Matheus Jenevain's Reviews

A writer of unspecified age and exceptional skill (according to himself, believe it or not). Enjoys Metroidvanias, RPGs and fighting games. Prays every night, intensely, to receive a remake of God Hand. Has never been answered.

I was positively surprised by Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, especially when I noticed how they managed to maintain the ideas of the original, and its treasures, without failing to add improvements to make the experience simpler and more enjoyable for everyone.

The DLC delivers a considerable amount of content, with a high value considering the price of the base game and the game itself, with several characters to unlock, equipment to test, power combinations, a huge stage, and so on. In addition, the developers' affection for the Belmont clan is clear, and this contributes greatly to the quality of the package as a whole.

I would still recommend Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered to all audiences. Those who have already played it, like me, will have the opportunity to relive a classic. And those who are unfamiliar will finally be able to experience the antics of Garcia and Johnson.

8.5 / 10.0 - Yakuza Kiwami
Oct 24, 2024

Yakuza Kiwami continues to be a great game. I had as much fun as I did the first time I played it, and I really think it's a good choice for both those who have never played it and those who want a good distraction to pass the time.

I really enjoyed my time with Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven. The game is both entertaining and engaging in equal measure, and will easily please fans of the genre. In fact, it's another good representative of the turn-based JRPG genre in a year of heavyweight releases.

Forgive Me Father 2 continues to be a quality FPS, built very successfully on solid foundations and that can easily please anyone who enjoys the genre, both for its gameplay and its disturbing premise.

AWAKEN – Astral Blade was a mixed experience for me. Although I had a lot of fun with its combat and got involved in the narrative, I felt that the title missed out on a lot of good opportunities and, as a result, ended up not realizing its full potential.

8-Bit Adventures 2 is a blast. The game is fun and charming, easily doing the hard work of winning over and keeping the player hooked. All this, I must say, while paying a beautiful homage to titles from past eras. If you're looking for a cool RPG to pass the time, go for it. You won't regret it.

I found Drova – Forsaken Kin to be a super fun game, and I was glad I put my time and effort into it. Leaving aside the good memories of Gothic and company, the title served to satisfy my desire for a game in which I could get lost, and I believe it will be very good for those who find themselves in the same vibe as me. Therefore, I recommend it.

I found Metaphor: ReFantazio to be a sensational game, easily making it onto my list of the best of the year so far.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI CHRONICLES is an experience that will probably please, to a certain extent, only people who already know and have some investment in the franchise. The little explored mechanics, in addition to the repetition and the dragged-out plot, do not help to either hold the attention of those who do not know anything or to be a gateway for the curious.

I believe that Remnant II: The Dark Horizon is the best DLC for the title so far, and the one that delivers the most value to the player, even without counting the free addition of the boss mode.

World of Warcraft: The War Within is one of the best WoW expansions to date, in my humble opinion, and really manages to evolve the formula to keep up with the times and, who knows, guarantee another twenty years of success for the franchise.

7.5 / 10.0 - REYNATIS
Sep 20, 2024

I found REYNATIS to be a very interesting game, both for some of the mechanics it proposes and for its setting and plot. However, the structural problems I mentioned end up preventing the game from reaching as high as it could.

6.5 / 10.0 - Mists of Noyah
Sep 14, 2024

The feeling that Mists of Noyah left me with is that everything could have been more. The foundation is solid and it's there, but the title can't quite cope with the bunch of mechanics and influences it embraces.

All in all, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is still a blast. The title continues to be one of SUDA51's most entertaining works, closing the magical trifecta (in my opinion) with No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned.

9 / 10.0 - Yars Rising
Sep 10, 2024

Yars Rising is a great game. In fact, it was one of my most pleasant surprises of the year, as I really wasn't expecting anything like this.

7.8 / 10.0 - Elsie
Sep 10, 2024

I believe Elsie is a good choice, especially if you're someone who's curious to see how the genre works or, perhaps, what a Mega Man take would be like within that format.

The game offers a good challenge, the translation is still slick and the new tracks, remixed or not, are very good. On the negative side, I only found the beginning a bit punishing and, again, I feel that this expansion could have been included with the base game, just like in the Persona 3 FES era.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a game made for fans of the franchise and the genre, but it can also be perfect for those curious and new to the world created by Games Workshop.
