Critic Reviews for Speedball 2 HD
Speedball 2 definitely has the speed down, but the barebones multiplayer limits the fun.
Speedball 2 HD is a faithful remake of the 1990 classic. It retains everything that made the original game fun, but much of its design feels outdated as a 2013 release.
Fast paced and hard hitting, Speedball 2 HD combines full contact sports with association football and comes out pretty well. Since this title has some flaws and lacks online multiplayer, it isn't going to win the top division, but it holds its own and is certainly fun to play.
Speedball 2 HD plays worse, looks worse and is far, far easier than the Amiga version from almost 23 years ago.
Speedball 2 HD is a purchase for those who want to rekindle the early 90s, the glory days of gaming, the Amiga, the Master System, the Atari... however the resultant fire will barely light the soul, sizzling out all too quickly.
It’s a sad reality, but the time for Speedball 2 HD stays where it once originated, many years ago. This sort of thing is acceptable on a Megadrive, but archaic sports structures don’t make for well-oiled games in the present.
