Casey Donnellan Games has tailored a well balanced game to carry out its goal. Kill It With Fire hits the right mix of fun and length. If you are an arachnophobe, this may not be the game for you. If the idea of squashing spiders for fun appeals to your darker side, this is the game for you. Kill It With Fire is available on all platforms, be it flat or VR. And now it has come to the PSVR 2. Happy Hunting!

Overall, Kill It With Fire VR is a fun time and one that is well suited to VR. Taking the tried and true formula of the 2D original, tinyBuild has upped the ante and added a new layer of immersion. While the experience lacks depth after a while, there’s no doubt that it combines gross-out horror with colorful fun in a way that few games these days can match.

Killing spiders is incredibly easy – Kill It With Fire VR makes it fun. Scratch that – it makes it dumb fun. Despite the jump scares and spiders, I kept myself fully entertained because of the sheer number of ridiculous things I could use to kill spiders. If a book from the shelf wasn't enough, maybe a shotgun would do the trick. No dice? Shurikens. No? Fine. Flamethrower. That'll work. Some of its controls lack explanation and its features could be better explained. Once you figure it out, Kill It With Fire VR lends itself for a fun afternoon VR experience or party game if you want to mess around with some friends.

Kill It With Fire VR tries to make a full game out of a simple idea: crushing spiders. Unfortunately, after a few levels you'll find yourself losing interest due to the repetitive gameplay. The extra assignments are fun, but do not mean that you have to do the same thing several times. The mediocre graphics, physics and controls work against this game and the new PSVR2 hardware unfortunately cannot disguise this. This is a VR game that was fun as one of the first VR games, but now it's disappointing when you compare it to the newer VR titles on the market.

Kill It With Fire VR spins its web onto the Meta Quest 2, giving you weapons to rid your home and various locations of a spider infestation. Your main goal is to find the different spiders within the world by opening drawers and cabinets, looking under lamps and books, within trashcans, and more. Once you see a spider, intense music and a showdown to slaughter the arachnid occur.

I still need to commend the fact that, indeed, Kill It With Fire VR is much better than its non-VR counterpart, but mostly by default. That game just was plain bad to begin with, so adapting it to a more immersive medium, with the addition of (clunky) motion controls to mess around with would automatically make it more engaging. Sadly, just like the original Kill It With Fire, it is fun for an hour, maybe two, but it will then get boring pretty quickly.
