Cricket Through the Ages takes inspiration from cricket to create a really fun casual game. With its accessible gameplay and good humor spread across all its features, it becomes a great option for those leisure moments with friends, even if the tutorials are poorly designed. Despite this, I don't recommend it if you don't have a friend to share the experience with. The campaign is fun, but after a short while, there isn't much to explore in singleplayer.

7 / 10.0 - Highwater
Mar 14, 2024

Highwater takes advantage of the climate debate to create a captivating story, even with some pitfalls. The story of Nikos and his friends is exciting and attracts mainly the musical part and the reflections regarding the protagonists' choices, which bring a melancholic air to the game. Combat is another high point, as there is a good variety of weapons and scenario elements that, when combined, allow you to develop many combat strategies. Its biggest problem, however, is the pace. Both the combat and the dialogues are drawn out, take a long time to finish and leave the adventure boring. Skipping lines or speeding up combat is not a good idea, as it gives the feeling of being disposable factors, but, in practice, they are very important. Still, I believe that Highwater is worth experiencing for its debate and great emotional appeal.

The Mobius Machine has some well executed ideas. The exploration is fun thanks to the available skills that modify our movement considerable. Besides that, the secrets, such as secret rooms and upgrade diagrams, motivate navigating through the world, even if it doesn't take us to the final goal directly. However, the combat leaves a lot to be desired. The variety of projectiles is unappealing and do not help diversify clashes, and there's little variety to enemies — And when there is some [graphical difference], they use attack and movement patterns identical to others. Even so, I still believe it's worth recommending it to those who love challenging exploration and won't be bothered by these issues.

8.5 / 10.0 - Dicefolk
Feb 29, 2024

Dicefolk uses and reinvents traditional concepts to create a unique adventure. There is a good variety of chimeras, skills and equipment that, when combined, allow us to develop the most varied strategies. Added to this, we have the change in perspective of turn-based combat, which makes the gameplay much more complex by requiring players to control both teams. I believe that balancing is necessary so that certain combinations are not much stronger than others, but the game is on the right track to please players looking for different turn-based combat.

7.5 / 10.0 - HELLCARD
Feb 1, 2024

HELLCARD has evolved a lot by improving what it had presented at the beginning of its Early Access period. The combat, although simple, provides the necessary tools to entertain and encourage the player to develop the most varied strategies, such as heroes with different classes, many cards, artifacts and the random arrangement of events throughout the game. However, the common problems of roguelikes are still present, such as continuous repetition due to the difficulty, the slow unlocking of interesting new features and an extra mode that, although good, becomes monotonous if you don't have company to play with. Despite this, Hellcard is still a good option if you like challenging games or enjoyed Book of Demons.

Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magics takes advantage of simple gameplay to create a fun game that's great for relaxing. Its concept of searching for hidden items in scenarios is not new, but it is well executed by bringing colorful, well-animated maps with a certain level of interaction, even if it is not ideal. Its creation mode is an excellent complement to improve the experience, as the campaign can be finished in a few hours. Even with some small limitations, Myths & Magics is an excellent recommendation for anyone looking for a pastime to relax.

8 / 10.0 - Trinity Fusion
Dec 22, 2023

Trinity Fusion uses the basics of roguelike to create a fun and dynamic adventure, with agile combat and a considerable variety of weapons and abilities. It doesn't innovate, far from it, and leaves something to be desired in terms of the structure of its stages, but the experience proved to be very enjoyable for fans of the genre.

By combining the rhythm and puzzle genres, Super Crazy Rhythm Castle created a unique and extremely fun adventure to experience with friends. Though it works fine in single player, the big highlight is the mode where we interact with our friends to surpass its diverse challenges. Alone or with friends, this is a great game to pass time, laugh and enjoy the music.

