For the Nintendo Switch owners, who also happen to be fans of Dragonball Z franchise, one of the best of all has now become available for the popular handheld. New addition of difficulty adjustments allow you to enjoy the game as close as the original manga’s anointed amount of power levels for each character and new story contents will let you extend the play time up to 50 hours of gameplay. But if you’re new to the immense world of DBZ, there will be several obstacles that may bring some disappointments. It’s a fitting game to remind you of the grand sentiments that you felt from the original animated series.

This improved IDOLM@ASTER title has been blessed with the power of the Unreal Engine. With its 15 year strong fan base and influence, it’s becoming difficult to find a competitor title in its similar genre. Every present character shows passionate personalities and more than enough properties to enjoy this raising simulator to the fullest. Some of the progression forces players to raise even some of those who you won’t really find the attachment to, but in order to clear the game, you have no choice but to do so. When things don’t work out your way, you’ll also find yourself loading back save files until you’re fully satisfied but if you continue on ‘new game plus’, you’ll find it easier to achieve your goal. Since there are plenty of characters to meet and raise, trying to uncover all conversations and events will be a joy to discover.

This is the 30th anniversary edition of the Super Robot Wars. Many new systems have been implemented while all the nook and crannies have been improved as well. Take it like festivities if you will, the level grinds has become less stressful but some of the UI feels they’re out of place. It’s one of the best of the series so far and definitely headed the right direction since the release of Super Robot Wars Alpha.

9 / 10.0 - Timelie
Jan 9, 2022

The best thing about Timelie is the mechanism that allows you to see the future. There have been plenty of time manipulating mechanisms from various games in the past but it’s one of a kind to be implemented in a puzzle environment. The solid foundation of the story also backs up the quality of the game. Not only have they focused on the mechanisms that sugarcoat the genre, but also the element of storytelling is one of the finest out there.

While there’s a little tidbit in regards to distinguishing between the UI and interactable objects, this dreamy environment of a game blends perfectly with the protagonist, Ina. Her movements are lavishing as she adventures to find hidden paths and regions to resonate with spirits to solve puzzles and move around objects to get to her goal. Whilst all these activities are enjoyable, the game’s focus is on delivering its main concept and the message is clearly portrayed to the player. The only downside would be that the entire gameplay could end in around a couple of hours, but it's well worth the time spent in accomplishing its content to the fullest.

9 / 10.0 - Farm Together
Feb 18, 2022

Being able to live in a peaceful farmland is a gift any human being would take up the offer to stay far from the stressful city life. Although the first impression of this game may seem pretty light in form, the mechanics of the game is deep enough to have convenient features and some of the online functionalities seem like they've been thoroughly tested. Since the game has very chill vibes, you’ll sometimes get confused on where to start off with, but just being able to watch the firewood crackling as they burn and watching plants grow can become a healing activity for your mind.

WitchSpring3 was originally available in mobile platforms, but has been ported and found a better refined home at the Nintendo Switch library. With no complex difficulty levels, the game is well approachable by all ages. Character designs, background renders have become much smoother in higher resolution so everything feels like a big visual upgrade. Clean UI and fully voiced dialogue for the entire ride is a bonus touch to evaluate the story of its world without discrimination and warmth. The main story is based on a witch and a boy who agree to lean on and become each other’s light in the forest full of foggy mist. After your first initial adventure comes to an end, the additional contents fill in the extra colors for a more diverse world to explore and discover.

9 / 10.0 - Weird West
Mar 31, 2022

While there are definitely some flaws to the game, the dev team has proven that their ideas since the build up of their crew, to the end result of the game has shown the interactivity works as intended. The five characters with individual stories show some connection between them, and regardless of which decisions you make, the butterfly effect that occurs due to conflict of interest will affect the future combat difficulty. The inclusive and ever evolving world is immersive and interesting to date.

9 / 10.0 - Sonic Origins
Jun 21, 2022

Sonic Origins is a reimagination of the classic Sonic series which applies some modernized ideas. For a series franchise that had lived just over 30 years, it’s another opportunity for the dev team to look back and reminisce of the basics. Just like most compilation packaged games, there is plenty of content to find and check out. With the addition of record keeping leaderboards for each stages and corners, the dev team’s vision has finally acknowledged the voices of the Sonic community. Sonic Origins would by far be the best addition to the library of Sonic games collection, for all Sonic fans since the classic days.

