DOGOS is close to being a fantastic free-roaming shooter and only held back by a few small issues and a giant glaring one.

Overall, Dogos is a solid game that overcomplicates its genre roots with its unique twist. Production values are solid, but also bland when considering this is a game with little diversity in the game play. If you’re a fan of shoot ‘em ups you should give DOGOS a try. It’s a fun release that pays homage to the classics of the genre with a 21st-century coat of paint and some extra bells and whistles here and there to stand on its own. If you want to 100% the game, the secondary objectives will keep you coming back for a second or third run of each level – not to mention for some areas you can try to complete levels by taking an alternative route to the end. It might not be a perfect game, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your time with it.

The game is decent at times but it lacks some features that would have made this a better experience. Things like mutiplayer and a leader board would have really helped to give Dogos legs. There's also some irritations in the art style, frame rate and general presentation, and the lack of a narrative to give context to what's going on hurts as well. It's fun and all, but Dogos is simply too limited for its own good.

I had fun during my time with DOGOS. Being a shoot ’em up fan, I was definitely up for playing this one to bring you a DOGOS review, and it’s a new solid entry in a beloved genre. The game includes 15 trophies for you to unlock, and unfortunately there is no Platinum trophy for this one, but that shouldn’t keep you from enjoying this new release.
