Chinatown Detective Agency is an investigation game with an atypical proposal, which seeks to encourage the player to research on their own in the real world. Despite this, it is a very limited experience and one that deserved more polishing to really become a good example of the genre.

Ikai is a horror game with a solid atmosphere and that's its main strength. Unfortunately, its tendency to jumpscare and poorly implemented puzzles cause the game to lose its momentum. Because of this, much of the gameplay feels more like an inconvenience than essential to the experience. Even so, fans of the genre will probably enjoy it a lot.

Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars is a competent action game. Despite being limited and clearly low-budget, it is a fun game that both fans of both franchises and people interested only in good action should appreciate.

Doukyuusei: Bangin’ Summer is an interesting classic game, especially for its historical value. Though its story has sexist elements that may annoy some players and the management aspect is too restrictive, it's worth diving into this work. It is especially recommended for people interested in knowing a little more of a genre with such a major influence in Japan.

UuultraC is another unique BL title from ADELTA and it’s easy to see improvements to the Kurosawa Rinko artstyle. However, the messy delivery of its plot keeps it from living up to its potential with a confusing narrative style that hinders the experience more than it does improve it. Even so, fans of the genre are likely to enjoy this wild ride and should give this experimental work a try.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land knows how to make the most of the strengths of the pink puffball franchise to deliver a game that is undeniably one of its greatest peaks. Although the transition to a fully three-dimensional world took many years, Kirby's new game manages to stay true to what has always been the essence of the series: fun accessible to all and a beautiful challenge for those who want to delve deeper into the exploration of their world.

For fans of the franchise who would like to revisit the Persona 3 and 4 universes in a different way, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is an excellent choice. In addition to carefully adapting elements of the RPGs that gave rise to it, it's a high-quality fighting game, and even those who don't know the series and just want a new title in the genre will appreciate it.

Syberia: The World Before is a fascinating point-and-click. With breathtaking ambient designs and a story that highlights the horrors of war and hatred, it's a title that's worth diving into. Though there are a few small issues, I believe they do not diminish the worth of this work which definitely left me intrigued to also check its predecessors.

Ashwalkers had the potential to be a very peculiar experience. Unfortunately, its sluggishness and superficiality end up turning its excellent proposal into something very limited. To make matters worse, the Switch version still has performance issues that make everything noticeably slower. Thanks to all these factors, it is a game that is difficult to recommend, but one that players more inclined to intimate and solemn adventures may still be able to enjoy.

Though it is still somewhat lacking in the quality of life department, Phantom Breaker: Omnia is a game that is worth getting for fans of the genre. With a gameplay that offers simple inputs but many possibilities for combat, this game has a lot more to offer than it may seem at first.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a fine example of Nippon Ichi Software's creative ability. It's a small-scope, low-budget RPG, but its consistent design makes it an engaging fairytale. The title is especially recommended for fans of simpler RPGs and children's narratives that present beautiful moral discussions.

Stuck with gameplay elements that seem to be tied to the mobile business model, Egglia Rebirth is a game that could have been so much more. With funny texts, charismatic characters and a curious proposal, the game is still a good recommendation for any fans of RPGs and more experimental simulators. However, it feels like the experience was severely impacted by their original business model.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is an excellent addition to a high-quality RPG franchise. Although the final stretch ends up weakening the experience a little by taking longer than it should and making progress difficult, it clearly shows the great skill of developer Gust and any RPG fan should give the game a chance.

Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires is a solid action game, but it deserved more polish. I had fun playing it, but there are more interesting titles on the market and the Switch version is definitely not ideal. Even so, perhaps a newbie to the style like myself might consider it a good gateway to exploring other similar games.

Maglam Lord is a stylish, enjoyable and charismatic action RPG. With an enjoyable narrative, good translation and fun combat, it's not hard to fall in love with the game. Some technical aspects deserved to be more polished, but it's still a good recommendation, especially for fans of the genre.

Presented as the new Apex of 2D action, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 is a really high quality work in the genre. Though its initially lower difficulty and infinite healing system may annoy a few veterans, it's a game that offers frantic action and allows any kind of player to enjoy its beautiful stages in their own way. It's an instant classic.

SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is a captivating game with a simple system that can be a very good entry point into the TCG genre. Unfortunately, the emulation of this Neo Geo Pocket classic doesn't take into account the uniqueness of the original version and ends up undermining what could even have been the best re-release of the portable for the Switch.

Dimension Tripper Neptune: TOP NEP is a vibrant rail shooter that manages to be a good entry point in the genre. Even with low difficulty and little incentive to play again besides the scoring system, the title is competent in what it proposes and a beautiful addition to the Gamindustri universe.

If I had to describe Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space in one short sentence, it would probably be “a timeless classic”. With high doses of humor that ranges from nonsense to the North American stand-up style, the game is deeply captivating and charismatic. With competent remastering and just a few minor issues, the Switch experience is well worth it.
