Critic Reviews for Tearscape

Tearscape embraces a general air of effective simplicity: it can be felt in its pleasing Game Boy Color aesthetic, dark adventure setting, humble environmental elements, and its concise variety of enemies and puzzles. It’s good enough in all these areas, though neither impresses nor surprises. The key distinguishing features, therefore, lie in taking inspiration from Bloodborne and in the option to play through the entire campaign in two-player co-op — a compelling feature that greatly suits the genre and more titles should consider offering.

Tearscape incorporates a lot of great mechanics gathered from different genres, mainly old Game Boy Color RPGs and modern Souls-likes. Somewhere along the way, however, it fumbles the execution. That said, it isn't a long game—taking me about 8 hours to beat—and I can't say I regret playing it.
