Resident Evil 4 (2023) Reviews
Capcom once again deliver lessons on how to reintroduce a game to today's audience. Resident Evil 4 is a remake rich in content, surprises, and well-crafted set pieces. Action, moments of anguish and pure terror comprise a package that is an essential addition to any player's game library.
With Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom has really done the impossible, making it, in fact, far better than the original. The game environments are rich in small details and make the world vibrant, the gunplay has been revamped (mind you not overturned), introducing a number of new and useful improvements, from the aid of knives (usable in a variety of ways), through a truly superlative ammo creation system and healing kits. The remake adds a more survivalist aspect to RE4's gameplay: a perfect blend of resource management (of the classic Resident Evil games) and the action turn taken with the original RE4. The controls are more in step with the times and the graphical rendering-thanks to the RE Engine-is truly incredible. While, the excellent work done on plot and characters provides a richer, more connected and coherent experience. Kudos also go to the excellent use of DualSense on the PlayStation 5. In short, Resident Evil 4 Remake is the best remake we have ever played, and that could stand to mean that 2005 and 2023 could share the same award, namely that of game of the year!

This is Resident Evil 4 at its best.
Resident Evil 4 is Capcom at it's best. When you thought the multiple ports of the original might make this Remake feels outdated or "money-grabby", is definitely worth the price of entry even if you've played every version of the original game.

The game’s AI director rations health and ammo in such a way that players never feel like they have enough resources for the fight ahead. The resultant state of dread rarely lets up over the game’s 15-hour campaign but its meticulous balance mitigates frustration. As well as a serious graphical overhaul, some of the plot has been tightened up and the cheesy dialogue has been rewritten and is performed by new actors. Resident Evil 4 has never looked or sounded so good, and for new and returning players alike, this is now the definitive way to play.
The remake of Resident Evil 4 is, in one word... admirable. The developers managed to take a beloved original and not forget, with all the changes, what made it so special. You don't see that very often. Let's give it a round of applause, and hats off to you, Capcom.

Capcom have another masterpiece on their hands with the release of this remake. It preserves everything that made the original game so iconic but has also expanded on aspects and removed others to create a new, well paced masterpiece that honours the original game and has plenty of surprises for new or old fans. It’s certainly not going to be the last remake of a popular game we see that’s for sure, but it sets a new benchmark for how video game remakes should be treated.
By being faithful to all the elements that made Resident Evil 4 a history-making game, the remake of this classic game has become a lasting work that can be experienced and enjoyed many times. If you are an old fan of Resident Evil, you will like this remake so much that you will review your sweet memories and if you are not very familiar with this series, maybe in 2023 Resident Evil 4 will not be a revolutionary work, but it is made so well that everything is in its place and will remind you which franchise currently holds the throne of the survival horror genre.

Nearly 20 years after its original release, Resident Evil 4 is still as much fun to play through as it was in 2005. The game offers an astounding experience from beginning to end.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake follows what other remakes have done over the past few years, offering a far superior gameplay experience for a hit classic. What it does to stand above those remakes is by adding just enough new mechanics to make it feel like a more modern take on this tale, without having it be one-sided for players but also keeping to what transformed this entry into such a hit when it originally came out in 2005. The Resident Evil 4 Remake is a graphical masterpiece that is a hell of a ride from start to finish.
"Resident Evil 4 Remake" is the strongest of the modern remakes in the franchise, staying pure to the heart of the game while modernizing it for 2023.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake takes what was already a great game and improves upon it in every way. By addressing the shortcomings of the original, Capcom has created a game that is sure to delight both longtime fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.
Capcom has taken an already remarkable game that is 18 years old, revised, improved, and modernized one of the best games the franchise has to offer.
There has never been a buzz around the workplace lunch table and in social circles quite like the anticipation for this remake of Resident Evil 4. I’ve been a part of many conversations in recent weeks as the world has prepared itself for the 3rd remake project in this beloved series of games. The conversations are always divisive. Some love the thrill and flood of adrenaline that comes from the intensity of these games. Yet there are many gamers that recoil at the thought and just cannot participate in this style of game.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is a flawless recreation of an already phenomenal game, and I absolutely cannot wait for fans of the original to get blown away by the sheer quality of content on display here.
Resident Evil 4 is once again a milestone for all fans of horror and survival games in the form of its remake. By retelling and slightly expanding one of the best stories in the series and significantly modernizing the gameplay compared to the original, this game once again raises the bar on what we can expect from the entire survival horror genre. It's not perfect, and it would benefit from being a little more concise, but Resident Evil 4 is an injection of fun and quality into your lives.

Resident Evil 4 remake is not only a redefined horror, but it’s a remake that has once more asserted itself into the Mount Rushmore of video games.
"Resident Evil 4" isn't perfect and doesn't quite match the heights of "Resident Evil 2." However, it's a fun romp and a great remake for a beloved game.
In truth, I highly recommend both titles. The original is available on Steam at a very affordable price with said version having all of the content added over the various releases such as Separate Ways and Assignment Ada. There is also the VR port which offers a new way to play the original that is surprisingly well made. Considering the remake is $60, with a free update adding Mercenaries, it is almost criminal. I am happy to say that this remake is a new favorite of mine, when the original is already one of my favorite titles ever in the first place. In a world where most remakes try to rely on the original, it’s refreshing to see one that stands on its own terms.
Resident Evil 4 Remake may not be the 1:1 remake that fans may have been hoping for, but for all that Capcom has accomplished with it, it certainly does manage to recapture the very same magic we experienced decades ago. It’s what I remember playing, even though I know how different it actually is, and that, to you, should tell you enough just how good of a remake this ended up being. And sure, there are some changes that fans may not be too fond of, but overall, Resident Evil 4 remake ends up remaining faithful, elevating the original vision to new heights with its overhauled gameplay, improved visuals, and refined story. If it’s even possible, Capcom has made an already excellent game even better, and as it stands now, Resident Evil 4 remake is now the gold standard when it comes to remakes.