8 / 10.0 - The Last Faith
Nov 21, 2023

The Last Faith is a very competent game that manages to deliver a challenging but equally accessible soulslike experience. The absence of a movement limiter [like stamina] makes the experience a more dynamic and fun affair, especially for those who aren't so familiar with this kind of control. However, for those looking for a metroidvania experience, it has some issues, as the map exploration feels bad due to the protagonist's movement parameters. Even with this issue, it's definitely recommended for those looking for an entrypoint into the souls genre or those who are already experienced in it

6 / 10.0 - Spells & Secrets
Nov 17, 2023

Despite having some qualities, Spell & Secrets suffers from the problem of repetitiveness common in roguelike games and does not present many alternatives to overcome it. Its story is uninteresting, making it seem like a generic copy of Harry Potter, and its challenges are not very diverse, making it quickly dull and predictable. However, the spell options manage to ensure a bit of quality to the gameplay, allowing different approaches to combat, as well as multiplayer, which makes it more dynamic and fun. In this case, I believe that Spells & Secrets can be recommended if you have a friend to play with you.

Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist takes advantage of simple mechanics to create a fun and relaxing adventure. Any player, artist or not, can use the different tools available and produce the most diverse paintings while enjoying a pleasant ambiance and a wonderful soundtrack. Even though some aspects are not explored much (such as the story), Passpartout is more than recommended for those looking for a short game to pass the time and enjoy the day.

Ion Fury: Aftershock brings a generous amount of content to Voidpoint's boomer shooter, assuaging some of the issues of the base game and keeping all of its virtues. The new stages, weapons, and enemies bring a breath of fresh air while keeping the nostalgic structure intact and more pleasant. Even if some small issues persist, Aftershock is an expansion recommended to fans of the genre.

9 / 10.0 - Moonstone Island
Sep 23, 2023

Before I started playing it, one of my fears with Moonstone Island was that it would be just another game inspired by Stardew Valley. However, Studio Supersoft's title is an excellent example of how to build on popular games and still create something unique and striking. The procedural generation of islands ensures that each adventure is unique and the various construction, management, relationship, battle and exploration mechanics help you develop an adventure the way you want. Despite some small problems, it is a more than right recommendation for players who want to enjoy a great life simulator.

8 / 10.0 - Wandering Sword
Sep 20, 2023

Wandering Sword draws attention due to its beautiful audiovisual elements and its challenging combat. Its 2D HD graphics and soundtrack are spectacular, creating a unique setting for this adventure inspired by Chinese culture. The different styles of martial arts create a varied, dynamic combat that hardly falls into the same, although the grid structure doesn't help much. For the most enthusiastic, changing the turn-based system to real time is a feature that will certainly please. If you have good knowledge of English, we recommend a fun and captivating RPG.

8.5 / 10.0 - Summum Aeterna
Sep 13, 2023

Summum Aeterna doesn't revolutionize but it offers plenty of tools to amenize the usual issues of the roguelite games. The Aeternum Game Studios made an effort to add many elements that reduce the feeling of repetition and the limited design of the stages and managed to accomplish their mission. The combat is fast and pleasant and the high amount of upgrades and skills at the players' disposal help make each match unique. This way, it's worth a recommendation for all kinds of players, from the ones who are very invested in roguelites to those who aren't so intimate with the genre.

6.5 / 10.0 - WrestleQuest
Sep 12, 2023

In the end, I believe the balance is positive, especially due to the characters' charisma and the diverse customization elements for the combat. If there's an update fixing the issues, it's a definite recommendation.

8 / 10.0 - Affogato
Aug 25, 2023

Affogato subverts the tower defense genre and combines it with elements of management and social interaction to create a unique adventure. Despite some mechanics being underused, the game is a tough, strategic, and fun adventure that is sure to please fans of the genre. Maybe it's not the best option for beginners, but it's worth recommending to anyone looking for a good strategy game.

Ninja or Die: Shadow of the Sun uses an uncommon mechanic to create a unique action platformer. However, some exploration moments are frustrating for requiring precision in short platforms and areas with excessive elements causing visual pollution. The combat, on the other hand, is fast and fun, creating many intense moments. For those looking for something different within the roguelite genre, it's worth the recommendation.

7 / 10.0 - Adore
Aug 14, 2023

Adore offers good tools for players interested in monster catching and team management games. The good variety of monsters with unique skills and the essence system allow each player to develop the most varied combat strategies and adapt to different missions. However, the repetitive scenarios leave something to be desired and can bother those who like to spend time collecting items and exploring every corner of the map. Even though it's a little repetitive, this title has a lot of personality and is worth recommending.
