 10.0 - Membrane
Mar 1, 2018

Membrane is easily the most trippy title on the Nintendo eShop, and for that alone it deserves to be celebrated. Its innovative puzzle and physics mechanic is a fine example of how great indie titles can be when they take chances and go for broke. If you're looking for something radically new, don't miss out on this hidden gem.

7.5 / 10.0 - Machine Knight

Machine Knight is a very solid RPG. Genre fans should consider taking a look at it on 3DS. I'd like to see more sci-fi titles from Hit-Point in the future.

6 / 10.0 - Aegis Defenders

Aegis Defenders is very much a decent game to play that successfully blends action-platforming and tower defense together.

7.5 / 10.0 - Aperion Cyberstorm
Feb 24, 2018

With multiple modes, hundreds of maps, co-op or competitive multiplayer, and more, Aperion Cyberstorm offers a pretty good package on either Nintendo console. Wii U players are hungry for high-quality games, so this will satisfy. Kudos to aPriori Digital for supporting a wide range of Nintendo gamers.

Aperion Cyberstorm is a twin-stick shmup that's pleasing to both the eyes and ears. It's a pretty decent distraction for when you're on the bus or if you want a quick party game. Unfortunately, there's not really a whole lot of variety in gameplay. Plus, enemies can sometimes have more health than they need, making the experience repetitive. But if you need a twin stick shooter on the go, you could do worse.

8 / 10.0 - Xeodrifter
Feb 23, 2018

Summary: There's a scarcity of places to save your game, but it's not enough to pass on Xeodrifter. It's minimalism proves that there's still a place for simplicity, even on modern powerhouse consoles. It's like the first Metroid game only, you know, playable.

10 Second Run Returns may just be basic in premise and concept, but it somehow keeps you fixated with it for even if it's for a few hours. Aside from a multiplayer that needs more polish and a missing mode from the DSiWare original, this is a cheap but fun plaformer for anyone up for a quick challenge.

With gameplay that is a love letter to classics like Mario 64 and Sunshine, Poi: Explorer's Edition is a good time; even if the visuals lack detail.

8.5 / 10.0 - Romancing SaGa 2
Feb 22, 2018

Overall Romancing SaGa 2 was a great experience on the Switch. The console is a nice home for this retro gem and a lot of people are going to enjoy playing it for the first time. I highly recommend checking it out if you're a fan of this genre.

6 / 10.0 - Space Dave!
Feb 22, 2018

Cooperative play is what propels Space Dave! up to slightly above average territory. It's much more fun to beat the alien assault as a team, with each player taking a side of the screen and having the others back.

6.5 / 10.0 - Link-a-Pix Color

There isn't anything particularly outstanding about this title, but I found it enjoyable all the same. If you're a puzzle-lover looking for a quick pick-up-and-play game, this may be the game for you.

I've honestly had a lot of fun reviewing Volgarr the Viking. Sadly it comes at the close of the life of the Wii U (It's also available on the Switch). However, in my opinion, it's an instant classic, which coming from a homebrew developer that is excellent.

Despite all of its flaws, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is still a very enjoyable experience. The battle system is as fun as ever, and you will still get that satisfaction from mastering the system and taking down a tough foe. The team at Monolith Soft also stay in top form when it comes to integrating gameplay and world-building.
