Khurram Imtiaz's Reviews

I am an avid gamer that has an interest in RPGs. I prefer games that push the narrative in storytelling, something that was perfected by The Last of Us. I have been writing for over 3 years now for different outlets. I love to talk about video games and you will find my reviews going into detail about every aspect of the video game.

Black Clover: Quartet Knight features a disappointing main story campaign that is also incredibly short. The focus on multiplayer just doesn't work properly due to its terrible execution and long matchmaking times. It is a game that is purely for fans of the anime and not for others.

This feels more like a tech demo that was expanded into a miniature game. The gameplay gets incredibly repetitive, so it hard to enjoy it. The only worthwhile thing to say for it is the visuals look great.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has ultimately achieved the potential of a modern Tomb Raider experience after the series lost its identity with the reboot.

The lack of a functional story mode and some technical issues with the frame rate bring down an otherwise serviceable fighting game. This is not providing a substitute to King of Fighters, but it is an average fighter for those who are seeking something casual with plenty of fan service moments.

An ambitious attempt to create a multiplayer focused ninja game in the Naruto universe. The foundation created here is solid but the content offered is just not good enough to attract the fans who have played the classic Naruto games with their story-focused campaign.

A charming game with gorgeous visuals that suffers from technical hurdles and pacing issues. Keeping a pet dragon companion is the saving grace for Little Dragons Café,

Dragon Quest series hit its peak with Dragon Quest XI offering one of the most engaging stories in a JRPG full of unforgettable characters and a turn-based combat system that can tailor to your experience. This is a classic JRPG that is worthy of being considered one of the best games released this generation.

9 / 10.0 - Yakuza Kiwami 2
Aug 23, 2018

Yakuza Kiwami 2 thrives on the back of a great villain and it is arguably the best story chapter in Kazuma Kiryu's saga. It is also the most comprehensive Yakuza game so far with plenty of mini-games and side activities to keep you engaged for a long time.

7 / 10.0 - Death's Gambit
Aug 20, 2018

The visuals are pretty and the exploration is great, but the combat is unfortunately rather tepid, and hit detection can be disappointing with a slight delay to the attacks. Death's Gambit can also suffer from awkward difficulty spikes and there is a distinct lack of memorable boss fights, but it is overall an enjoyable product that is recommended for fans looking for a Souls-like experience.

6 / 10.0 - We Happy Few
Aug 17, 2018

Despite carrying an interesting premise, especially for its story, We Happy Few falters due to the lack of overall polish. It suffers from terrible performance and clunky combat controls while the focus on putting as many survival mechanics in a single-player story ends up making it look like a product that lost its identity.

8 / 10.0 - Flipping Death
Aug 8, 2018

Flipping Death is a worthy successor to Stick it to the Man and takes many of the elements from its predecessor to make for an even better experience. The premise of controlling Death and finding out the fate of certain humans is an interesting one and the art style gives the game its own unique personality, but it can also be divisive for others.

8 / 10.0 - Overcooked 2
Aug 7, 2018

The biggest addition to this sequel is the online multiplayer, otherwise, it is a pretty linear iteration with new levels and no major gameplay or visual changes over its predecessor. Still, this doesn't stop it from becoming an incredibly fun co-op game with a solid amount of content and replay value.

7 / 10.0 - Go Vacation
Aug 3, 2018

Go Vacation is a good reminder of how quantity doesn't always mean quality. There are a lot of mini-games available to play here, but not all of them offer a memorable experience. Motion controls implementation is also disappointing but the multiplayer is still fun if you can play it with friends.

This game isn’t going to offer you a great combat system but there is an impressive cast of playable characters. The writing is solid and the art style is captivating, however, the quest-based mission design is a major flaw that hinders the potential of the story.

As a mobile game, the gameplay design here just doesn't work as well for consoles. There is a lot to grind just to progress and unlock more levels or the different variety of sharks which is ultimately its biggest weakness.

As a Pikmin clone, this is a sub-par experience at best with frustrating and poorly implemented controls for ordering your Impa followers. It can still be a fun game if you can overcome the constant struggles with the controls, otherwise, it is largely a forgettable experience

7 / 10.0 - The Crew 2
Jul 10, 2018

It is slightly disappointing to see how Ubisoft decided to just focus on making a bigger open world game while forgetting the essentials of what makes them so great. The Crew 2 has a lot of potential in the future with free updates and content that might be added to it, but in its current launch state, it is, unfortunately, a shallow experience that doesn't have much to offer for those who are looking for a competent racing game.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is an incredibly fun and varied fighting game with some great combat mechanics. It is the lack of content and a poor character roster for a fighting game crossover that makes it an overall disappointing product.

Super Bomberman R is a fun multiplayer game that offers a traditional story mode that is incredibly short in length. As a result, it is hard to recommend it for a purely single-player experience. Despite offering online multiplayer, it is still a wonky implementation which makes it best suited for local multiplayer.

This is still a challenging tower defense game that has managed the transition to 3D rather well, but the developers have decided to stick with the original formula and the lack of gameplay innovations makes it a less exciting sequel.
