Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 is a very niche focused game that will appeal to a very specific crowd of people, unfortunately I'm not one of them. This certainly doesn't mean the game is bad, on the contrary the battle system and art is very enjoyable. If you can get over the mediocre narrative and annoying characters, then Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 might be worth a try.

7.5 / 10.0 - Freedom Planet
Sep 5, 2018

This is an indie game that understands well how to properly take inspiration from the classic Sonic games, and as a result, it manages to stand out among the many clones. The impact of Freedom Planet is far less now, but it has the potential to carve out its own identity in the future.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithless does a lot of things right but at the same time makes some amateurish mistakes that greatly take a way from the experience. The game had massive potential but some glaring design choices will leave fans disappointed.

8 / 10 - Ys Origin
Feb 24, 2017

Ys Origin gives us a chance to experience the prologue of the series. As a re-release, it doesn't really offer new content and unfortunately isn't a flawless conversion either.

Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition is a soulless remaster but despite its lack of new content, the core of the game is still solid and despite the dated visuals, the gameplay still holds up well making for one of the most entertaining first person shooter.

Toukiden 2 is an open world sequel to the original Toukiden. The game iterates on the monster hunting formula established by its predecessor while offering the players countless hours of fun.

This is the second collection of Mega Man games so it doesn't really manage to look as appealing as the first time, but the games that are included in this Legacy Collection are still extremely fun on their own.

8 / 10 - FIFA 18

FIFA 18 offers a great story mode this year with the return of Alex Hunter, but when it comes to improvements to the general gameplay, there is not much to gain here.

8 / 10 - Gundam Versus
Oct 7, 2017

Gundam Versus offers a fun combat system and an abundance of mobile suits to fight with in the game. While the Arcade like experience might give it some longevity, it also makes it harder to recommend it for those who aren't really a fan of the series.

Retaining the charm of a classic horror game with focus on survival and exploration, White Day attempts to bring Asian horror elements into the mix and presents an interesting story premise that urges you to uncover its mysteries. However, some of the dated gameplay mechanics appear as a blemish on an otherwise great game.

Warriors All-Stars is one of the better efforts from Koei Tecmo with a whole lot of content to play in the game. However the quality of this content is debatable but if you are a fan of the various Koei Tecmo franchise, you might find the appeal in it.

A Walk in the Park is an enjoyable expansion that is especially aimed at those fans who have already completed the base game. It doesn't really alter the experience or add something new to the core gameplay mechanics, but as an expansion, it offers some great gameplay moments in a completely new location.

7.5 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Aug 29, 2018

This is a breath of fresh air in the current online-focused battle royale infested games market. Strange Brigade tries to mix third-person shooting with a dose of puzzle solving and it does that with an emphasis on co-op. The design of the game is rather bland when played alone but as a co-op game, it has a strong foundation that is both chaotic and tons of fun.

What I liked about Shinning Resonance Refrain was that it has a solid cast of characters that are well-written and the combat is dynamic enough that you will keep experimenting with it. It is not a flawless experience but for fans of the genre, it is one of the better games to release this generation.

7.5 / 10.0 - Fate/Extella Link
Mar 25, 2019

Despite carrying some nice improvements over its predecessor in the gameplay department, Fate/Extella Link offers a disappointing story. Overall though, the combat is fast, easy, and fun to grasp and leads to an enjoyable hack-and-slash game with some charming anime aesthetics.

3.7 / 5.0 - Natural Doctrine

Hardcore fans of the Strategy RPG genre may find Natural Doctrine to be very enjoyable given that they invest time into it. The game is very lengthy so make sure to set aside some time before plunging into the game's world.

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is a fun deviation from the series’ turn based formula. The game is a really polished experience ranging from the UI, cutscenes, Art and soundtrack. Action Unleashed is one of the better games in the series and should be in your to-buy list if you’re a fan of the series.

3.5 / 5.0 - Fairy Fencer F
Feb 15, 2015

Fairy Fencer F is a mixed bag of a game, the combat is excellent but the story and setting failed to grab my attention. Overtime the battle system also started getting on my nerves due to the lengthy dungeons. The setting is different from the Neptunia series, so if you definitely want to play one of Compile Heart's game and Neptunia is not swinging your boat, then go ahead give Fairy Fencer F a try.
