Mercenaries Saga Chronicles consists of three games of the tactical RPG series brought together for the Nintendo Switch. If the gameplay is polished enough to allow for a fun experience and the variety of options for the characters is very much welcome, the game could also go much further when it comes to introducing new elements, of which there are very few, and to make its plot more interesting and compelling to the players.

Owlboy brings an absolutely amazing visual environment to the Nintendo Switch, along with an exquisite soundtrack and an involving plot. The game exudes the passion and commitment that its creators put into it and any Nintendo Switch owner will find in Owlboy a wonderful addition to their catalog, which keeps getting richer and more varied thanks to gems like this.

Castle of Heart is a good example on why one shouldn't judge a book by its cover: while its visuals look rather appealing, the game's experience quickly becomes an ordeal once the gameplay begins. Due to poor level design, controls that feel very clunky (though in line with the game's premise) and a difficulty level that is frustrating but not challenging, Castle of Heart missed a good opportunity to be an enjoyable experience.

InnerSpace features overall interesting aesthetics and the variety of the vehicles presented is certainly something to keep in mind. Where it doesn't stand out, though, is on its lack of guidance, which can cause some frustrating moments for the players and more variety when it comes to the puzzles would be very much appreciated. As it is, InnerSpace leaves the feeling that its execution is below expected.

Yooka-Laylee is a tribute to 3D platforming games, especially to those that involve collecting a lot of things. It succeeds at that job, as it will certainly invade some players with overwhelming feelings of nostalgia. It doesn't quite do the job of creating a platformer that would be up to the highest standards of today, as it's demonstrated by some frustrating sections, camera issues and a combat system that is far from being exciting but overall, Yooka-Laylee is a pleasure to explore and it's full of delightful details.

Floor Kids has what a good rhythm game should have: a good gameplay mechanic, with fluid action and a soundtrack that fits perfectly with the game. Pity that its visual environment and art style are completely out of touch with the rest of the game and look very much sub par in what is, otherwise, an enjoyable experience.

Dragon Quest Builders is an interesting object, one that does not fully venture into its main series' territory but which puts the players in its world and which can keep their attention for some long, fun and involving moments, not to mention that it keeps the mind well entertained until the next chapter in the Dragon Quest series arrives.

RXN -Raijin - is a bullet hell shooter, with most of the traits that can be found in these games, for good and for bad. It does feature some good controls and the gameplay is quite decent but its combat segments are too short. Adding to that a progress system that doesn't give any incentive to make different choices and a plot that is immediately forgettable and the result is a game that could have gone further but as it is, won't stand out among its peers.

ACORN Tactics may start with the promise of becoming something enjoyable within the strategy genre in the Nintendo Switch catalog but unfortunately it doesn't live up to what it could be. Too slow during combat, very shallow in its mechanics and lacking feedback in crucial points, ACORN Tactics falls short of players' expectations and fails to deliver what is today taken for granted by most.

One More Dungeon is an interesting roguelike game that features some rather original mechanics. It doesn't go so far on all its components, as its interface makes it difficult to navigate and its sound design and effects need an overhaul but One More Dungeon still has some elements that allow for fun moments.

The game's puzzles give the player enough freedom to approach them in their own way, granting an enormous degree of freedom that makes this a game which requires an outside the box approach, one which makes this a unique and recommended experience to all.

Plantera Deluxe offers very few reasons to appeal to most players. If its interface and screen resolution have been improved following its conversion to the Nintendo Switch, the game remains extremely simple - too simple for its own good. There is very little in terms of challenge and incentive and Plantera's experience quickly descends into a state of repetitive monotony.

Thanks to its atmosphere, the game manages to create a certain palpable fear in the player, which is fundamental for a work of this kind. The game would benefit from exploring some of its mechanics at a deeper level but as it is, Perception can bring an interesting, even if rather short, experience to the players.

Splasher is a fun and well designed game that makes use of its compelling and interesting mechanics to create an experience that will keep the players around the Nintendo Switch for a good amount of time. Thanks to its level design and to a correct distribution of challenges, Splasher manages to be a promising game that does not fail and which leaves the players asking for more.

JYDGE is a rather simple game that offers a great character control and wide-ranging customization options. It doesn't go much further than this, as the game also turns out to be quite short and falls victim to a lack of variety after clearing some of the maps. Overall, JYDGE feels like many of its goals have not been fully completed.

Doom for the Nintendo Switch delivers the goods. Featuring the enveloping and addictive mechanics that made the original such a landmark title, this newest version of one of the most significant games in history features a fantastic campaign mode, a magnificent soundtrack and a consistently solid performance on Nintendo's hybrid console.

Neon Chrome's roguelike qualities combined with shoot'em up gameplay mechanics contribute to make this an interesting game that makes the players change their tactics with every level and which presents an immense amount of weapons and upgrades. However, it also feels like it doesn't quite fulfill its potential, as its plot remains stale throughout the game and the audiovisual component doesn't show anything worthy of praise.

Despite being rather short, it's a memorable game and one which will make the players feel responsible for their choices, as the answers given during the dialogues will have direct consequences on the overall development of the game's plot.

Butcher does not revolutionize the side-scrolling genre for the 21st century. What it features in fun gameplay and good looking visuals it loses in terms of the repetitiveness of its levels and a lack of variety of the elements used. That being said, Butcher is still fun enough to give it a go and fans of side-scrollers are likely to enjoy some time around this game.
