Marco Cocomello's Reviews
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the most ambitious Pokemon game to date and while it may be flawed, it offers a fun and exciting adventure that sets the bar for the future of the series.
Rainbow Six Extraction makes for a great co-op shooter. It can only get better from here as Ubisoft releases timed events and cosmetics to kit your Operators out with. The various difficulties will help carry this game for quite some time now as they all offer an unforgiving yet enjoyable experience. It does start to feel samey after a while but the squad gameplay helps keep things exciting.
Forza Horizon 5 is a familiar playground. If you have played any of the past games you’ll feel right at home here. The general gameplay doesn’t do much to set itself apart from other Horizon games but I don’t think it needs to. The recipe works and right now, there’s really no other game out there that can compete with this. It is the best racer on the market and with no one coming for that crown, Playground Games don’t need to do anything to change that.
Mario Golf Super Rush is fun and even better with friends. It makes use of the Switch to provide motion controls that feel great. If I had to complain I would just say that the game is a bit shallow on content. With a handful of courses and 16 characters, I just wished there was more. The courses can get tiresome after a while and some characters don’t offer the same excitement as others. However, if you’re looking for a fun golf game to play solo or with friends, this is it.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart doesn't try and reinvent the wheel but that does not make it a bad game. While somewhat short, it is one of the most visually captivating, action-packed games around and a no-brainer for PS5 owners.
Resident Evil Village is a phenomenal game. It manages to reinvent itself in some new creative ways while still delivering one of the most explosive and surprising experiences in the series.
Returnal went from a tough horror game to a brilliant arcade roguelike bullet-hell shooter. Very few games can evolve this way. Returnal is roguelike at its finest and one of the best reasons to own a PS5.
The Medium is a good game that lasts just around 10 hours. After completing it I so wanted it to be more than it is. Its story and uncomfortable themes its touches on does a great job carrying the repetitive gameplay to the end. I so wanted it to be more. I wanted more challenging puzzles and gameplay elements to expand the “dual reality” mechanics. However, it never happened. I hope The Bloober Team use this as a start to something new. The game’s general premise is an interesting one and can really be expanded on. Unfortunately, it gives me Order 1886 vibes – Just playing it too safe.
I hope everyone gets a chance to play Immortals: Fenyx Rising because there is a lot of fun to be had here. I found its world more interesting than Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla to the point where I actually wanted to go places and solve every single puzzle. Its combat is addictive and its character build system means you can approach it from so many ways. All this combines to deliver a fantastic adventure worth your time. Don’t let this game pass you by.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla may be an even further step away from the traditional Assassin's Creed recipe but it is still a great game. Besides the addictive combat and fantastic skill tree, I loved how it fixed the pacing issues from Odyssey. I had a purpose this time around and knew where I was going and what I was doing. The Viking setting is refreshing too and delivers some decent tales to experience while exploring a breathtaking world.
Apart from the horrendous ending, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is great fun. The couch co-op movie night mode returns and gives players a reason to play the game with friends and the game's setting is chilling in all the right ways. I cannot wait to see where the studio goes with next year's House of Ashes.
DiRT 5 is fun. While it lacks the depth of past games, I thoroughly enjoyed the arcade approach. One can just jump in, play a race and go back to watching Netflix or something. It is not overly complicated by any means. Just a fun content-packed racing game for the masses.
Watch Dogs Legion is not a bad game I just believe it was too ambitious for its time. The recruiting system could have been something great but instead its shallow and delivered cliche characters with no real purpose. Unfortunately, this does not help the gameplay and story much. There’s a lot of fun to be had here but if you start expecting more from it, you are going to be let down.
The game is an extraordinary combination of great storytelling and combat set in a remarkable world.
Marvel's Iron Man VR is a perfect example of why VR exists and the possibilities of it. It is must-play for anyone who owns the device and an unforgettable and unique game.
Naughty Dog’s questionable marketing for The Last of Us Part II makes you believe one thing is happening in the game. However, it is not the case. There’s a lot more to love here than meets the eye. While the game’s plot has some major holes in it and never actually gets anywhere, the gameplay has seen a major improvement. It is also one of the most visually captivating games on the market and at times I could not believe it was running on the hardware. The Last Of Us Part II is a game you would want to play and you should. Even if it is once. It will play with your emotions and deliver some intense inner conflict. The series is known for. It is just a pity the plot was trying so hard to be outstanding it often feels rushed and forgettable.
Moving Out is a fantastic co-op game. Sure it may feel tedious at times but the great level design and opportunity to unlock awesome mini-games made it worthwhile. I could not help but feel I would have enjoyed it more if the game was a bit more forgiving at times. Regardless, you are going to have a crazy time here and hate your friends and family afterwards.
Gears Tactics is one of the best tactical games on the market. It delivers a challenging and unique approach to the series. As for replayability, it offers hours of intense gameplay, fantastic boss fights and a large emphasis on an end-game modifier experience. You don't want to miss this.
Final Fantasy VII Remake could have gone south very quickly but instead, Square Enix has crafted an authentic experience that brings the world of Midgar and its cast to life in new ways. The story has never been told in a better format, the combat is fun and addictive and the promise of more to come makes this first chapter so much more worthwhile. If this is the start of things, I can’t wait to see where it goes from there.
Resident Evil 3 Remake manages to deliver a somewhat authentic remake of the classic game. While it lacks some iconic areas and enemies, it does keep you at the edge of your seat as you face some rather deadly threats. Once the game is over, you can purchase some items from the shop to enhance your next playthroughs like medals that grant health regen and over-powered weapons like a laser gun.. Will I go back and do another? I doubt it.
