Critic Reviews for Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles

Despite a capricious early game, Astrea is a very pretty, refreshing & tense spin on the tried-and-true deckbuilder.

Those who have been enthusiastic about Slay the Spire should also jump on Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles without delay. Everyone else will find a complete deck builder in which instead of cards there are dice, with which to build chains of combos playing on the dualism Purification and Corruption. The huge amount of Oracles, dice and Blessings to unlock, Sentinels to upgrade and enemies to defeat guarantees excellent replayability even if the too many combinations available favor luck a little too much at the expense of strategy. The graphics are inspired even if the colors chosen, light blue and crimson, do not enjoy a good contrast.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is a complex and engaging dice builder. The universe is interesting, even if the lore is mostly expressed via gameplay and presentation. There are a ton of dice to choose from as players build their own playstyle around their favorite hero.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is easily the best game I’ve played from Akupara Games thus far. It’s challenging, beautiful, complex, and an utter joy to play. Not only is it an amazing example of the rogue-like genre, but it’s also one of the first dice-builders I’ve ever played. If you’re at all a fan of the genre, do yourself a favor and get a copy!

A more than interesting mechanical twist on roguelite deck-building, with a well-rounded gameplay system, a considerable level of challenge and a unique and striking visual identity.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is a welcome innovation in the deck-building roguelike RPG genre, bringing dice instead of cards to put a unique spin on the gameplay mechanics. The dynamics of the dice add an element of probability and risk, making battles exciting and with touches of unpredictability. Furthermore, the game offers a wide variety of heroes, mechanics and strategies to explore. However, excessive complexity in some areas, such as the multitude of effects during battles and insufficient information in the interface, can hamper the experience. Over time, we learn to deal with these negative issues, but some adjustments to these aspects would make the runs more enjoyable. Overall, Astrea stands out as a captivating addition to the genre, requiring patience and dedication to master its nuances and make the most of its strategic depth.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracle presents an interesting new combat system that creates complex scenarios for you to navigate, if it weren't for the not yet perfected balancing that at times makes things more straightforward than they should be.
