7.5 / 10.0 - Soul Hackers 2
Jan 18, 2023

Soul Hackers 2 is a solid turn-based RPG, but it fails to introduce anything new or consolidate all elements of the introduced experience. Fortunately, it features great characterization and a solid plot that keeps us on our toes throughout the game. Fans of Shin Megami Tensei will certainly be able to enjoy it, but overall there are better alternatives.

Final Fantasy:Crisis Core Reunion is one of the best remasters I've ever played. With a completely overhauled look for today market, refined gameplay and a renowned soundtrack, it's easily one of the best RPGs of the year. Despite some details that could be worked better, this is a title that will truly delight fans and give due prominence to a great character in this world.

Need for Speed Unbound is a game quite interesting to drive, visually appealing and have countless cars to choose from (although we wont't ever have the money to buy them!). However, it becomes fatal and boring due to the repetition imposed, either by the racing, running from the police, or even the frustration of having to decide which tracks to do with all the nuances that entails. With the help of a good soundtrack, we can almost smell the Underground but unfortunately it's not quite there yet.

God of War: Ragnarök is nothing short of a divine experience, on every level. It somehow manages to improve on everything from the phenomenal 2018 entry. The story, gameplay, environmental design, technical consistency, performances – it's all absolutely flawless. This work of art is challenging, it's impactful, it's exciting, it's touching and it's beautiful. For all that and more, this is a title that deserves to join the pantheon of one of the best works in our industry. There are no perfect games, but damn if God of War: Ragnarök isn't incredibly close to that feat.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is a title to consider for several reasons. The fact that it incorporates the different mechanics in a balanced and non-excessive way makes it a very solid experience, the only sin being that this new version for PS5 does not add practically anything new compared to versions of previous generations. However, the humorous aspect present is really great and it gives a lot of pleasure, always with a smile on your face!

New Tales From The Borderlands, was an unexpected announcement. For those who loved the first title, like me, it was another game to end on my wishlist. It definitely presents itself with a completely different personality: funnier, more interaction between the characters, a completely new story and with a new cast (but with some familiar faces). However, the lack of "real" gameplay is quite notorious, the secondary characters have few moments of "fame" and their story is quite confusing. New Tales From The Borderlands is far from being a reasonable game, on the contrary, it is even a must-have game for anyone who loves this genre and especially anyone who is a fan of the original Borderlands series, as well as the adaptation made by Telltale Games.

Return to Monkey Island is above all a return to the origins of the series. They say that lightning never strikes the same place twice, but Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman managed to create an experience that in every way evokes the feelings conveyed by the original titles. Let's hope that Guybrush's adventures (these new adventures) don't stop there! We suspect that there are still many stories behind this infamous secret!

We've played a lot of war games, some were really good, others were just horrible and my expectations for this game were a little low, also because lately the series has promised a lot and delivered little. However, we were surprised quite positively. The story is simply incredible and maybe one of the best if not the best we've ever played in a Call of Duty game (yes, we dare say it's better than the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2). It has a bit of everything, drama, plot twists, anxious moments and plenty of enthusiasm. The multiplayer is well polished (except the respawn), with everything to improve even more over the coming months. In general, Activision has once again shown that it manages to reboot without tarnishing the image of a game that was once recognized by many as the best of the year in question.

8.5 / 10.0 - Bayonetta 3
Nov 16, 2022

Bayonetta 3 is one of those games where you can't help but feel good while playing. Taking the work of the previous game and improving on it in practically every aspect, this title offers us a much more diverse, fun gameplay and a more consistent and appealing story with excellent characters and touching twists. Not even the fact that it is one step away from disaster from a technical point of view prevents Bayonetta 3 from being one of the easiest games to recommend to everyone this year.

8 / 10.0 - Gotham Knights
Nov 2, 2022

If Gotham Knights is an original game? No, but that does not detract from being a solid experience. Giving prominence and opportunity to secondary heroes to shine and being able to even switch between them, brings a healthy variety of distinct games in the genre. One of its strong points is definitely the interesting plot, relegating to the second line the leading role that Batman had in this world. There are some points that could be fixed in a simple way and maybe with updates they will, but overall it's a good superhero game with the usual atmosphere of the Batman universe. With the Multiplayer mode still being polished, we may have a few more hours of entertainment here to spend with friends or enthusiasts of this genre.

8.5 / 10.0 - Chaos;Child
Oct 27, 2022

Directly succeeding CHAOS;HEAD NOAH is no easy task, but CHAOS;CHILD manages to be a worthy experience. Its story is exciting and addictive from start to finish, the characters and supernatural elements are better enjoyed and the consequences of CHAOS;HEAD NOAH are approached in an extremely satisfying way for those who played it without alienating those who start their journey in this universe in the second title. It's still hard to swallow the impossibility of finishing the final and most conclusive route, and small problems with the presentation and flaws in the script pop up with some frequency.

