Critic Reviews for Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island
A gentle cadence and quirky characters can't counter Mythwrecked's repetitiveness, making this more Greek tragedy than odyssey.
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island offers a heartfelt and companionable experience that puts the focus on friendship, memory and community. It's a charming adventure, and a perfect island-based break from the cold winter and its charmless blockbusters.
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is a strange new take on Greek Mythology where players will solve puzzles and forge friendships with the gods themselves.
Cozy adventure in which you'll help out the Greek gods who have lost their memories
The gods of the Greek pantheon are front and center in “Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island”. They feel like real characters and it is a joy to get to know them. Unfortunately the gameplay is a very shallow affair that consists mostly of finding an item on one side of the island that you have to deliver to a god on the other side of the island. This can be very appealing though and combined with the great cast it results in more than one long and annoying fetch quest. Paired with the great visuals and so many very cute animations makes it a worthwhile stay on Ambrosia Island.

Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is a heartfelt narrative adventure that celebrates the power of friendship and community. Its vibrant art, relaxing gameplay, and nuanced writing combine to create an experience that feels both personal and universal. While the exploration could benefit from a touch more challenge, the game’s charm and thoughtful design make it an absolute joy to play. I just hope that when award season rolls around next year, people don’t forget Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island.
Polygon Treehouse has delivered another gem, Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island, which is a delight from start to finish. It combines a heartfelt narrative, accessible gameplay, and a beautifully crafted world to create a truly memorable adventure. Whether you’re here for the mythology, the humour, or the cosy vibes, you’ll find plenty to love in Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island.
Mythwrecked presents an original take on the Greek pantheon that turns them into likeable, relatable people with grounded issues, and a very solid gameplay loop that makes the entire thing go down smoothly. Unfortunately, it's hampered by a lack of narrative emphasis and a main character that doesn't get much of her own development.
