Cross Tails Reviews
Cross Tails is one of KEMCO's more unique releases in quite some time. Although the story never surprises, the gameplay mechanics of this isometric, tactical JRPG certainly do. Turn-based combat fans shouldn't let this one slip past without serious consideration.
The narrative and translation leave a lot to be desired, but the cute aesthetic and core gameplay are enough to make it worth trying out if you enjoy tactical RPGs.
Cross Tails is one of the best strategy RPGs that I've played in a long time with its in-depth systems and rewarding combat. It made me incredibly happy that some developers are still inclined to resurrect formulas that you don't see often enough nowadays.
Cross Tails is tantalizingly close to perfection in the grand scheme of things. The lack of mouse support and some issues with English localization are blemishes that mar an otherwise stellar experience. However, these are not insurmountable obstacles. From where I stand, I see a universe of untapped potential waiting to be realized. This game could ascend to the pantheon of gaming classics with a few refinements. In conclusion, Cross Tails is a mesmerizing blend of compelling stories, breathtaking graphics, intricate combat systems, and emotionally charged dialogues. It’s a game that doesn’t just entertain; it lingers in your soul, inviting you to dream, explore, and hope in a world where legends come to life.
Though it brings a vast character customization, an entertaining story and the possibility to visit the same story from two different perspectives, Cross Tails doesn't manage to be a highlight in any of these aspects among RPGs, as other games in the genre managed to do everything this KEMCO title proposes better. Besides, the audiovisual presentation also leaves something to be desired despite running well on Switch. Nowadays, there are better RPG options in the market. It's not enough to show potential if it's constantly hindered by the grinding in the long run.

With a really solid gameplay, it's clear Cross Tails had potential to shine even brighter. However, the lack of care to the sound aspect leaves a gap that can't be crossed for the game to reach what it could have been. Despite this issue, it's a good option for tactics RPG fans, as it has an interesting plot divided into two distinct campaigns and it offers a great variety of classes allowing the player to explore their creativity with varied builds.

Cross Tails is a solid strategy title with strong mechanics and plenty of user choice when it comes to unit customisation along with pleasant visuals and music. Despite the small map sizes, the enemy units provide a good challenge that even some lifelong SRPG developers struggle to accomplish. It’s a ‘thumbs up’ from me.
