I like seeing love letters to games many people enjoy. Furi looks, sounds & plays good and it has some known names to back that up. It draws heavy inspiration, sure, but Furi is its own art worthy of standing alone. Some players may find it short if they're wanting more than just battling opponents, but it does have style and is satisfying from start to finish. This is a badass indie gem that reminds me of something I should have played on Nintendo's GameCube.

Although it stumbles in both pacing and longevity, Furi will reel in any player looking for a game that’ll give them a good challenge.

I love the ideas, it’s imaginative and doing something different, but I will probably give the soundtrack more attention than I do the actual game.

Furi rewards patience, pattern recognition, and it’s stylish enough that it’s worth trudging through the frustration to see what happens.

Furi is a very difficult game that fluidly combines mechanics from different genres. But in the end, it’s nothing more than an empty game that offers nothing more other than great boss fights. We would prefer it if there were other things to do between bosses besides playing the walking simulator. Furi is a game for people who are unafraid to die; those who never give up and love that sense of accomplishment more than anything.

Furi is an explosive type of game, but never once does it get in it’s way. From a company that hadn’t done much before, it’s insane that this game came out so innovative and fun. While it may not appeal to everybody looking for a casual experience, there’s no excuse to pick it up if you’ve got Playstation Plus. You might dive into a new comfort zone you were never aware of until now.

Furi is a serious endeavor for the hardcore. It’s extremely fun and very rewarding, but it delivers in equal parts immense frustration and anger.

Furi is going to be an acquired taste, but its split-second gameplay and rewarding boss fights will win over many, especially those who enjoy a good challenge and are persistent enough to succeed no matter the odds or difficulty.

An audiovisual tour-de-force and a lesson on how to fuse the shoot 'em up and beat 'em up genres, Furi is a must have game for any fans of challenging beat 'em ups. The difficulty and precision required will put some casual gamers off, but Furi sets out to please the hardcore crowd and over-achieves.

Furi provides a greatly engaging, challenging, and unique gameplay experience along with a surprisingly deep below-the-surface campaign and a cast of intriguing characters. Although there are some technical shortcomings and certainly plenty of cheap insta-deaths, there's no denying that Furi provides a greatly difficult and stylized experience for those who seek it.

Furi is like Dark Souls meets Shadow of the Colossus. Only bosses but really hard. Recommended for everyone that loves a challenge.

I had no idea what to expect from Furi other than the fact I heard it was hard. That certainly does not put me off a game. What I wasn't expecting from this was the level of polish it had, the deep story it was trying to tell, a stunning soundtrack, beautiful visuals and boss designs and just how unique it felt mixing up some of my favourite genres all in one game. The game does have some frame rate issues which is a shame but not enough of a problem to ruin the experience. The gameplay is fun and solid and is a game which will present you with a mighty stiff challenge which is always fair and while difficult not impossible. Bare in mind that you will have to really work at it to complete this game and it will become repetitive and some may find it too much of a challenge but for those that enjoy Boss battles which are challenging there is a lot to like and recommend here.

All said Furi could have easily coasted with its looks while delivering far less. Its presentation is outstanding and its combat is much more challenging, and yet generally fair, than anything I’ve played in a long while. If you’ve been feeling that games are too easy and repetitive Furi does an admirable job of breaking the typical mold, and it is an experience quite unlike anything else available on the Switch. Just be ready for some frustration, it doesn’t hold back.

Furi is an energetic, challenging boss rush game with an entertaining (and at times frustrating) mix of shooting and melee combat. If you missed this great game on previous consoles or PC, then go ahead and plunge into Furi on Nintendo Switch, you won’t regret it.