9 / 10.0 - DNF Duel
Jun 30, 2022

DNF Duel is full of fun with katana flinging actions galore, especially focused on favoring the aggressor. Finding the correct punishes may be tough but the skill curve is not as steep as some of the other traditional fighting games. There is enough single player content to get you right into the DNF universe and even the online playability is equipped with the fan favorite rollback netcode to minimize any latency issues. Those who are not familiar with Dungeon & Fighter can dive straight into the action as it serves its own universe apart from the original IP.

Beautiful scenery and scores that creates a full fledged cinematic experience. Topped with the emotional narratives which surely brings warmth to all gamers. Each chapter feels unique on their own but still keeps the overall flow in alignment with the story, which was possible with the creative map designs throughout the gameplay.

An excellent example of a creatively reimagined game which perfectly draws the line to not stumble upon neither the Touhou project or Castlevania franchises. As the developer has collated various ideas from both inspirations, the mix of air and ground actions in a creative fashion, thus making it one step further than just a fan made project.

9 / 10.0 - Colorgrid
Mar 12, 2023

The puzzle elements of Colorgrid focuses on using the primary colors to mix and match with squares of dfferent property within a grid-like layout. With its straightforward UI, the 70 different stages felt unique to each other and felt encouraging to uncover more interesting stages to clear through. The key controls requiring rotation and using reflective surfaces were placed in a clever way, just enough to provide fulfillment on finding solutions to each puzzle. The game’s main structure seemed quite clever once colors required to be mixed to create new colors.

9 / 10.0 - Tekken 8
Jan 23, 2024

The main focus of the game’s concept heavily promotes aggressiveness. So the low-risk, high-return situations have been reduced and with the addition of the Heat system, this drives players to be in reach even more, but let’s not forget that a fighting game also requires precise spacing thus making it virtually similar from its predecessor. There have been some short-cut action buttons for beginner players and plenty of content to teach the understanding of how a fighting game may be played. Of all the Tekken series in the past, this one is definitely the most beginner friendly and have designed their system in order to narrow its gap, with the hopes of keeping both the returning players as well as providing convenience to the newcomers.

This is an ultimate text-adventure game where the player is left to deduct clues while puzzle solving through two different dimensions. The storytelling paths crossover between character perspective and timeline. The game attempts to become its own form of emotional storytelling medium just like the classic format of literature, which were mainly restricted to paperback novels. Since video games bring in the advantage of interactivity, the developers try their best to make the modern gaming form as immersive as books have become.

Other than the limits of remastering the visuals of the old classic, there were no disappointments in the gameplay elements at all. With the added convenience on top of the above standard user interface, the gameplay session was much smoother than expected. Unlike the original, the new functionality allows players to pre-set their Gambits as well as forming new License Boards any time you want. Biggest improvement of course is the quick transition between loading times. All in all it’s a positive update well fit for the current generation of consoles.

Of all Musou genre titles out there, this Zelda spin-off of the original The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is not just a reskinned Mosou series but a complete package full of cutting-edge animation and strategic properties to interact with. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity leaves a mark for fans and enthusiasts of all Zelda franchises as well as those who enjoy Mosou style of mass hack and slasher action genres. There are some technical hiccups when there are too many objects and enemies, but it is well forgiven due to the highly polished level of the game as well as some of the background explanations and additional storylines to fill in the gaps of some of the question marks from BOTW. If you want to experience the full circle of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, we recommend you play BOTW to the fullest and see its ending first.

88 / 100 - Judgment
Apr 30, 2021

The original game which was released on PS4 has received some visual and performance upgrades on the latest generation console. The game is known for its artistic structure along with the writing and interactions which is highly renowned as the key element of the game. Also so great that they’d cover up some minor hiccups if there were any. While the story plot is somewhat spectacular in scale, players don’t need to study up on any background history or other articles to understand and enjoy the game to its fullest. So if you haven’t played this game already, there’s no excuse to give it a try. Since there aren’t any added contents in this new version, if you’ve already played the PS4 variant, there won’t be much of a difference in gameplay. But all in all it’s a great value for a PS5 game so there’s plenty of replay value on its upgraded platform.

With positive context, it’s an ‘another Assassin’s Creed game’. The visuals have definitely improved to follow suit with the latest generation of console. Can’t say that it has received any revolutionary updates since the prequel, but for the fans who were waiting for a ‘new Assassin’s Creed game’, it’s a good game that fills your satisfactory expectations nonetheless.
