Yars: Recharged is a great remake that vastly improves the gameplay of the original classic, featuring new weapons, more challenges and more balanced difficulty, with original graphics and music that reinforce its modern retro spirit. Unfortunately the gameplay can become repetitive over time, in addition to having a bug that reduces the music as we go through the levels and that spoils the experience a little. Still, it's a solid, fun game for anyone who wants to challenge themselves with a simple, mechanically satisfying indie game.

Midnight Fight Express is a dynamic and frenetic fighting game that makes the player feel like the protagonist of an action movie. Senren Banka is a visual novel with beautiful artwork and emotional romance and drama scenes. It's a work with good artistic direction and, despite its main plot having a slow start that's a little unappealing, it starts getting better in the love interest routes themselves. The main strength of this visual novel is on the uncertainties of love rather than its erotic appeal.

Seven Pirates H is a simple and fun JRPG with unique mechanics, filled with absurd humor, with satisfying gameplay and an unabashed focus on fanservice as its selling point. On one side, this emphasis on eroticism can be uncomfortable for some people. On the other, it'll definitely please adults looking specifically for this feature. It isn't a game recommended for everyone, but it certainly has appeal for its target audience.

Slipstream is a fun nostalgic racing game. Although its tracks present exaggerated curves with strange design, its uncompromising arcade gameplay and drift and vacuum mechanics provide a lot of fun in a retro style, fulfilling its proposal very well. Edge of Eternity is a good RPG, that maybe was a little too ambitious for a small studio but delivers a good experience for people who wish for a JRPG mixing medieval fantasy with magic and technology. The soundtrack is consistently excellent unlike its visual presentation which varies from marvelous to frustrating. Battles are fun and challenging, with simple, interesting mechanics. I honestly believe that, if Midgar Studios had more budget, Edge of Eternity could have competed with the JRPGs of big developers in scale and quality.

Red Ronin is an indie that unites action and board mechanics in an exciting turn-based tactical game. The visual and sound effects are very stylish and convey the feeling of extreme skill on the part of the protagonist. The first half of the campaign is excellent and will hook the player, but the final missions can be a rather tiring exercise in trial and error. It's a title with interesting premises and recommended for anyone who wants to try a tactical puzzle, but with frantic action.

It's curious to see how well the franchises fit in Neptunia vs. SENRAN KAGURA: Ninja Wars, as originally they didn't have many elements in common, except for the emphasis on the girls' physical attributes. Even with differences in tone, and even in the aesthetics of the two universes, the final product is a fun action game and - of course - with a lot of fanservice. Despite the convoluted script that could delve a little deeper into the characters, it is a product suitable for fans, which is sustained by the combat action and the charisma.

As a film, Erica is a very engaging thriller, not for the somewhat cliché plot, but for the interactivity that brings a special flavor, since the decisions define the ending that will be shown. It is a pity that only the options at the end of the film really matter for the outcome and that there is no system for revisiting scenes or altering decisions. Still, Erica is an interesting title for anyone who is looking for simple entertainment, but with the participation of the viewer, staying in the middle between a conventional film and a game.

After an entire generation without new R-Type games, it is nice to be able to play Final 2, which has kept the main traditions of the series. The visuals are only ok and it has crazy difficulty spikes in the middle of the campaign, but the creative level design of the final stages and that feeling of finishing a difficult game compensate the slow and boring start. R-Type Final 2 is not for everyone; it is explicitly aimed at hardcore shoot ‘em ups fans, but it’s an interesting addition to the library on current consoles that lack good representatives in this genre.

Heading Out is a very interesting title, with a unique premise of mixing narrative elements and a racing game in a roguelite structure with very stylish black and white graphics and a soundtrack integrated to the action. The adventure features a simple plot but it's really intriguing and is shaped by the player choices. The excellent ambiance of running away through the roads is complemented by a beautiful and fun racing mode that only slips up for the little skill of the virtual opponents.

River City Girls 2 is a great beat 'em up, which builds on the success of its predecessor, maintaining fluid gameplay, RPG elements and, above all, its irreverent and attitude-filled setting. This gives the impression that it is very similar to the previous one, which is not exactly a defect if you liked the original. Despite occasional bugs and too many loading screens, this game is still a ton of fun and is one of the best beat 'em ups released in recent times. It is highly recommended for those who like the genre and mandatory for those who enjoyed the first RCG.
