Sonic X Shadow Generations is, simply, brilliant. It does everything you want it to and then some. Is it perfect? The answer is no, it isn’t, but heck it’s fun!
It has a lot of fun mechanics like unique vehicles and rewarding challenges. However, the level designs did not encapsulate me in the way I was hoping. This game is packaged wonderfully with lovely music and visual design and a decent game within. However, I think the price is just a bit too high right now.
As a whole, Decline’s Drops is a beautiful game. The art, style, and combat blend nicely into a package that is simply fun. I enjoyed learning how to master my main character and uncovering different secrets. I did feel that I could have been rewarded a bit more for skilful gameplay, but even just exploring the game and finding secrets was already very enjoyable. Decline’s Drops is a lot of fun, and I recommend it.
If you are a fan of Zelda games or old-school RPGs you will love Echoes of Wisdom. It’s one of my favourite games of the year and just shows that even if you change the core mechanics of a fan-favourite franchise, as long as it’s done with love and care, it can be a great success. Echoes is a perfect blend of old-school Zelda with sprinklings of open-ended puzzle-solving seen in more recent entries in the series.
Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a party sports game featuring the Looney Tunes characters. The sports featured are soccer, tennis, basketball, and golf. Did these two concepts blend to create an engaging experience? Find out in this Rapid Review.
Overall, Crow Country is a title I can easily recommend. The interesting puzzles and captivating world-building kept me hooked throughout my playthrough. Each of these elements blended nicely too, and created a package that felt realistic, rewarding, and engaging. Though I found the combat to be tricky in the beginning, I have no issues recommending this game to people who are familiar with survival horror titles or even those who have not spent much time with the genre.
Currently, while I like many things, I also do not think there is enough interesting content for the price being asked. Moving around the game is a lot of fun and I could increase the difficulty by adding additional challenges too. I am optimistic that the game will be excellent as updates continue to launch, however, I would suggest waiting for future updates before diving in.
Super Catboy is an action-platforming video game showcasing a cat with a wide arsenal of attacks. Though nothing in the trailer caught my eye immediately, the visual style was pleasant and generally, I enjoy platformers. Thus, I was eager to give this title a shot. Astro Bot is not only one of the best games I have played this year but one of my most fun video game experiences in recent memory.
Bloodhound could have been a worthy opponent for titles like Prodeus, Doom and company (speaking of the classics), but it remains a soulless attempt that can bore us despite its short duration. The trailer promises frenetic action (and there is), but it seems that its low price is a reflection of its poor quality.
Overall, Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is a solid game. The writing is good, and I enjoyed learning more about the world. However, I almost found it was held back by being a visual novel instead of just a regular novel. In my experience, the pacing was slow, and the gameplay elements of the title simply did not add much. I enjoyed looking at the visuals, but considering the steep price of the title, it is hard to justify.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape has easily surpassed my expectations and those of the community. It has been stated as the best expansion in Destiny history, and for good reason. The only flaw I’ve been able to find are the number of hidden requirements for unlocking the Khavostov Exotic gun, but it’s absolutely worth it in the end! This expansion is what everyone has been waiting for and was certainly worth the delayed release. All I can say is BUY IT, BUY IT NOW!
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble is a mixed bag of fun and frustration. The single-player campaign is the star of the show, offering a solid selection of levels and engaging gameplay that harkens back to the classic days of Monkey Ball. The spin dash ability adds a refreshing twist to the core mechanics, keeping the gameplay exciting and dynamic. Unfortunately, the multiplayer modes fall short of expectations, hampered by chaotic gameplay and frame rate issues. Despite these shortcomings, Banana Rumble is worth exploring for fans of the series who are eager for more single-player antics. While it may not reach the heights of the original GameCube titles, it still delivers a satisfying experience that’s sure to keep players rolling back for more.
“Kena: Bridge of Spirits” is a visually stunning and enjoyable action-adventure game that respects your time, offering a delightful 10-hour journey through its mystical world. Despite its narrative and gameplay simplicity, it delivers captivating combat and a charming atmosphere. While it may not reach the polish of Sony’s big exclusives, it stands out as a commendable first effort from Ember Lab, earning a silver 4.5 out of 5 from Rapid Reviews UK.
As a whole, ProtoCorgi is a very solid game. I think it provides an ample amount of content. Plus, that content kept me engaged, and I felt rewarded throughout my journey. Since I had to replay sections multiple times, I found some minor frustrations, but as a whole, ProtoCorgi is a game I can recommend, even to novice shoot-em-up fans.
Leximan is a lot of fun. The personality of the characters shines through, and I found it very refreshing to play a story-focused RPG with a unique style of turn-based combat. Where Leximan truly excels, however, is in the writing. The storyline has a bunch of interesting developments, and the characters are funny. Though this is not the most mechanically complex game, it certainly struck a chord and left its mark on me.
Despite a rocky path to the Switch, Deliver Us The Moon delivers a captivating narrative adventure that stands out. The docked experience shines with impressive graphics and smooth performance, offering an engaging experience that feels right at home on the console. While the game does take a visual hit compared to more powerful platforms, it remains visually appealing and retains its atmosphere.
New Star GP feels like it has the most heart that I’ve seen in a racing game in a while. I would like for some game modes to be playable outside of the career mode. I think the game itself is fun enough for you to want to keep coming back over and over. Given its lower price point compared to other racing games, it’s one of the best game racing experiences on the market.
Princess Peach’s adventure through the Sparkle Theatre is one full of charm and wonder. There’s a great deal of variety to see across the game’s ample runtime. You’ll explore plenty of areas inspired by some of gaming’s beloved genres. However, it’s not as engaging as other Mario-verse outings, Showtime! does plenty to build upon Peach as a Princess who can take care of herself, as seen in the recent Mario Bros movie. For most Princess Peach Showtime! will be a done-in-one and will be quickly forgotten. But with its quirky cast of new enemies, simple and engaging gameplay, and interesting location, Nintendo has laid the foundations to create more adventures for their princess while she’s not getting kidnapped by Bowser.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a fantastic remake that breathes new life into a beloved classic. With improved controls, stunning visuals, and engaging gameplay, it’s a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike. Whether you’re revisiting Evershade Valley or experiencing it for the first time, Luigi’s spooky adventure is one you won’t want to miss.
