ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is an excellent game, a fantastic metroidvania, and a great work of design and art. Inspirations and similarities, with their own personality, combats, a lot of exploration, pitfalls and possibilities. A title that cannot be missed unless the reader has a minimum taste for 2D games of this genre, here represented by a very complete, rich title with a commendable artistic invoice.

More firewood for the cauldron of the metroidvanias! Sun Wukong VS Robot will not go down in the annals of history. In fact, he did not do it five years ago on PC, but the damned is fun, very dynamic and with good forms. Its brevity is coupled with a lack of ambition or means that could leave it in a much better place, but at least we are left with a very cheap game, perfect to disconnect and have a nice time, and split machines with the legendary staff of the most legendary Sun Wukong.

Where the Heart Leads is another narrative game representative, here capturing a 'slice of life', the story of a worldly person, with its decisions and consequences. A beautiful visual part, but limited means that take a direct toll on the narrative and execution, this being the great handicap of the game. But still, another interesting representative in this style of 'playing stories', with considerable variability and changes, being more active and branched than other games of this style, although these narrative limitations take their toll when it comes to exploiting these possibilities and replayability .

90 / 100 - Cyber Shadow
Jul 22, 2021

Cyber Shadow is a prodigious and meticulous work of artisan, classic way and with few names like yesteryear. A superb action-platformer arcade with a pampered and measured visual, sound and playable design. Cyber Shadow is pure fun, and a game that has to be known and played by more people than those of us wallowing in nostalgia and the past.

Unbound: Worlds Apart is something we think we know. Even the beautiful and well crafted artwork is something more and more common in the indie world. That's why the use of portals with properties that vary depending on the time and the area is something very grateful and differentiating, making an experience that would already be quite worthwhile, is directly one of the games of the moment. Five years of effort and illusions behind, which have given an excellent result. Whether you are a machine with platform games, or a one-armed like me, you will find a great game made with care.

80 / 100 - Glyph
Aug 9, 2021

Glyph is a proposal as challenging as it is ingenious. A game that puts you to the test, that makes you measure how much patience and endurance you have. Handling our techno-beetle-pellet is an experience that must be tried at least. More than eighty phases where we must not only reach the end, but also learn them to get all its treasures, either to keep moving forward, or because of that personal pride that only good puzzle games achieve.

Let's not just say that this is another game-a-story. OPUS: Echo of Starsong goes beyond that, offering adventure, exploration, crafting, resource management... But without becoming a pure adventure, because the most important thing is to continue with the story and not get off the hook. So joining a well-told story, with an adventure where we care about various aspects of our ship and crew, we get more involved and have that healthy feeling of 'playing the story' that is quite appreciated when done well. And here it has been done well.

85 / 100 - Myst
Sep 2, 2021

Myst is much more than just another return to the past for nostalgics. That's why it is wrapped in an excellent visual bill, with Raytracing as a flag. The wickerwork of almost thirty years ago is superbly transferred to the present. Myst is a graphic adventure with a logical design, thoughtful and studied, as we advance in its cryptic plot. The visual bill that we expect from a current game is embraced with the great design of a game that created a school and that is maintained, precisely because it continues to work.

Original is a long time, and fun too, although Dino Galaxy Tennis has to get the most out of playing with or against people. A happy curiosity that is worth to spend pleasant moments with its extravagant and direct arcade proposal, although we will have to make ourselves move on a rounded playing field. But if you are going to launch kites on planets using dinosaurs or other impossible creatures, you have to adapt, and it is worth it.

80 / 100 - A Juggler's Tale
Sep 29, 2021

Many stories have given us the world of video games, and 'A Juggler's Tale' joins that repertoire. That the mechanics are simple and known makes it easier for anyone to get into it, while we live a story full of adventures and emotions, with a powerful voice dominating the story and our actions. A story with a well measured duration and progression, with little dark dots that will not make you get out of it at all, fortunately.

80 / 100 - Aeon Drive
Sep 30, 2021

Aeon Drive is a heart game like I haven't been in a while. With its semi-Run and Gun mechanics, truffled with platforms, stuffed all into a frenetic speedrun with a hundred levels, in addition to the online options clearly focused on competitiveness and exceeding times and scores, we have a perfect title for those with fingers firm, steel pulse and vibranium nerves. A title to test yourself or against the world, with cooperative options so that the adrenaline jumps like Catalan cava.

