Grind Survivors is a fantastic entry to the bullet-heaven roguelite catalogue. If games like Vampire Survivors are your jam, then you’ll have a blinding time with this one. Not only is it addictively moreish, but it’s also well-optimised for consoles, super-polished, and looks stunning on a 4k screen. I’ve piled well over 40 hours into this one so far, and I’m still ticking off achievements. For a very reasonable £12.49 on the Xbox store, you’ll get your money’s worth for sure. If you fancy a copy for yourself, then you can purchase a copy HERE.
For a collection priced at £24.99, that price point is very hit or miss for people who are on the fence or not that into Marvel and just wanting some side scrolling action. The value proposition is strong if you’re a Marvel purist or played these before on original hardware. You aren’t just getting one version of a game, you’re often getting the Arcade, SNES, and MegaDrive versions side by side. Seeing the graphical differences between the 16-bit ports and 8-bit is a fun “spot the difference” game for enthusiasts.
Basketball Classics is an absolute blasts to play and offers a surprisingly enjoyable experience and alternative to the recycled NBA 2K series that’s also polluted with microtransactions. Basketball Classics encourages replay by allowing players to actually unlock additional content. Whether it be solo or for some local multiplayer fun, Basketball Classics is an addictive gaming experience and can be enjoyed by casual and hardcore gamers alike. Highly recommended.
I love it when a game surprises me. Originality is hard to come by, and GRIDbeat has some impressive and original ideas. Although it is very tough, and some levels can feel a little rinse-and-repeat, it is a fantastic indie game. Additionally, the ability to play it on the Steam Deck with no issues or compromise was a massive bonus. Accordingly, I recommend grabbing a copy from Steam!
Yakuza Kiwami 3 on Xbox Series X is a brilliant remake that preserves the tone and atmosphere of the franchise, whilst modernising the experience. If you’re a die-hard Yakuza fan like myself, then you’ll love this one. Having this as a double release with two different angles shows just how talented and strong Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are. Kiwami 3 will offer you a huge feast of content with an engaging storyline, plenty of action, turf wars, and more. Dark Ties is a shorter campaign, which will take around 15-20 hours to finish, which is a welcome addition when Kiwami 3 takes around 60-70 hours.
Backrooms Level X is another perfect example of great indie horror game and shows how indie developers are killing it. The tense atmosphere, unnerving ambiance, unique level design; whether it be a maze or a simple straight forward area makes this one of the most tense and best “horror” game I’ve played in the last year or so. It proves that less is more. If you’re looking for a creepy, tense experience, Backrooms Level X is a must play.
Unfortunately, Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake is an unnecessary remake that wasted Team Ninja’s skillset as a developer; they should’ve been hard at work on Ninja Gaiden 4 instead. The fact that it looks and feels like a late PS3/Xbox 360 game is telling. Janky movement, clunky/jerky combat. Can’t help but feel that a simple improved port of the original would’ve been better. It’s not a bad game, it just feels generic. Unless you’re a diehard of the series, you can skip this.Ho pefully they focus on creating new entries without restraints of past stories instead of ruining the legacy of the original trilogy.
GreedFall: The Dying World is a passionate and ambitious RPG that doesn’t always hit every mark, but delivers an experience that’s rich, engaging, and full of character. It may not have the polish of bigger titles, and it occasionally struggles under the weight of its own ambition, but there’s something undeniably compelling about what it offers. For fans of classic RPGs and choice-driven storytelling, this is a journey well worth taking. A passionate and ambitious RPG that may not be perfect, but delivers a rich and rewarding experience for those willing to embrace its world.
Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor is a charming, nostalgic, and surprisingly engaging experience that captures the magic of the series beautifully. It may not offer the deepest gameplay systems, and repetition can creep in over time, but the warmth of the world and the connection it creates more than make up for it. This is more than just a game for kids. It’s a journey back to something familiar — something comforting — and something genuinely magical. A magical and nostalgic journey that proves Thomas & Friends isn’t just for kids — it’s an experience that resonates across generations.
Originally released for the PC-Engine in 1990, and based on a manga of the same namesake, City Hunter tells the story of Ryo Saeba, a man known as a City Hunter. He’s basically a cleaner that tackles a myriad of jobs ensuring the protection of women from assassinations. His partner, Kaori, also helps him in his mission to clean the city of bad guys. City Hunter is a 2D action game where players run around buildings, opening doors for mission-critical NPCs and items all the while shooting various thugs barring down your path. Some doors won’t open, some doors will lead to empty rooms. It’s also trial and error. All doors are the same so you never know which one opens. This release includes the original default difficulty setting but also a brand new, more forgiving, Enhanced mode. Also as it is common with rereleases of classics from the 1990s, City Hunter features a rewind feature to correct some mistakes or come back from the dead. If you come across a scandily lady behind a door, despite her clear anger, you’ll get your health replenished
Rage Swarm is clearly a port from mobile devices to consoles. It’s a competent port which works well on Xbox; there are still grindy elements that are prominent from the transition. That said, if you’re someone who loves auto-shooter games that are pretty casual and not too serious, then you may find fun here. There is a good amount of content and potential replayability for the very low cost of £4.19. If you fancy it for that bargain price, you can pick up a copy on Xbox HERE!
A game for hunters of nostalgia. Rose-tinted spectacles can be a blessing and a curse. Yet, Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered would need more than a positive outlook to overcome every problem. I think it is fun, but I adore the original. Therefore, it was always an easy sell. Yet, if you are expecting a modern aesthetic, smooth controls, and challenging combat, this will not be for you. However, if you love retro gaming, you should grab a copy from the Xbox store!
