8 / 10.0 - En Garde!
Aug 16, 2023

En Garde! It focuses the entire experience on the charismatic protagonist and the spectacle of the fights, which are truly reminiscent of the swashbuckling movies that were so popular in the last century. It therefore offers a lot, but at the same time offers only this: a hack and slash that in the end is little more than a beat'em up. Definitely a welcome surprise for those who love action-packed games with a light and fun story in the background, but those looking for depth in gameplay, exploration or character growth will find this game too simple. In any case, I am sure we will still hear the name of Adalia de Volador.

The fantasy setting of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew plays a decisive role in breathing new life into the Commandos-like genre, providing a series of new skills that will surprise newbies and fascinate veterans. The complete freedom of approach to the missions and the possibility to decide almost immediately with which character to face them makes this game unique, certainly the best of its kind and among the most interesting real-time strategy video games appeared lately. Charismatic protagonists and a superb level design complete the offer making it unmissable for those who want to be quick of mouse and quick of mind.

8.4 / 10.0 - Atlas Fallen
Aug 9, 2023

Finally, an open world in which moving from one part of the map to another is no longer problem. It is definitely one of the strengths of Atlas Fallen, along with the numerous builds we can continually experiment with by playing with glove upgrades, and the combat system against the huge monsters we encounter, unfortunately not as frequently as I hoped. The gameplay does not add anything new to the RPG genre, but action and variety of settings, combined with a fast paced progression, make it engaging and enjoyable from start to finish. To be played in one go.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart finds its fullest expression on the mid-end to high-end PC, delivering unmatched graphics quality that PS5 just couldn't achieve. It guarantees lot of fun thanks to fast-paced action, tons of enemies to eliminate in the most creative ways, intriguing story, intuitive and responsive controls, puzzles to solve, battles to the last hitpoint, planets to explore, mounts to ride, secrets to discover and weapons to upgrade. The Steam Deck version is a little miracle, properly handling such a hardware challenging game.

8.1 / 10.0 - Exoprimal
Jul 21, 2023

Exoprimal is a decidedly original PvEvP, with various game modes able to guarantee always different matches, although undoubtedly the most exciting are those in which there are direct clashes with the opposing team. The story is pleasant to follow, and it would not be a problem to discover it little by little, if this did not also affect the options available during multiplayer. In this way, the game does not immediately show all its potential, as if it were a free to play that must convince us to upgrade to unlock the complete product. The problem is that it is a Premium, and may not appeal to those who want everything on day one.

8.9 / 10.0 - Jagged Alliance 3
Jul 13, 2023

Jagged Alliance 3 represents the comeback in a big way of turn-based combat strategy games, and it is so compelling that it may revive a genre lately dedicated only to a few hardcore fans. The reckless choice of not showing the probability of hitting turns out to be successful, as it makes each firefight unpredictable, forcing us to risk it all on several occasions. The only flaw in this excellent production is the artificial intelligence of the enemies, who sometimes spare us with no reason or seem prone to suicide. Anyway, it still remains a must have.

9 / 10.0 - Voidigo
Jul 3, 2023

All in all, Voidigo is just another twin stick shooter with roguelite dynamics, but it ranks among the best of all time in its genre. What does this mean? That if you love this type of game, it's a must-have that will keep you hooked for a long time. If, on the other hand, you are used to a more lukewarm reception to roguelites, then this could be your chance to try a video game that represents excellence. Finally, if you are fed enough with this type of gameplay, try to have it as a dessert, and you won't regret it.

8.4 / 10.0 - Sonic Origins Plus
Jun 28, 2023

Sonic Origins Plus is the best way to play 16-bit Sonic video games. Skill challenges, modes specifically designed for speedrunners, and the ability to play each level with all the series' main characters make this collection a must-have for Sonic fans, despite the quite high price. The museum, once all the entries have been unlocked, is a great source of information, and the platformer action is still able to entertain after thirty years. The Game Gear section is unlikely to spark interest, but the more the content, the higher the value.

8.3 / 10.0 - Bread & Fred
Jun 5, 2023

Bread & Fred is hard in solo, almost impossible in co-op, it still manages to be a lot of fun provided you have a lot of patience and understanding with your partner. Dedicated to those who love extreme platformers, but casual players might find it too frustrating.

7.7 / 10.0 - Bum Simulator
Jun 5, 2023

Bum Simulator could have simply offered vulgarities with no real purpose, but instead include a quite demential but nevertheless interesting story to follow, and a good crafting system. The world to explore is small, the combat system isn't enough complex and technically it could be way better, but in the end the formula works.

Won't be easy to drop the game before defeating SHODAN. This happens mainly thanks to an excellent gameplay set in superbly designed levels, despite some technical inaccuracies. Many hours await you in a continuous challenge between human and artificial intelligence.

8 / 10.0 - After Us
May 23, 2023

Besides being a fun game, After Us also offers a very interesting setting. Some technical problems in controlling Gaia do not negatively affect the experience, making it a recommended game for those who love to visit complex worlds platform after platform.

8.5 / 10.0 - OTXO
May 9, 2023

Otxo is violent and frenetic, but it is not a game where you simply have to pull the trigger, as bullet time management is crucial. The roguelike component is not very developed and the game could be better with a progression system, anyway it's an absolutely recommended buy.

8.3 / 10.0 - Lone Fungus
May 8, 2023

Lone Fungus, although produced by a single developer, is a huge metroidvania. Hardcore gamers will have to work hard to earn all the trophies, while those who prefer a more casual approach can configure the difficulty to their liking and enjoy the game without the slightest frustration.

7.8 / 10.0 - Showgunners
May 2, 2023

Showgunner blends real-time action and turn-based combat very carefully, adding nothing to either genre but placing them within a brutal reality show in which surviving is everything that matters. The result is fun and the game is recommended for loyal fans of the genre, but those hoping for some new features may be disappointed.

9 / 10.0 - Dead Island 2
Apr 18, 2023

Dead Island 2 is a first person slasher that goes all-in for gore, and it wins. The FLESH engine takes fighting fun to a level never seen before, with an extremely realistic aesthetic that also impacts the zombies' ability to move. Maps are not particularly large and the story flows along rigid tracks, but everything is functional and works well for a classic action adventure offering. A B-Movie that will delight those who love to kill (again) zombies in smashing ways, with old school gameplay enhanced by new technologies.

8 / 10.0 - Deceive Inc.
Apr 13, 2023

Deceive Inc. strives to distinguish itself from the mass of competitive multiplayer with a more stealth approach. The formula is successful and the matches are a lot of fun, however more content and a premium season need to be added to offer the same variety as the kings of this genre do: the premise is great, but only time and players interest will determine the game's success.

The Last of Us Part I is a masterpiece of gameplay with a story worthy of Hollywood. Definitely the best transposition of Joel and Ellie's adventures, with some technical inconveniences on day one that are being quickly resolved.

8 / 10.0 - Tchia
Mar 27, 2023

Tchia is an open world with many scenic settings to discover and just as many activities in which to engage while interacting with the Caledonian culture. The Soul Jump is one of the best features of the game, which, however, despite a well-told story risks to slip into boredom due to an almost complete absence of combat.

8 / 10.0 - The Last Spell
Mar 9, 2023

The Last Spell combines RPG, Tower Defense, and City Builder genres, with the extermination of numerous hordes as seen in They Are Billions, managing combat with the beloved turn-based system. The problem is precisly here: each run is a complex and slow chess match that can last a very long time, so those expecting quick sessions may be disappointed.