Four games of proven quality. Three Castlevania metroidvania and the vilifying -unfairly- Super Nintendo's Dracula X. The games are worth a lot, but the way to collect them is less lavish. A fair compilation, with the problems of entering the resolutions of the successor of the Game Boy and Super Nintendo. But the quality of the four titles, the power to rewind, save at any time and other extras, together with an interesting price, makes this interesting compilation worthwhile.

85 / 100 - Bonfire Peaks
Oct 5, 2021

A puzzle game whose quality is matched by its challenge. But Bonfire Peaks also deserves not to remain a niche rarity for fans of these games, its way of introducing the player to its world, its simple and intuitive control, the learning curve and how satisfying it is, is something open to people. You will solve in a few steps that damn puzzle that made you retire the day before frustrated, I assure you.

"Old but not obsolete", as the Terminator used to tell us. And if it works for him, it works perfectly to sum up what Diablo II: Resurrected has to offer. The classic Diablo II but not the version with more than twenty years behind it, but the construct of years and patches to expand and improve it, with a simply exquisite layer of varnish. A huge job in its time and years of evolution, although it does not reach the benefits and options that the genre that practically inaugurated this saga has been following, and other edges such as post-game or online themes. But there is residue, a lot of residue, and good. Diablo II continues to be played sickly well, on top of that well adapted to the pad and consoles, with an exquisite visual setting. LONG LIVE DEVIL!

A compilation with ten games that are well worth it. Some shine more than others, but there is nothing that we can consider filler. On the contrary, the Neo Geo Pocket struggled to break through and had excellent quality titles. Even the remake of Crush Roller, or Make Trax, is a tremendously fun game powered by cooperative play. Forty euros is a hefty price, and the PC conversion is sloppy and sloppy, but the quality is still there.

70 / 100 - The Alien Cube
Oct 14, 2021

The Alien Cube is a highly recommended horror narrative adventure for those who sympathize with and are consumers of this way of playing stories, enhanced by its excellent visual part, along with a very careful sound. The story is not long, it is not complicated in its progress, and the game system is simple and without great challenges, perfect to enjoy a four hours of a Lovecraftian horror story from another world.

In a curious combination of mechanics and even genres, the use of two very different characters creates a well resolved and interesting style of gameplay. Puzzles, platforming, stealth... wrapped by a setting and artwork that combines the fascinating with the tenebrous in a very well balanced adventure with personality.

70 / 100 - Apple Slash
Dec 22, 2021

Apple Slash is a very satisfying, straightforward, and well-oiled experience, marred by its short duration. Leave wanting more, and I hope there is. Because what we have here at the level of adventure and, above all, action, not only works but also leaves a clear feeling of being able to grow without problems that spoil the good taste that will leave anyone who deservedly approaches it.

Original idea, playable design even more original, but with a contained and little used execution. Freddy Spaghetti 2 is the new iteration of one of those crazy ideas that are so popular on the outskirts of video game development. And it deserves our eye on it, but both its lack of ambition to continue developing the enormous potential of the game, as well as a simpler level design, and an enormous shortness in duration, leave this game from interesting to curious. And it's not a small thing either, huh?

75 / 100 - Haiki
Jan 13, 2022

Desperate and comforting. Screams of rage, and blows to the chest of satisfaction. The formula is well known, but little traveled even in the independent scene for obvious reasons. Richard Hörnig succeeds in creating his own Super Meat Boy, his bouncing head, in increasingly horrific and exhilarating levels. Will you endure as many and as many phases, with more as many, and as many, and as many, and as many, and as many, and as many deaths? You should, if pure platforming and extreme precision don't hold you back. Haiki is an eclogue about recovering humanity and overthrowing evil, in the form of a platformer that is as simple as possible to understand and control, and as hard as the twelve (thirteen) labors of Herakles not to complete, but to master. Not all of us will be prepared for this, but those who go deep into the proposal will find a millimetric, careful and comforting design. But... it won't be easy to get to the bottom.