Once the gameplay loop of Marathon clicks with you, it is a fantastically polished experience with exceptional gunplay. Sure, there is a big learning curve, and a lot doesn’t make sense at first. What I enjoyed about the fact that your hand isn’t held here whatsoever is that you’re left to learn it all alone or with friends. Whilst the gameplay does have some Destiny similarities, it isn’t a direct clone and stands on its own feet. Aesthetically, it’ll please most, while others dislike how it’s presented. Diving into runs, ticking off challenges, unlocking rewards, and gathering currency for unwanted loot is an addictive, rinse-and-repeat loop. It won’t be for everyone, but it’s a promising start to a solid shooter with well-grounded foundations. Playing with your mates is obviously the way to go here. But you can go lone soldier as a rook, or see out runs with randoms. The atmosphere of constant tension, chaotic gunfights and exploring the small but detailed worlds on offer is an enjoyable feat. My only concern is how long the fun lasts before it becomes stale, but after 30 hours, I’m still plugging away and enjoying it. Fingers crossed, Bungie will support this one for the long haul, but this will only be with Sony’s blessing.
Resident Evil Requiem doesn’t reinvent the franchise. It doesn’t need to. Instead, it refines, consolidates, and elevates the modern Resident Evil formula into something cohesive, confident, and deeply satisfying. Leon’s campaign is a masterclass in action‑horror design, while Grace’s story brings emotional depth and atmospheric tension that lingers long after the credits roll. This is a game made by a studio that knows its craft — and trusts it. A superb, assured entry that stands proudly alongside the series’ best.
The atmosphere this game creates is up there with the best, the pixel art in is gorgeous in a very specific, haunting way. Having a lack of dialogue but most of the talking is about what on screen gives this story a visual novel feel with most of the story being told by action and accomplishment. Even though there is not much interaction you get the sense of Maya and who she is as a person meeting family members along the way that are distorted versions of themselves that captures this eerie unfolding story. Going through this castle you get a feel of all these emotions through Maya such as childhood isolation and the lack of companionship. You’ll likely finish the game with more questions than you started with, but the feeling it leaves you with is undeniable. This is one game you need to take time with and be patient, it is frustrating in parts but leaves an imprint and is up there as an indie gem for me this year.
Roadside Research is a game with a unique identity and a compelling atmosphere, but it’s held back by unpolished controls, missing features, and a lack of mechanical depth. As a Game Preview title, it has room to grow, and the potential is absolutely there. But right now, it’s difficult to recommend unless you’re extremely patient or deeply curious about its concept. For players willing to tolerate rough edges and provide feedback, it may be worth exploring. For everyone else, it’s a game to keep an eye on rather than dive into immediately.
Mirage 7 is an interesting twist on the indie market. It offers something a little unusual that takes a step back in time. I’m not sure it will appeal to a massive audience, but lovers of nostalgia will fall for its charms. Furthermore, the use of a lizard companion to aid you on your quest was interesting. Accordingly, I think it is niche, but good, and I recommend getting a copy from the Xbox store!
WWE 2K26 is a fantastic wrestling game that captures the excitement, drama, and spectacle of WWE in a way few games manage. The expanded roster, engaging match types, and polished gameplay combine to create an experience that feels lively and incredibly entertaining. From intense rivalries to chaotic hardcore matches, every bout feels like a highlight reel waiting to happen. But above all else, WWE 2K26 succeeds because it’s simply so much fun to play. It captures the joy of professional wrestling — the unpredictability, the drama, and the unforgettable moments that keep fans coming back for more. If you’re a wrestling fan on Xbox, stepping into the ring with WWE 2K26 is an experience you won’t want to miss. WWE 2K26 delivers one of the most entertaining wrestling experiences in years — a vibrant, action-packed celebration of the WWE universe that’s simply too much fun to put down.
High On Life 2 takes all the exceptional qualities from the first game and expands on them. I adored my time with the 2o hours, or so I had with this sequel, and it’s such a unique and clever game. There aren’t many games out there that have you constantly chuckling and beaming from ear to ear consistently throughout. Squanch Games has a very talented team behind them, and what they have created again is a hilarious romp in another bizarre yet intriguing setting full of comedic moments, satisfying gameplay and just a bloody great time. If you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, I urge you to give it your time; it’s simply brilliant. New to the game? Not an issue, since it’s accessible even if you missed the original adventure. The story and mechanics will introduce themselves so you’re not left confused in any way. If you have the time, though, I would recommend giving High On Life a go; it isn’t a necessity, however. Fancy buying a copy of High On Life 2 instead of playing with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate? Then you can purchase a copy of the game for Xbox Series X|S right HERE!
Docked turns the complex world of port logistics into a thoughtful and engaging simulation experience. Operating massive machinery, managing cargo shipments, and slowly rebuilding Port Wake creates a steady and satisfying progression loop. While repetition and slower pacing may limit its appeal for some players, the core gameplay remains rewarding for fans of simulation titles. Docked may not be the most glamorous game on the docks, but it proves that even the everyday work of moving cargo can make for an enjoyable and immersive experience. Docked offers a surprisingly engaging simulation of port logistics. It’s a slower, more methodical experience, but players who enjoy managing machinery and logistics will find plenty to enjoy on the docks.
