Pepper Grinder is exactly the game you turn on when you have a long moment and get everything you want. No complicated story, short and quick levels in cute graphics, while you can always go back and hone your skills to perfection. The different game mechanics can spice up the experience of each level, but they get boring very quickly and then lose their charm. Plus, it's a relatively short game that you'll quickly devour, unless you're trying to play everything at 100%. That will take a while.

The Thaumaturge is a game that focuses mainly on its story. From the start, it captures your attention with its links to history, magic, and Slavic folklore. The characters are well-written, but the whole experience is spoiled by monotonous dubbing and almost no facial expressions. The streets of Warsaw are far too quiet, and without the option to travel fast, you'll spend far too much time in them. However, the city is very well crafted, along with the overall design of the characters and solutions. Uncovering people's secrets through perception is interesting, but the fights are more entertaining, with the need to change your tactics based on your opponents. The game includes dialogue options that significantly impact relationships with people and the events in the story. This will make you want to return to the title and try out the different playthrough options.

Persona 3 Reload is the remake that every game deserves. The title doesn't try to alter the game design frantically but instead carefully tweaks the audiovisual side of the game and slightly enriches its already unique gameplay. It offers an incredibly fun gameplay loop that even in the middle of the game comes up with new gameplay mechanics, and above all a great story and characters that you'll enjoy almost every dialogue with. While the game fails to eliminate all the oversteps of the original 2006 game, it mixes up as unique a recipe as you'll ever taste in the gaming world.

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is a nice relaxing game you can play for a few hours. The game mechanics won't impress anyone, but it compensates with fantastic dubbing and imaginative humor. The Happy Broccoli Games studio created an intense film noir atmosphere with cute visuals. Solving cases as a duck detective will keep you entertained and make you wish that the game would get a sequel as soon as possible.

9 / 10 - Nine Sols
Jun 23, 2024

Nine Sols is an almost perfectly executed game. The story and its narrative may be a bit lacking in places, but that's made up for by the absolutely brilliant combat system, map design and stunning visuals and soundtrack. If you like a proper challenge, this 2D Dark Souls is a must play!

Workers and Resources: the Soviet Republic is certainly a great representative of builder strategies. It offers excellent complexity and replayability. It oozes the right atmosphere, both graphically and sonically. The free-play mode offers plenty of options for different settings, including a realistic mode. However, the complexity can also be frustrating, as the game can't always explain the workings of certain chains correctly, for example, in production, even though it includes information tables where the mechanics are described.

Shadow of the Erdtree is by no means a perfect expansion. For that, it would have to have a better ending, a final boss, avoid technical errors, repetition of some enemies, and maybe even add some extra weapons. However, that doesn't bring it down significantly from being a worthy expansion to the original game and something that its fans shouldn't miss under any conceivable circumstances. Because otherwise, it's a great experience. The level design is top notch and the atmosphere, story extensions and new weapon categories are absolutely brilliant. This 30-hour adventure is definitely worth it, just don't expect it to do much more than "just" add those 30 hours to the original game.

9 / 10 - V Rising
Jun 16, 2024

V Rising is a vampire title from Stunlock Studios, bringing an original theme to survival games. It offers an excellent experience for those who want to test their skills against other players and those who prefer to build in peace. It addresses issues plaguing other multiplayer survival games by offering players predefined rule sets to enter. We appreciate the dynamic adaptation throughout the game regarding equipment and spells. The fact that you play as a vampire is felt at every turn. The mechanics of sunburn and blood drinking are original and fun. Although Stunlock previously worked on smaller projects that unfortunately didn't last long in the spotlight, they now bring an entertaining game for several hundred hours.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake for Nintendo Switch is an amazing RPG remake that brought one of, if not THE best, Mario RPG to the modern system. Not only that, but they kept the original soul while adding many new quality-of-life additions.

9 / 10 - Playing Kafka
May 28, 2024

Studio Charles Games is known for its unconventional games, which are unafraid of deep themes. Playing Kafka can once again be counted among these works. Although each person will have different feelings about the experience, all will take away a sense of the heavy ideas that Kafka uses in his works. You can influence the story, but only slightly. You'll keep asking yourself what you did wrong, what you could have done better, and how it all ended. The musical accompaniment adds to the experience, and the Czech dubbing adds an imaginary crown to it all.

The developers at Ninja Theory had a clear goal with Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. And they did it almost perfectly. The script of the amazingly crafted story is complemented by perfect acting performances and the entire audiovisuals, from sounds and music to graphics that will take your breath away. If this is precisely what you're looking for and liked the first game, then you know what you're getting into, and you definitely won't go wrong. It's a shame that it's more of a movie than a game. Because, as a game, it's languishing in many ways. Even as a walking simulator.

This game aimed to dig out of the depths of the gaming lore of "Wizardry 1" in a way that respected the original but still adapted the entire experience to modern times. It has undoubtedly succeeded. Players who want to conquer this forefather of the RPG genre will have to prepare a lot of patience.

8 / 10 - Indika

Indika is a thrilling game with wild scenarios, well-integrated music, graphics, and gameplay. However, it's slightly marred by minor glitches during environment transitions and repetitive point-collecting mechanics.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU impresses visually but falls short in gameplay. It struggles to manage its ambitions in the Metroidvania genre effectively. The game often feels overwhelmed by unnecessary ideas, suggesting a more straightforward, linear approach might have been more effective than its overstretched attempt to emulate successes like Ori and the Blind Forest.

8 / 10 - Stellar Blade
Apr 24, 2024

Stellar Blade excels in many areas, making it a remarkable debut for Shift Up. This action-packed, well-crafted action RPG honors its genre and its Korean developers. The game remains thoroughly enjoyable despite some flaws, such as drawn-out sections in the second act and a story that doesn’t hit as intended.

7 / 10 - Sand Land
Apr 24, 2024

Sand Land effectively conveys its story through seamless animations and gameplay. The simple combat system is enhanced by the ability to upgrade machines and components, keeping the gameplay engaging. Despite its vast but sparse open world, there are always side quests or locations like bandit camps to explore, though these tasks can be pretty basic.

Sons of Valhalla blends Viking themes with various genres, creating a unique and addictive game. The detailed pixel art and Norse mythology-inspired story add charm, though a repetitive horde mode and occasional frame drops slightly mar the game.

Fashion Dreamer is based on older flash games in which the goal was to customize your character's clothes. It expands this simple fun quite well to fulfill the dreams of many fashion lovers. But without a specific goal, you will rather just wander through the game.

Taxi Life becomes another addition to the long line of unpolished simulators. Barcelona may be a lovely city entire of sun, but a strange driving model, monotonous conversations with passengers, and repetitive tasks ruin the overall experience. A little more effort could have made the final game much better. Right now, though, it is an experience meant only for actual city driving enthusiasts.

Dragon's Dogma 2 essentially reprises and enhances the concepts from its predecessor, focusing on exploration and engaging combat. While it generally succeeds, the game suffers from repetitiveness in enemies and combat, and has notable optimization issues. Despite these flaws, it remains a must-play for action RPG enthusiasts and fans of immersive worlds.
