Lover Pretend is an otome game with a narrative that ends up a little too reliant on plot convenience for its romance to work. Even so, its youthful text, charismatic characters and excellent illustrations are enough to make it a good addition to the Switch library. It's worth a try if a basic drama is all you're looking for.

Though it has some execution issues, Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk and Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk is a visual novel with a curious concept worth trying. With a translation to Portuguese, the work discusses pertinent questions with a compelling psychological atmosphere but they deserved more depth and development.

Tactics Ogre Reborn brings back a classic strategic RPG in style. It is an essential game for any player, although some specific choices of the new edition make it difficult for newcomers to enter the genre. Even so, Tactics Ogre continues to show not only the competence of its creators, but the great possibility of games in general as art and reflection.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force is an excellent addition to the franchise, giving its gameplay a new lease of life. Despite its problems, the plot manages to maintain a consistently serious tone throughout the main events, and the relationships between the characters are well established. Here's hoping that future games can expand on what went well in this one, and explore elements of the Star Ocean universe even further.

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits is a curious mix of gacha arcade and fishing. Unfortunately, the game fails to offer a detailed learning to new players and the complexity of its mechanics may be frustrating without bringing enough reward for learning the proper way to play. Even so, the good gameplay mode variety and its apparently genuine obsession with the fishing context and aquatic creatures may be enough to make the game something very pleasant for some players.

ALPHA-NIGHTHAWK is a visual novel with a very unique ambientation, mixing sci-fi elements with a context that justifies artificial humanoid foxes. For people who like stories with those elements, it's a really engaging title, though it doesn't conclude the plot's main conflict. Here's hoping its sequel, BETA-SIXDOUZE, which is already available in Japan, also comes west and that it may offer an even more thrilling conclusion.

Yomawari: Lost in the Dark manages to show that cute graphics aren't a hindrance for a high quality horror game. With an excellent direction, especially in the sound department, the title does a prime job at keeping the player immersed in the context of its fragile protagonist facing the night creatures.

Finally Them's Fightin' Herds is available on consoles and proves to be a very competent fighting game. Although its reduced cast and the inconvenient challenges of the story mode weigh a little, the concept of fights between quadrupeds, the strong charisma, the good variety of modes and the unique campaign concept draw attention within the genre and make it a title worth checking out.

Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief is a curious stealth game that seems like patchwork. Exploring its systems and seeing the consequences of your actions is fun but the complexity is unnecessary, the mechanics poorly explained, the missions end up being too repetitive and the remaster process needed a little more effort. For those who love the genre and would like an upbeat experience, it may be enjoyable as long as you keep in mind its grievances.

Despite an exotic combination that stands out, unfortunately Paradigm Paradox is a very superficial otome game. With very short routes and a story that seems rushed, it doesn't manage to develop the characters' relationships in a satisfactory manner and its ambientation ends up sounding as a badly designed excuse. Though there are some interesting moments due to the boys' nuances, it's hard to justify getting the title when all other Aksys otome games so far are more compelling.

Chaos;Head Noah is a classic visual novel that explores a very pertinent discussion about our sense of reality. Unfortunately, after so many years of expectation for the western release, the game comes with translation text of a subpar quality compared to what it deserved. Even so, for the fans of the genre, it's a work worth checking out.

Chaos;Child is a great example of the visual novels' potential. With its dark atmosphere, the title uses concepts from Chaos;Head to create a modern and impressive experience. Though the Switch edition introduces some small technical issues that weren't present in the previous versions, it's a must-play for fans of narrative games.

The DioField Chronicle is a solid strategic RPG that manages to bring out the nuances of warfare on an island coveted by the ambitions of various individuals. Once again, Picross S8 is an excellent example of a logic puzzle. Its main novelty is the co-op mode, but, at least right now, it doesn't feel like a major new feature for the fans of the genre, as solving these [mental] challenges is usually a lonesome, reflective and intimist experience. Even so, the elegant design, simple Portuguese tutorials, quality of life resources and rich content make it a phenomenal experience and consistent [in quality] with its predecessors.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero finally comes west in a great edition that the fans who followed the series so far will enjoy a lot. Unfortunately, the PS4 version doesn't have the same benefits of the PC and Switch editions, but to JRPG fans who have access to the non-Sony systems, the title is an excellent choice. Expectations are high for Trails to Azure also getting a high quality port in 2023.

As a sequel to Fated Memories, Piofiore: Episodio 1926 manages to offer an even more intense narrative that gains depth as it reflects upon the social and political aspects of the historic period represented. Though it has some dependence on its predecessor in order to offer a complete experience, this is one of the best games in the genre available on Switch, a really impressive feat when we can even say high quality is the current norm of those visual novels.
