eFootball Kick-Off! Reviews
Ultimately, you could do a lot worse than eFootball if you're looking for an offline, single-player (or co-op) football game. Its World Tour mode is relatively light but it's fun enough, and the game's budget price point matches its ambition. With any luck, this will only be the starting point for eFootball's presence on Switch 2, and Konami will hopefully follow this up with a more fully-featured game, or a straight crossplay-enabled port of the main free-to-play live service title. Judged on its own merits, though, as it stands, only EA Sports FC offers better (albeit less smooth) football gameplay on Switch 2.
It has more modest gameplay by today's standards; there are aspects like the goalkeepers that can be improved (hopefully patches will come), and it lacks content that adds depth, but even with these drawbacks, the nostalgic and simple feel of eFootball Kick-Off is immensely enjoyable. Just play and go, peanut.

eFootball Kick-Off! brings Konami's football to Nintendo with gameplay that's pleasantly reminiscent of the old PES games. There are several limitations and plenty of room for improvement, but it's a decent debut.

Although eFootball Kick Off! isn’t the complete return to the glory days of Pro Evolution Soccer, it’s a strong and confident step in the right direction. On the pitch, it translates the beautiful game in a way that echoes its past, offering a worthy alternative to EA FC.
Konami will now have to find a way to bring back into fashion a brand that absolutely did not deserve to be transformed into something it never was.

With clean controls that support pick-up-and-play football, a staggering number of teams, and very moreish gameplay loops, backed by a much lower price tag than its immediate competitor, eFootball Kick-Off is a perfect reminder that while a truly rancid host nation can undermine the delight of a World Cup, nothing can destroy the love for the sport.
As it stands, eFootball Kick-Off! is a great football game wrapped in a thin package. If you're here for modes, licenses, and the full modern football game circus, you may come away wanting a lot more. If you're here for the feel of PES, smooth 60fps football on Switch 2, and fancy building a team without being shaken upside down for your lunch money, then this is absolutely worth a look.
I know eFootball™ Kick-Off! won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. But for football addicts like me, who’ve been desperately missing the classic PES/Winning Eleven days, its gameplay and even the legends featured in World Tour mode are enough to spark a little hope that the magic might still be there somewhere.

eFootball Kick-Off! is a reminder that football games do not need to be overloaded with features to be enjoyable. When the fundamentals are strong and the design is focused, the result can be just as compelling as any big‑budget alternative. With this release, Konami has successfully tapped into its roots, giving Switch 2 players a superb reason to hit the pitch. It is a confident and enjoyable revival of Konami’s classic football philosophy, built around tight controls, smooth animation, and a generous range of modes that suit both newcomers and long‑time fans. The limited licences and occasional commentary hiccups do little to diminish the strength of the on‑pitch action, and the absence of pay-to-win microtransactions makes the overall package even more appealing. This is a focused and highly entertaining football game that understands exactly what it wants to be and delivers it with clarity.
eFootball Kick-Off! is exactly what many of us have been waiting for in a soccer game: uncomplicated fun. It has the good and the bad of the latest PES/eFootball games, but without the intrusive pop-ups, card packs, and all that unnecessary paraphernalia.

I don’t mind that eFootball Kick-Off is a smaller, slightly stripped-down version for the Switch 2, as it actually takes advantage of the system’s portability with more arcadey, “pick up and play” modes that feel like a match made in heaven for the console. It runs well, controls decently enough, and has enough content to keep you busy for a while, though this is the perfect case of a game that is best suited in smaller, twenty minute sessions at a time.
eFootball Kick Off! is the best football experience on Nintendo Switch. It promises to keep improving over time and delivers the real feeling of scoring a goal.

The phrase ‘Nintendo Switch Edition’ usually signals a letdown for Nintendo and football fans, but this time it is actually for the better! Yes, some of the modes are a little bare-bones and there are some odd decisions made, but there are also no microtransactions and some nice touches for newbies. Perhaps most importantly, for ~$20USD there’s classic, fully-realised football gameplay - and you can’t say fairer than that.
eFootball Kick-Off! is more modest in terms of content than one might expect, yet it is very solid where it counts. Konami manages to recapture the feel of PES’s glory days, particularly regarding match pacing and general on-pitch behavior. While its limitations in game modes and depth are evident, they do not overshadow the actual gameplay experience. Although it may not be the definitive comeback many fans have been awaiting for years, it does prove that Konami still knows how to create a highly entertaining football game when the focus remains on the action on the pitch.

eFootball Kick-Off! is an interesting effort, but not entirely successful. On one hand, it manages to recapture the immediacy and feel of classic PES, delivering an experience that is accessible, smooth, and instantly enjoyable. On the other hand, it suffers from a lack of content and a structure that becomes repetitive over time, especially for those hoping for a deeper return to the Master League formula. The decision to offer a premium product at a lower price point is certainly welcome, but it also leaves the impression of an experience that could have aimed higher, both in terms of game modes and online infrastructure. It remains a solid choice for quick matches and local multiplayer sessions, but less so for players seeking depth and variety.

eFootball Kick Off! surprised me in more ways than one. As someone who grew up with PES and has a genuine love for football, I came into this expecting a fun football game, but I got an accessible and enjoyable experience that really carves out its own identity. It might not offer the depth some of the biggest football simulations offer. It offers fast-paced gameplay, polished visuals, and easy-to-learn controls, making it a fantastic title to pick up on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Perhaps the name "Kick-Off" itself is a clue: this is just the beginning. If Konami builds on this foundation and adds the beloved Master League mode in the future, this game could become something truly great. But in its current state, it's excellent football wrapped in a thin package.

eFootball Kick Off! knows exactly who it is designed for. Rather than focusing on the complexity of traditional football simulators, it prioritizes accessibility through simple controls, varied game modes, and helpful tools that introduce newcomers to the fundamentals of virtual football. Features such as the World Circuit, the International Cup inspired by the 2026 World Cup, entertaining minigames, player encyclopedias, training modes, and solid performance on Nintendo Switch 2 create a well-rounded package for its target audience. While repetitive voice-over lines, occasional roster inconsistencies, and a lack of deeper strategic systems may disappoint some experienced players, the game successfully delivers what it promises: a fun, straightforward football experience that is perfect for quick matches and multiplayer sessions with friends.

Unlike the main version of the franchise, which revolves around weekly events, card acquisition, temporary campaigns, and constant updates, the Nintendo Switch 2 game focuses on a much more traditional experience. Progression happens primarily on the field, through matches played and the natural evolution of the squad, without relying on the loot box systems that have marked eFootball's recent history.
