9 / 10 - Indivisible
Oct 8, 2019

Indivisible manages to be something fresh and new, without ever getting too outside of the box.

9 / 10 - John Wick Hex
Oct 8, 2019

When it comes to movie and video game crossovers, most developers fail to capture the spirit of the movie’s characters while also bringing their own spin to the world. Bithell Games has managed to do both here, and if John Wick Hex is as close as we ever get to becoming John Wick, then it’s close enough for me.

It's not a masterpiece, but Concrete Genie is still a fine piece of art.

7 / 10 - Neo Cab
Oct 2, 2019

As it stands, it's getting a middling driver rating from me.

Contra: Rogue Corps may not get high marks for reinvigorating the Contra series, nor does it innovate or do anything exceptionally well. But a game that you enjoy playing doesn't have to, and I found myself enjoying this raucous shooter more than I thought I would. It may have its own fair share of problems, but its low price and low barrier entry make it a serviceable and potentially hilarious time to be had solo or with your friends.

7 / 10 - FIFA 20
Sep 27, 2019

While FIFA 20 is bogged down by the same issues that have plagued it for years, it does enough to set itself apart as a worthy installment.

Solid graphics, a smooth PC port, outstanding animations, and rewarding gameplay help eFootball PES 2020 stand out against its sports game competition. It is worth a look if you have even a passing interest in a game of footie.

NHL 20 is close to the best video game hockey experience ever made, and that should be celebrated.

9 / 10 - Borderlands 3
Sep 9, 2019

The Borderlands formula might be a bit dated with its raunchy jokes and cheesy dialogue, but that doesn’t change that it is a formula that keeps reeling players back in again and again. Despite the fact that I’ve already logged over 40 hours in the game, I still can't help but feel the want to dive back in with a new character just to experience it all again.

9 / 10 - Gears 5
Sep 4, 2019

If you never liked Gears of War before, this is not going to be the game to change your mind, as it sticks with the same formula, but does finally evolve the design in a positive way. If you were previously a Gears Stan, then this game is a must-buy.

4 / 10 - Blair Witch
Sep 3, 2019

Believe me when I say Terminal Reality's three-volume Blair Witch series is a better use of your time. Or better yet, watch the original found footage classic The Blair Witch Project if you haven't already seen it. It may be hokey, but it's culturally significant – and you may actually walk away a bit shaken.

8 / 10 - Control

It's fast-paced, fun, and pretty damn freaky — all the right elements of a perfect sci-fi thriller.

While Man of Medan isn’t the greatest game you’ll play this year, it does a good enough job of setting the Dark Pictures Anthology series out to sea.

7 / 10 - MXGP 2019
Aug 28, 2019

I can definitely recommend MXGP 19 to newcomers who are intrigued by the sport or are looking for a different kind of racing fix. It’s not the best racing I’ve done this year, but I found myself enjoying the time I spent working through the season mode (even if its structure was boring) and all the noodling around in Playground mode was entertaining.
