Garlic is a highly stylized action-platformer featuring a humanoid garlic character attempting to ascend a tower and woo a goddess at the top. The concept is silly, for sure, but having watched some trailers, I had high hopes that I would enjoy the gameplay. Did it meet my standards? Find out in this Rapid Review.
Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons is set in the year 199X where a nuclear war has devastated New York City. Citizens are left to their own devices by fighting for their survival as riots and crime invade the streets. The city has been overtaken by criminal gangs fighting for total dominance of the now-destroyed Big Apple. It’s up to young Billy and Jimmy Lee to take it upon themselves to drive the gangs out of their city.
Pikmin 4 is the latest and long-awaited addition to the Pikmin series. These games focus on real-time strategy and exploration, rewarding players for navigating landscapes and exploring for treasure. Having enjoyed Pikmin 3 on the WiiU, I was eager to begin this title too. Did it meet my expectations? Find out in this Rapid Review.
Fall of Porcupine is a delightful narrative adventure game on the Nintendo Switch that takes players on an odd little journey through the town of Porcupine. With anthropomorphic animal characters, charming graphics, and immersive gameplay it fits snugly into the ‘cozy’ game category and feels so at home on the Switch. Despite this, Fall of Porcupine is a thought-provoking exploration of themes such as loss and the challenges of modern healthcare. It never shy’s away from heavy conversation topics.
Diablo IV is arguably one of the most anticipated games to be released in 2023. Arriving 11 long years after the amazing Diablo 3 (and one mildly disappointing mobile game), it certainly has some big boots to fill with high expectations to fulfil. Thankfully, Diablo IV comes out swinging its comically oversized axe and hits a near-perfect critical hit. Although there are a couple of minor issues, it certainly doesn’t stray too far from the already established path. Diablo IV is, undoubtedly, the greatest Diablo has ever been.
A little over three years ago, I reviewed Super Mega Baseball 3 for the site. It wasn’t the first baseball game I had played, but it was the first after I found a deep enjoyment from and interest in the sport. Now, I have the honour of reviewing the next title in the series, the cunningly titled Super Mega Baseball 4. Has a three-year wait been worth it? Find out in this rapid review.
Innerspace, the talented team behind A Fisherman’s Tale, has once again demonstrated their mastery of creating visually stunning worlds. Another Fisherman’s Tale takes players to new and unique locations, each brought to life with meticulous detail and artistic flair. Each distinct chapter has a varied look and feel. Characters in the world look like woodcut puppets with rope-like arms and a cell-shaded painterly style. There are several objects you will interact with throughout the game like opening up boxes, pulling levers and switches, steering your boat or a crane, and more.
Greyhill Incident is set in the fictional town of Greyhill, where paranormal activities are mysteriously on the rise. Our protagonist, Ryan Baker, takes it upon himself to figure out what’s going on, only to realize that aliens have landed and they are real. While everyone is worried about alerting the police in fear of getting locked up, Baker decides to take matters into his own hands and save Greyhill.
In a world where life moves at a million miles an hour, everyone needs some downtime. Whether that be going for a leisurely jog around the block or staying in to enjoy some escapism through the latest Nintendo release. Gaming has been a part of our lives for a very long time (1972 specifically) and has been used as a tool to escape the harsh reality of modern-day life. We are lucky that we have such a wide variety of games available to choose from. One of the most popular genres is simulation.
After the recent success of the Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town remake back in 2019, it made nothing but sense to see Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life receive the same treatment. It’s a well-revered entry in the Harvest Moon franchise from the PS2 and GameCube days, and expectation has been high ever since its announcement.
Mega Man Battle Network is a brand new type of adventure for Capcom’s successful blue bomber. While fans know him for his 2D run and gun hardcore antics, this new spinoff is a tactical role-playing game series. The series began way back in 2001 and garnered high praise which resulted in 6 main games and spinoffs of a spinoff.
Go undercover as the world’s greatest secret agents in this multiplayer game of social stealth and subterfuge. Disguise yourself as anyone to blend into the crowd, deploy high-tech gadgets to gain the upper hand, and extract the package before the competition takes it for themselves! No trick is too dirty when you work for DECEIVE INC.
I first raised my interest in reviewing AEW: FIght Forever back in 2021. Having watched its development over the years and suffered through the delays and update doldrums, I was over the moon to see launch day creeping ever closer. Getting a review code a week early was enough to warrant a widely used Vince McMahon GIF, but we can’t credit the opposition this early on in a review.
Have you ever wanted to ride on motocross courses set inside of stadiums on some of the fastest bikes in the world? Well, Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 4 might be for you.
I fell in love with Cal Kestis and BD-1 almost immediately upon playing Jedi: Fallen Order, and ate up the new Star Wars content to add to the canon and ever growing universe. I loved the story of a young Jedi in hiding and discovering characters and events within that time line. As a game, the combat was challenging but satisfying and the exploration fun. Now, 4 years later, we have been given a sequel in Jedi: Survivor. With such a good original game, does the sequel live up to it?
OTXO is a fast-paced top-down shooter seemingly inspired by Hotline Miami. However, this game is a rogue-like, meaning upon death, I had to begin all the way from the very beginning. Did these two elements combine to create something meaningful? Find out in this Rapid Review.
Aquarist is a case of the right game coming along at the right time. Aquarist is a calming simulator that places you in charge of increasingly large and complex aquariums. Following the likes of other simulator games, it promises a calming but engaging gameplay experience. Read this rapid review to find out if it delivers.
Bricklandia brings you Lego driving with a twist. An open-world adventure where you can create and operate your own Lego vehicle. Street-based racing, off-road adventuring or water shenanigans, your vehicle transforms wherever you find yourself!
I’ve been writing reviews for this site for a number of years now, and one of the best things about it, for me, is picking a game I know nothing about and enjoying the surprise it offers. Reviewing games has helped me step outside of my comfort zone numerous times. Some of my favourite reviews have been on games I would have passed over had I known more about them before I took the code.
Wobbledogs is a 3D pet simulation game where you play with, feed and breed an ever-growing pack of mutating dogs. This is a casual, hands-off game without a set narrative or set of instructions for you to follow. You can look after your dogs as actively or as passively as you like, and can dedicate playtime to the aspects of the game that you enjoy most, whether that be playing with your dogs, designing the perfect living spaces for them or breeding them together.