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a good action/adventure game that focuses on a diversified combat and narrative to bring a pleasant experience to the player. There are a few opportunities of improvement, such as the simplistic textures (which also tend to become repetitive) or the lack of guidance features in the map or cenarios (which tend to difficultate our navigation to the objective). Still, in a global context, these are aspects that don't spoil the experience much and we recommended our readers to give the irreverent Hilda a chance!

8 / 10.0 - Chaos;Head Noah
Oct 24, 2022

With a nontraditional protagonist, quite intriguing mysteries, shenanigans and a meticulously considered cadence of events, CHAOS;HEAD NOAH delivers an intriguing story that's impossible to put down before the credits. While the content of this work remains excellent almost 15 years after the original release, this release is hampered by a series of problems inherent to the work of conversion and localization, such as the impossibility of completing the true ending of the game and the censorship of moments in the story, important for understanding its mysteries.

8 / 10.0 - Overwatch 2
Oct 20, 2022

Overwatch 2 came to fix some problems of the first title, improved the graphics, the gameplay and brought some new characters. The bugs that it presents are correctable and, although annoying, they do not harm the fun that the game offers to the players. Was it really necessary to release a new game instead of just doing an update? Not really. However the content is there and there is really a (minimally) significant improvement compared to the first title.

8 / 10.0 - FIFA 23
Oct 13, 2022

FIFA 23 is one of those entries in this series that, in fact, improves several aspects and meets some criticisms or requests from fans. The career mode is more customizable than ever and introduces some important additions, and the expansion of women's football modes is a great step forward for the game. What's more, the fact that we now have a really fun set-piece system and that the new animations make every game moment more realistic and exciting, deserve all the praise. I just can't say that this title enters the top of the best simulators for the insistence of errors and unresolved problems, and for the fact that its most popular mode continues to be incredibly unbalanced and uncontrolled. But if you are fans of the king's sport, you have one of the most solid offerings of recent years here, which is presented as a great goal at the end of the curtain.

Preserving the standard of quality that defines Yacht Club Games and evolving several pillars of the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove experience, Shovel Knight Dig is not just a spin-off. This is a refreshing reinterpretation of the series' formula that, with refined platforming mechanics and an array of inventive enemies and gimmicks, has everything to satisfy fans of the genre and especially the paddled knight. However, this adventure is short-lived, especially if you just want to reach the end of the journey. Additionally, while the roguelite format adds to the longevity of this title, the process of generating the levels can lead to some mild frustrations.

9 / 10.0 - Splatoon 3
Sep 29, 2022

With a massive amount of small refinements and some unexpected additions, Splatoon 3 is the most polished and robust iteration of the series. Online game modes have become mechanically richer and have a more intuitive interface, and Story Mode is a delightful surprise that, for the first time in the series, deserves to be seen as a must. If you've never experienced the series, this is the perfect entry point, representing Splatoon at its heyday. If you're a long-time fan, you might miss a deeply sounding new twist towards Splatoon 2, but the quality of life improvements and eradication of past frustrations will make a return to the previous game unimaginable.

The Legend of Heroes : Trails From Zero is an excellent, and I reiterate, excellent RPG title for fans. Being associated with a saga helps in that respect, because we always want more, and the Trails saga gives us more. It takes some patience to endure the slow but interesting development of the plot, where the care taken to unite these four characters and their different personalities is palpable, making us immerse ourselves in the story that is presented. This charisma, allied to the captivating strategic combats, makes this creation a title to take into account even today.

9.5 / 10.0 - Inscryption
Sep 22, 2022

Inscryption is one of those striking, memorable games that makes us wish there was a Portuguese word for the term “mindfuck.” Each of the three acts has something unique to offer, both mechanically and narratively, and it is almost always a pleasure to learn the new gameplay nuances that are being put before us and to appreciate the creativity of a story that takes advantage of so much of the potential of the medium of video Games. Were it not for some of the serious difficulty balance issues, we would be debating this game here as being very, very close to perfection. If you are fans of indies with unique and distinct premises, you will find few titles as appealing as this one.

Made in Abyss is an interesting title that features a premise and plot that faithfully follow the anime experience and even prove to be truly captivating. The way it blends character development elements with inventory management and survival mechanics is well implemented and introduces a welcomed differentiation . Mainly the concept of the variation of depth affecting the gameplay, it's an aspect that puts us in a different mindset from all other games. However, the title's pacing works against itself, as it is full of moments that cut the natural course of the story. Particularly noteworthy is the amount of content-filling missions, which could be avoided or reworked. Fundamentally, this is a title that allows anime fans to interact with their favorite characters and live their own adventure as explorers of the abyss! All this while visiting the captivating and intriguing areas of the deep!
