Giuseppe Nelva's Reviews

"Hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth."

The first three Uncharted games are among the best titles on PS3, and they hold their own majestically on PS4. If you didn't play the games on Sony's older console, and you're even remotely a fan of the genre, purchasing the collection is a no-brainer. If you already purchased the three titles separately on PS3, then the reasons to double dip are more limited, but if you love the series, this is definitely a very solid buy.

If you are a Total War fan or if you love strategy games, I can wholeheartedly recommend to give it a try, even if the shift away from a historical setting might make some frown. The gameplay, the flavor and charm of the setting, and the depth of options are definitely worth the effort to move a bit outside of the history comfort zone. On the other hand, if you are a Warhammer fan, I guess you don't really don't need my recommendation, you're most probably already playing it and enjoying the hell out of it.

And conquer I shall, even if for the first time in so many years, a MMORPG finally restored that sense of awe and adventure that I thought irremediably lost. For the first time in almost a decade, the world of a game finally managed to make me feel small again, and boy, this feels so good.

This remaster adds slightly improved graphics and frame rate, trophies and the bells and whistles coming with a modern console release. Arguably, this isn’t an enormous change, but fact is that the original game was already a masterpiece on its own, and Valkyria Chronicles Remastered brings back all that charm. What’s not to love?

On the other hand, if you want a massive, extremely fulfilling and rewarding simulation of World War II, then this game is a giant cornucopia of conflicts, engaging politics, management gameplay and pure fun. And when you’re tired of World War II, you’ll have endless alternate history scenarios to explore. Just make sure to go to work or school in the morning, because if Hearts of Iron IV really clicks with you, it won’t let go easily.

9 / 10.0 - Titanfall 2
Nov 4, 2016

This is certainly one of the best FPS games I have played in a long while, and it definitely does not fall short compared to more established franchises. Its biggest weakness certainly isn’t Respawn’s fault, as it’s a tasty hamburger between the Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Buns. If you love first person shooters, good sci-fi or giant robots, I implore you not to ignore this game just because of that sandwich. Titanfall 2 deserves your attention.

9 / 10.0 - Battlefield 1
Oct 28, 2016

That said, it’s an absolutely fantastic game. It shows the courage to break the mold of the established FPS settings, by bringing forth a nearly forgotten era, that comes packed with a lot of charm of its own. On top of that, it does so with tight and impactful gameplay that will keep the fans busy for a long time.

9 / 10.0 - Yakuza 0

If there is a game that fully embodies and actually easily overcomes the definition of “complete package,” that’s Yakuza 0. It’s a rich, colorful and engrossing experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who loves the genre, Japanese culture, or simply a very, very good story with some of the best and most genuinely likable characters you’ll ever encounter in gaming.

9 / 10.0 - Nioh

If you approach NiOh with the right mindset, all the frustration due to the ruthless level of challenge will turn into satisfaction when you overcome each obstacle. If you want to feel like a true samurai mastering the complex ways of or Japanese warfare, and you’re willing to pay the blood price for it, this is your game. Don’t call it Bloodborne 2. NiOh certainly deserves its own spotlight.

9 / 10.0 - Nier: Automata

Yet, it’s a fantastic and well balanced mix between sleek PlatinumGames action and JRPG gameplay, resulting bigger than the sum of its parts. It brings forth an absolutely fascinating setting, and charming, likable and memorable characters that will both make you smile and tug at your heart strings. 2B, 9S and the rest of the cast already cut themselves a well deserved corner in my heart, and I’m positive they will do the same for many of you as well.

9 / 10.0 - Yakuza Kiwami
Aug 21, 2017

Until then, I will keep my fingers crossed, because the only thing better than a fantastic remake of a beloved game, is two fantastic remakes of two beloved games. Yet, whether the sequel will come or not, Yakuza Kiwami will go down in history as one of the best remakes ever created, for a game that was already great on PS2.

9 / 10.0 - BattleTech
Apr 25, 2018

Despite a few technical shortcomings, BattleTech skillfully mixes a fascinating setting that deserves to be explored with a compelling story, extremely enjoyable sandbox elements, a ton of customization, and amazing tactical gameplay. If you love stomping around with giant robots (and who doesn't) and turn-based games, I can't recommend this game enough. It's arguably the best mecha video game on the market right now.

4.5 / 5.0 - Dead or Alive 6

Dead or Alive 6 is more accessible than ever, but it's still most definitely and unapologetically Dead or Alive, and that's exactly what it should be.
