Despite its extremely short runtime, The Green Light still manages to deliver an effective and, at times, genuinely unsettling experience. Its atmosphere, some excellent staging ideas, and its indoor environments show that waleedzo has a real knack for suspense. By the end of the adventure, you’re left with the feeling that the developer had some very good ideas, but didn’t always have the time or resources needed to fully explore them. For less than five euros, The Green Light remains an interesting discovery for fans of indie horror games.

The Green Light is a short journey that can be finished in an hour, and, beneath the horror, it tackles some genuinely relatable themes. I appreciated what it was trying to say, and there’s a more interesting story about anxiety and feeling trapped hiding underneath the surface.

The Green Light is a competent, eerie walking simulator which delivers suspense, some good environments and better than expected sound design. Fred may have seen the lighthouse at the end of his monotonous career tunnel, but with some of the plot being thin or confusing, it’s not the games brightest light. However, much of that is acceptable for a solo-developed title. The Green Light is worth the small price of admission if you have an itch for a new one-sitting horror game.

The Green Light promises light at the end of the tunnel, but most players will just be left in the dark. A handful of nice musical moments can’t stop this game from guiding itself straight onto the rocks.
