Critic Reviews for Liberté
Liberté is an exciting, fresh adventure in a compelling world and deserves to put developer Superstatic well and truly on the map.
Avoid Liberté like a one-way ticket to the Guillotine. Instead, if you want to experience the French Revolution, read a book instead. It will be more interactive, the loading times will be much improved, and the graphics will probably be better too.
Lacklustre gameplay and a dull aesthetic means that Liberté is a far from revolutionary entry in the genre.
There's nothing massively wrong with Liberté, but everything it does has been done better somewhere else.
Liberté has many interesting ideas, and one that with time could become something good, or maybe even great. But for now there's simply too much missing to recommend it.
Liberté is an astonishing game with a beautifully crafted world to explore and an intensely rich story. The use of deckbuilding actually takes this game over the top with how it’s structured because it gives you more freedom to play and adapt your current run to what you need. Aside from the bug with aiming at elevated enemies, the game has you coming back for more with each run, bringing you closer to resolving the conflict in Paris.
Despite its strengths, Liberté does have a bit of a learning curve, especially for those who are new to the deck-building genre. However, the tutorial is really easy to follow and the difficulty increases gradually, which makes it easy for both newbies and experienced players to get into the game. In a nutshell, Liberté is an awesome deck-builder roguelite that takes you on a thrilling journey through the French Revolution.
