Critic Reviews for Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus
But luckily the actual combat is fun and is designed in such a way that newcomers can quickly get the hang of the combos.
The action is something that I enjoyed far more than a Warriors game, and the combo system was both fun to execute as well as flashy enough to enjoy watching unfold. The controls help matters with its fluid style and tight movement. Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is a game that is difficult to recommend to people due to its content, but if you’re not fazed by that, you’re going to get a fun action game that rivals them all. If only they had a version of this game that didn’t feature jiggly breasts and constant unclothing schoolgirls.
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus lives up to expectations of the franchise through its fun gameplay and lewd humour. A little too much focus has gone into the characters, leaving levels to play out rather similarly, but at least it's consistently fun to kick some ninja lady booty.
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is a simple, frenetic and fun game that is hindered by a mediocre port. It's not a game for everyone, obviously, but if you're in this kind of gameplay and... uhm... other stuff, there's value to be found.
Bursting with sophomoric charm and absurd sexiness, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus will provoke either cringing or laughter depending on who’s playing it. What it lacks in maturity it makes up for with a refreshing lack of seriousness, and it presents it all in a content-laden game filled with easy, straightforward 3D ass-kicking.
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is somewhat hard to judge. Though the interactions with the original 10 characters are strong, the introductions of the 10 newcomers are fairly weak. With that said, once introductions are over, interaction becomes strong again. Not as strong as the later titles, but that stands to reason as series improve over time. If you're a fan of other titles and simply did not own a vita, this game is worth picking up. If you're new to the series and are willing to stomach the slower and less varied story offered here to better enjoy the later games, it's worth picking up then as well.
To call [Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus] a pure fighting game would be dismissing it as a poorly developed Dynasty Warriors-lite title with some sexy thrown in for good measure
Overall the storyline is better than that of Senran Kagura Burst, but the combat system falls a little short. If you have a gamepad, you should enjoy the game more. And if you like watching girls getting their clothes ripped off, then you will have plenty of cutscenes to enjoy. And let's be honest -- that's what you were really here for anyway.
