Fate Seeker II is a solid game to add to the collection for those who are fans of the locales of China. It has an engaging story with a lot of different types of games inside its core that make it fun to play. The PS5 release may not be the greatest due to issues of moving a PC game to a console, but it is still a solid game.

While Fate Seeker stayed on a steady course within the traditional wuxia open-world genre, Fate Seeker 2 undoubtedly takes a more unconventional approach. The smooth 4K graphics on PS5 and a more immersive gameplay atmosphere provide an opportunity to rediscover Fate Seeker 2. After all, in recent years, it might be considered one of the best wuxia games out there.

Fate Seeker II is a game that takes you to the wuxia universe with a good premise, but that ends up having its positive points overshadowed by the problems of performance, narrative rhythm and dull exploration. Despite being a single-player title, the game follows a structure similar to that of an MMORPG and with mechanics that, even though they are interesting, tend to tire or even frustrate the player.

There’s a good premise locked behind bad execution in Fate Seeker II. Combat is sprinkled in as a highlight, but when most of the game is dialogue heavy, it is not enough.

Fate Seeker II is simply overwhelming in most aspects. With 20 fighting styles that each sport an enormous amount of attacks and combos, a plethora of side activities and a main story with more important characters than I could count it is just a lot. But a lot of this works surprisingly well despite all of this. The puzzles and investigations are especially great as is the main story and its cast once you start to see how everything and everyone is connected in one way or another. Unfortunately the combat itself is mostly dull, the English translation feels a bit shoddy and the technical aspects are middling at best. And yet it is an oddly compelling title that offers an interesting look at a different type of game from China.
