Critic Reviews for Smurfs Kart

On the track, Smurfs Kart pulls off a surprisingly solid imitation of Mario Kart, with satisfying handling and some wonderful visuals (albeit at 30fps). In the grand leaderboard of Switch karting games, it's not quite going to trouble the podium places, but it's certainly lingering just behind the front-runners and definitely delivers an entertaining time, even if it's as short as its subject matter. A lack of courses is what keeps it from being one of the very best karting games on the Switch, but they certainly haven't Smurfed this one up.

Smurfs Kart is pretty smurfy, at least in some parts. It nails the mechanics of Mario Kart quite well, the presentation is quite nice despite the low frame rate, and it has a good sense of speed. That said, the small number of tracks, vagueness on weapons, and basic modes mean that most Smurfs fans will knock out everything in an afternoon and struggle to return. It's not that bad of a kart racer for the Switch, but only die-hard fans of the recent cartoon will want to make this their main kart racer.

Smurfs Kart is a simple game and doesn't try to be more than that. This is by no means a bad thing. The title knows what it wants to present and delivers casual, family fun using all the charisma and sympathy of the characters. Just like Clumsy Smurf, it slips up a little, making it unable to reach the highest places of the podium, but it's fun enough to be worth a few laps.

This game has no future for my own interests. I can nod and say “I played it,” followed by shrugging if asked if I liked it. If my friend wanted to try it, I’d give it another spin with them, but it’s far, far down the list for a game I’d recommend to pick up and play.

Smurfs Kart doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, instead giving you a clear Mario Kart-inspired kart racer with fantastic visuals, a good variety of playable Smurfs and accessible gameplay. If your family is looking for their next competitive racer, this game delivers tons of multiplayer thrills.

Smurfs Kart is a decent and fun game to play, while it may be awfully similar to the ever-so-popular Mario Kart. It is still enjoyable and a safe choice for those who do like games like this. Smurfs Kart is fun, brings its own unique twist, and has lovable characters that complement many ages of players through the generations.
