Scorn is gross and disgusting in all the best ways. It's a remarkably unique experience that will alienate many, but will undoubtedly find an audience of people that cherish every part of it. How big that audience is remains to be seen.
Outside of its wonderful characters, Soul Hackers 2 is mostly just competent. There's fun to be had, but it ultimately feels plain.
Everything that I love about Return of the Obra Dinn is present in The Case of the Golden Idol and more. Things are never as straightforward as they seem, and the story is so absorbing that I once again spent all night delving into each case. My only wish is that the game was longer, as I eventually completed it in four hours. But when the only flaw is that you wanted more, can it really be considered a flaw?
Midnight Fight Express is built around its encounters, yet does nothing to build them in meaningful ways. This train is going nowhere fast.
Despite its flaws, Unusual Findings is a great point-and-click puzzle adventure game which acts as a love letter to the 1980s. Filled with retro pop culture references, cheesy dialogue and memorable characters, this is one that I certainly want to play again, especially with its complex puzzle solving which can differ in each playthrough depending on your choices.
An interesting take on the '2D souls-like' genre that takes inspiration from hack and slash games like Muramasa: The Demon Blade as much as it does games like Elden Ring.
Overwatch 2 delivers the same fun gameplay as the first game, but feels lackluster as a sequel. The greatest sin that Overwatch 2 commits is the way an unrewarding and sluggish progression system, combined with an exorbitant monetization system, makes loot boxes look good.
The Fridge is Red stands or falls on its atmosphere and it has that part down on lock. Sadly, the storytelling isn't quite on the same level.
Monorail Stories' simplicity, fascinating characters, stunning art style, replayability, and interesting storyline make it a complete joy to play.
Despot’s Game is perfect for when you’re looking for something with strategy as well as a good laugh. While it’s not a game that will take up a lot of your time, it can be nice to poke your head into a couple of dungeons for an hour or so.
Those looking for epic action, combat, or elaborate gameplay will not find what they are looking for in Wayward Strand. However, I encourage everyone who wants to experience a deep, heartwarming, beautifully written tapestry of stories to take some time, relax, and sit down with Wayward Strand for a few hours. You never know who you’ll meet or what you’ll learn this time around. Remember – everyone has a story to tell, and sometimes, all you have to do is listen.
Terra Invicta brings grand strategy sensibilities to the alien invasion genre in a tour de force display of technical and artistic skill. Be prepared to lose large chunks of time and love every single moment of it.
Beacon Pines is a memorable narrative adventure game, with beautiful artworks, an excellent narration, and innovative narrative and gameplay designs that pushes the genre forward.
Three years in Early Access has brought "Re:Legend" to a highly polished visual state, but hasn't found the right balance between the disparate game systems it's trying to weave into a cohesive whole.
Kokoro Clover is full of charm, a fun story, and lots and lots of style, but with very average gameplay and a lot of little flaws that may or may not get in the way of your enjoyment.
Splatoon 3 perfects the Splatoon formula with a generation-defining experience from Nintendo. The multiplayer is deeper and more intuitive than ever before, whilst the campaign soars above its predecessors for its creativity and challenge. Gloriously flashy in its presentation and audio, Splatoon 3 stays fresh from its tutorial to the credits roll, and far beyond.
I guess calling Kaichu a bad game wouldn’t be entirely accurate. It looks nice and performs fairly well. But it just doesn’t do enough. A single playthrough takes roughly 30 minutes and even then it starts to feel a little samey towards the end. Kaichu is simply lacks depth. Quite frankly, I even struggled to find things to write about for this review.
Fans of the anime series or manga may eat it up with a spoon, but "Made In Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness" is less an action-JRPG and more of a misery simulator which equates willingness to blindly accept the painful systems as "enjoyment." If you're not a fan of the series or a glutton for cruel and unusual punishment, pass this one by.
While a little overburdened with systems and a glaring glossing over of the rampant sex trafficking and drug deaths that are a direct result of the real cartels, Cartel Tycoon is a polished management sim with intuitive UI and great visuals. If you want to feel like you're the star of Netflix's Narcos, you've come to the right place.
The Nirvana Initiative improves on its predecessor in every way, bringing in twice as many interesting, layered characters that all get their time in the sun, crazy mysteries with twists i never saw coming, intelligent writing, vastly improved puzzles, impeccable voice acting and the best soundtrack of the year. I am shocked to say this, but I think the package as a whole outdoes Spike Chunsoft’s previous works.
