Schrodinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark Reviews
With a fresh perspective on the platforming genre, a killer central mechanic and a genuinely hilarious script, there's a lot to like about Schrödinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark, not least of which is its meagre price tag.
Schrödinger's Cat has plenty to offer. . . all served up in a great looking, funny package – with the art style and comedy reminiscent of something you might see on Cartoon Network
In the end, Schrödinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark is a good platforming puzzle game. The humorous dialogue helps drive a platformer that provides some good challenge in an array of levels. The use of the quarks brings a nice variety of possible solutions, even with the rather small number of abilities. It could be a bit more flexible when it comes to the controls, and the camera could benefit from being more focused, but this is still a fun time for those who'd rather solve puzzles than fight in their platforming games.
While the gameplay is fun, it is poorly laid out, though. The fact that almost all components are delivered in the tutorial, with no new elements added during the rest of the game, makes the latter half of Schrödinger's Cat feel more like a chore. Other than that, it is a great game with top quality ideas, and one that is certainly worth looking up for fans of the genre.
If you are willing to overlook some repetitive backtracking, then you'll be rewarded with a hilarious puzzle platformer that manages to be a memorable experience.
But to go back to my original question; what is left when you're playing a humour game that you're not finding very funny? A very competent, but ultimately unremarkable game in this case. In terms of scoring Schrodinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark, it's a tough one, because it's one of those odd games where I can see where its appeal would lie for others, but on a personal level, like the most boring of science experiments, I struggled to stay awake through it.
Schrodinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark is a good puzzle platformer that manages to innovate and deliver a hilarious time. There are some issues, however, that weigh it down, from the slight platforming quirks, to the camera or some visual elements. Even so, if you're a fan, you can certainly have a great time with it.
