eFootball Kick-Off! Reviews
Unlike the main version of the franchise, which revolves around weekly events, card acquisition, temporary campaigns, and constant updates, the Nintendo Switch 2 game focuses on a much more traditional experience. Progression happens primarily on the field, through matches played and the natural evolution of the squad, without relying on the loot box systems that have marked eFootball's recent history.

For its more affordable price, it certainly becomes a more attractive title for most, and in fact, for those who are more casual fans of the sport itself, it will certainly serve well in the short term. However, for those who are knowledgeable about rosters, teams, and players, some aspects may weigh negatively on this title.

eFootball Kick Off is a convincing step forward for Konami, bringing back much of what made the series so beloved in the first place. Its fluid gameplay, stable 60 FPS performance, and Switch 2-exclusive content make it a great option for football fans. However, weak goalkeepers, the lack of deeper offline modes, and some questionable licensing decisions hold it back from reaching its full potential. Even so, considering its price and the fun it delivers on the pitch, it’s an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a solid football game on Nintendo Switch 2.

"Fun and Simple Football" eFootball Kick-Off! offers a fun football experience that focuses on the basics of gameplay rather than a plethora of modes and content. It succeeds in delivering smooth, tactical matches suitable for quick play sessions, but suffers from a lack of content in the long run. A good option for football fans on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it still needs more modes and depth to reach the level of the full versions.

The gameplay is solid and it runs seamlessly on the Switch 2, with minor sacrifices for performance. Online play has its challenges due to the ability to use a team of superstars, but matching their efforts will see a more even approach.
The Switch 2 eFootball Kick-Off! is a curious case of nostalgia and limitations. It's obviously inspired by the golden era of PES and Master League, but it just doesn't have the depth that made those experiences so rich. What it does offer is good, responsive football gameplay at a bargain price of around £15.98 / $19.99. That said, the core on-pitch experience is actually fun for that price, especially in short bursts or local multiplayer sessions.
eFootball Kick-Off! marks the long-awaited return of Konami football to Nintendo shores after more than a decade of absence, offering an unusual yet appreciated offline, premium formula that breaks away from the live-service model. However, despite a consistently enjoyable core gameplay and a budget-friendly entry price, the content offering proves to be too weak; between bare-bones customization and a World Tour mode that loses its bite as soon as you max out your team, the title struggles to keep players hooked for more than ten hours. Ultimately, it ends up feeling more like a prolonged tutorial for newcomers rather than a true standalone single-player football game.

Sadly, despite the pricing being on point and Konami having laid a solid foundation with eFootball Kick-Off! by dropping the gacha nonsense of the main game and making the minute-to-minute gameplay feel really good, they have managed to score an own goal by making the package as bare-bones as possible.
eFootball Kick-Off! is an arcadey but good first go for Konami on Nintendo’s latest hardware, but old hangovers remain.
eFootball Kick-Off! brings back direct football without random packs, with World Tour, strong Switch 2 performance, and enough modes to enjoy Konami’s football again.
